Do you believe? Growing up in a small town we had our share of stories. There were the tales that our parents told us to scare us into behaving. Those lessons were repeated in church. They taught us right from wrong and how to get along with others. Then there were those stories told around a bonfire when you were out with friends. Those there the tales that were meant to chill your bones, frighten you and make you scream… or at least hug the boy closest to you! With Halloween right around the corner, I thought I’d share one of the local tales with you! Amherst is a town with history. It is the Sandstone Capital of the World. I grew up across from one of those sandstone quarries and played among the pits and peaks. Back in the early days, sandstone was used for everything from building foundations to grave stones. And while the empty pits would fill with water and become a wonderful swimming hole, tales were told of those endless murky depths pulling someone under to their watery grave. One such tale begins with a boy and a girl on a hot summer day. Hoping to escape the prying eyes of the town, they decided to go for a swim in one of the sandstone pools that the town was famous for. Since this little trip was more than just a swimming excursion, they didn’t plan on swimsuits. Pulling off their clothes, the couple jumped into the cool refreshing water. Kissing and fondling followed as their hormones got the better of their judgement. She was a sweet young girl who wanted nothing more than the love of her sweet high school boyfriend. While they were told the dangers of sin, they both felt their passions rising and clouding their judgement. And this is where the story gets interesting… As the boy and the girl were immersed in the water, their hormones taking over, they failed to notice the world around them. Whether it was an ordinary vine or the hand of retribution, the girl suddenly felt something twist around her ankle. Calling out and reaching for her love, she tried to untangle herself. But the more she twisted and tried to pull away, the tighter the thing gripped her ankle. Her handsome young suitor tried to help but the weight of her clinging to his neck as the grip on her ankle dragged her under the water was too much for him. As he also went under the water, he lost sight of his love and surfaced to find himself alone. In shock, he pulled himself from the now bitter cold water and with shaking hands dressed quickly. Getting in his car and driving like a bat out of hell to the police station, he arrived in mere minutes after the girl’s face was pulled below the surface. After telling his tale and racing back with the police to the quarry hole, the young man was out of breath and desperate to save the girl who gave him her virginitiy. But it was all in vain. While the police did everything in their power to find and rescue the young lady, even draining the evil pool of water…the only thing that remained were her clothes from that fateful day. The next big rain, the quarry silently filled with water and children were warned about the tale of the two young lovers. However, a few have dared over the years to head to the swimming hole …only to return bearing tales of ghostly women under the water or to never be heard from again! Happy Halloween! OPEN HOUSE Blurb: Intrinsically woven into the fabric of human existence, Aphrodite, Titan Goddess of Love and Passion, dedicates herself to matching soul mates. Rebecca Carol and Robert Corvin missed their original chance to bond when Ares, God of War, took control of Robert's career ten years ago. Their souls have naturally pulled them back together for a second chance at love, but... How far will the gods go to get their own way? Will divine influence create another perfect match or will it tear them apart forever? EXCERPT: Rebecca opened the bag of takeout and handed Robert his box of lo mein while she went looking for her edamame and salt. She grabbed a mini eggroll and popped it into her mouth. The fried crispy pork and veggie flavors were heaven in her mouth. She moaned in satisfaction. The beans were at the bottom of the sack. She pulled out the box and popped open the little container of salt. “Good?” Robert asked before shoveling a bite of noodles into his mouth. “Delicious. Want one?” Rebecca held out another mini egg roll. Robert shook his head. She shrugged and popped it into her mouth as well. He chuckled. “What if I changed my mind?” “It’s too late now, genius; I swallowed it.” Rebecca laughed and broke open an edamame bean. She licked the salt off the pod and sucked the three little soybeans into her mouth. When she glanced up from her food, she couldn’t help but smirk. Robert had frozen in place, chopsticks midway to his mouth, and was just watching her eat. His brown eyes had darkened, and he was looking at her as though she were dinner instead of the lo mein. “Are you okay?” she asked cautiously, the corners of her mouth still turned up in a smirk. “I don’t think you’re going to be finishing that food right now.” “Really?” Rebecca set her paper box of edamame on the floor. “Why not?” Robert carefully placed his box to the side. He pushed her food out of the way and grabbed the edge of the cushion she was sitting on. The pillow slid easily on the hardwood floor. “I need to kiss you.” Buy Links Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Open-House-Paranormal-Romance-ebook/dp/B009FHONVG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1350087031&sr=8-1&keywords=open+house+pool+of+souls Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/243147 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ABOUT THE AUTHOR:Krystal Shannan is a born, raised, and current TEXAN. Basically you dress up in an outrageous costume and go door to door begging for candy. What could be better than a bag full of candy and a beautiful fall night? What was your favorite costume? When I was a child, I always wanted to be a beautiful princess. This didn’t change as I became a teenager. I wanted to be seen as attractive and sexy. I never wanted to be seen as ugly or scary. I’ve been the beautiful Indian Princess, the Sexy beach babe and the stunning mermaid. While my sisters went as the scary witch or the evil snowman, I had to be beautiful. You can say it… I was shallow. As an adult, the choices have been easier if you wanted to be noticed for your costume. The police woman in the skimpy uniform or the naughty nurse… even now a sexy big bird. It is wonderful to have so many choices but now my choices have changed. I’m always looking for something unique. There are always so many passionate princesses at each party. Now I want to be the costume that everyone talks about the next day! Whether it was the crash test dummy or the pregnant nun… I wanted people to be amazed by my creativity..Yep.. still shallow but in a different way! :) My favorite costume was one that my husband wore one year. He went as a condom machine. It actually worked. You could put a quarter in the slot and a condom would come out the bottom of the machine. What’s a better costume for a Halloween party filled with drinking! At least everyone could be safe! GIVEAWAY! Lacey Wolfe is one of my favorite authors. Her books and characters evoke a variety of emotions that will keep you running back to the book store for more of her books! I am so excited to have her stop by and share with you her latest book. Bare Necessities (Brookfield Series Book Two) by Lacey Wolfe After years of bad relationships, Ava Miller is finally living life for herself and isn’t going to let anyone get in the way. Her dream is to open a lingerie shop, and she has chosen Brookfield, Wyoming as her new home, where her dreams might just come true. Once she meets the town sheriff, though, she’s suddenly involved in a flirtatious battle for the right to open her store. Seth Hampton is the town’s sheriff, and when Ava shows up, he’s not sure what hits him. He craves her, yet he can’t stand to allow that type of shop to open in his small town. However, he isn’t alone. Someone else wants Ava to leave town. Things take a turn when her shop is vandalized, and all evidence points to Seth. Ava isn’t sure what to think. While Seth seems to be the only one with motives, something inside her believes he would never do it. Can Ava and Seth figure it out before one of them gets hurt? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Excerpt: The sun was starting to go down, and even though it was late summer in Brookfield, it still got a bit chilly in the evenings. Once in her car, she made the short drive over to the local diner, Swift Water Café. It was brightly lit, and the place appeared to be hopping. She couldn’t wait to start meeting people. She loved to socialize. Talking was just second nature to her—along with flirting. Seth greeted her at her door, and as she stepped out, he placed his hand on her lower back. It was possessive, and at first she wanted to step away, but his hand soon dropped and she realized he was just being friendly. In the diner, they made their way to a corner booth. Many of the customers quieted and watched as she and Seth took their seats. Just like a normal small town. She was new, and now they were curious. She smiled at everyone. First impressions were important. A perky waitress made her way over and took their drink order. The blonde made flirty eyes at Seth, and Ava couldn’t help but be amused. He was most likely Brookfield’s number one bachelor. Every woman here probably wanted to tie him down and have six of his children. Thank God that was the last thing on her mind. “So, Ava, tell me a little about yourself,” Seth said. “Not much to tell, officer.” Seth’s face lit up again. She enjoyed making him smile. “Everyone around here loves Julie,” he said. “It’s nice having her home again. Have you been by to see her and Lila yet?” “It’s the first thing on my agenda in the morning. I can’t believe how big Lila’s getting.” The waitress returned with their drinks and then took their order. Diner food, what could be better? A nice, greasy sandwich and fries. She was thankful she wasn’t one of those women who watched her weight. “So tell me, Ava, what brought you to our lovely town?” “I’m opening my own business.” Ava took a sip of her soda. “That’s great. We need some more shops. Let me guess, you’re opening up a boutique of some kind.” “Something like that.” “Rumor has it we have an adult store opening.” He laughed. Ava froze. What was so funny? Seth continued. “Whoever that nut job is, I hope they know this town isn’t having it. We plan on running them out. We have a reputation to keep up.” The waitress came back, still batting her eyelashes at Seth. Looking at the food in front of her, Ava was no longer hungry. She dug through her purse for a ten-dollar bill, set it on the table, and then stood up. Seth gazed up, confused. “Are you okay?” he asked. “Did I say something wrong?” “Yes, you called me a nut job, and I’ve lost my appetite. I thought Brookfield would be different, but you’ve just shown me how wrong I was.” Ava turned and started to make her way to the entrance. Once she was outside, Seth came running out after her. “You’re the one opening up a sex toy shop,” he said. Rolling her eyes, she said, “It’s a lingerie shop, and in the back, there just so happens to be a small adult area. Why I’m explaining this to you, I don’t know.” “Well, I hate to tell you, but that shop isn’t opening here.” Crossing her arms, she glared at him. “Just try and stop me.” Buy Links: Smashwords Amazon Barns and Noble All Romance ebooks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finding Home (Brookfield Series Book One) Julie Miller has returned to her home in Brookfield, Wyoming after discovering she is pregnant. From the time she was a child she would slip away to write short stories about people she knew and fantasies she wished would happen. It has always been her dream to be a published author and with her two children now of school age, she finally has the time to work on making her dream come true. Lacey lives in Georgia with her husband, son and daughter, their six cats and one black lab who rules the house. She writes some sizzling tales that are sure to entertain you! Everything Is Not Always As It Seems… Rock star Clay Emerson has returned to his family’s hotel in the Colorado mountains to recuperate after a freak accident has left him in a traction cast. The Grandview is the perfect place for a man of Clay’s status to hideout from fans and paparazzi alike. Unfortunately, he can’t hide from Olivia Sheffield, the nurse hired to help him with his rehabilitation. A former ballerina whose career was lost due to a tragic accident of her own, Olivia has no time or patience for Clay and his rock star attitude. From the moment they’re thrown together by Clay’s well-meaning sister both fur and sparks fly. It doesn’t take long for Clay to realize that there’s more to his caretaker than meets the eye, beneath the abrupt and businesslike exterior is a woman with with more strength and resilience than Clay has ever known and more than enough passion to satisfy his soul. What’s Illusion About? For five very entertaining years I was a publicist. It was not a job for the faint of heart – but it gave me loads of story-line fodder. Not all actors and musicians are clueless idiots that do stupid things but a lot of them are. Thus an entire file cabinet full of possible story-lines inspired by narcissistic actors and overexposed musicians. This job also introduced me to a musician who had some stellar priorities and some awesome dreams. It was from this man the idea for my next book, Illusions, was developed (with his blessing might I add). After the intensity of my mystery/suspense, Blood Roles, I wanted to write something a little bit more upbeat – a good old fashioned love story with a truly sexy hero and a gorgeous heroine. Illusions was the perfect solution. It’s a Contemporary but it’s a different style of contemporary and an unusual angle on the rock star concept. At least to me it’s an unusual angle, especially since I saw it play out in reality. One of my clients was a successful musician who walked away from the industry. He got tired of the politics and the games – and yes, even the groupies. Unlike the legendary Gene Simmons of KISS, for whom performing is all about making the money (and was about banging groupies before Shannon Tweed whipped him into shape), this particular performer was actually about the music. He had more than one degree in music, wasn’t fond of the endless partying because he felt it affected his performance adversely and he didn’t like being required to perform certain pieces to please the record companies. This guy could have had any super model in the world but he longed for somebody nice and normal (his words, not mine) to complete his world. That somebody appeared in the form of a former ballerina turned school teacher he met on a visit to a music camp for children and the rest, as they say, is history. He quit the industry and moved to New England where, now, over a decade later, he teaches music theory, she still teaches preschool, they have six, count ‘em SIX children and live on a renovated farm where he also writes on the side. His band continued on, they’re still together today, while he indulged in the life that made him happy. That’s what the core of Illusions is all about – being happy. Being happy with who you are, where you’re from, how you look and what your capabilities are – and of course awesome sex is always a great plus! The first thing one notices with Illusions is that our hero and heroine, Clay and Olivia, are not happy. They each have the best of their circumstances but neither one of them is truly happy or complete with their lives. Clay has lost sight of who he truly was before he became a world renowned rock star and while Olivia has fought her way back from a tragic accident to dance again, it’s not the life she knew before her fiancé cruelly abandoned her. This man’s actions have left her more than wary of most people and having to deal with Clay on a daily basis when he comes back to the family hotel to recuperate from his own accident compounds the realities of her situation even more. Neither Olivia or Clay are truly happy but they, like most people, paste that smile on their faces in order to do their job. In spite of a rocky start, both Clay and Olivia slowly grow together because they each have circumstances that they cannot change. As Clay and Olivia learn to be happy with themselves, they find that they can be very happy together. With that growth comes attraction and I don’t have to tell you all what happens next…do I? But passion comes with a price – sooner or later Clay has to return to his world and there’s a huge mess waiting for him. Unhappy band mates and a problematic bassist are battling over the band’s music catalog and Clay must participate in one last concert before he can be leave the industry. Deciding to do things on his own terms brings peace to his band mates yet drives the loose cannon over the edge which almost ends up getting Olivia and Clay killed. Illusions is a love story driven by passion, desire and the right to fight for what you love and want the most. Readers are going to put this book down with a smile on their face which is what I ultimately aimed for! Illusions is due out on November 23rd – be sure to make it part of your Black Friday shopping!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Author Bio: A prolific writer who spent many years writing Inspirationals, she crossed over to the dark side to write mystery/suspense and paranormal romance in 2008. In the eHow article, Annie Taylor provides some typical characteristics of Alpha Males: a leader, highly ambitious, commanding attention and not needing approval from others. She also states that the Alpha Male is one who impresses others with his style. While these are all good things, they can be seen as too much of a good thing. I love strong men who know their mind and who understand how to get what they want. They take care of themself and are willing to take care of the love of their life. But I don't want a man who is demanding, bossy or shallow. The line between Alpha and a "bossy man" is thin. In most books, the man has to prove his worth and show his strength. I enjoy their confidence and need to protect others. I also love a man who can fall for one woman and work for her love. A true Alpha Male is the one who doesn't run from a lifetime of marriage with one woman, the good and the bad. In short, my grandfather who stood by his wife through raising a family, both working a full time job, the loss of close friends and faced his own health issues and his wife's cancer with a strong determined spirit. (US winners ONLY) Today I'm excited to feature an interview with an actual dark underlord from the Glimpse of Midnight book series. It isn't everyday that we get a glimpse or sneak peak at this amazing world that borders our own. I'd love to thank Alia Fang for sharing the interview with us. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Special Guest Interview by Alia Fang – Liaison Officer South Hedonism with Lord Cyrus, and Main Character Glimpses of Midnight: Decadence (book 2) by Suzzana C ryan First let me welcome you princess Lord Cyrus and may I say I feel honored to be conducting this interview. I was glad to take the time out from my busy schedule, Alia. My but you are looking quite delicious today. Oh, my Lord, please after the interview. What was it like to share glimpses of our world with authors JL Oiler and Suzzana C. Ryan? You know how I adore human woman and these two lovelies are quite intelligent and may I add, quite decadent in their thinking. I enjoyed speaking with them. They smelled delicious, wanted a nip, but they just shook their heads no. We have heard rumors of a fallen Archangel entering the city. Any truth to that? As you know Alkemen is running amuck on the surface it isn’t surprising. You would most likely need to check with Suzzana C. Ryan and her second book in the series, Glimpses of Midnight: Decadence (book 2) To find that out…but I put nothing past that cheating succubus. How is it decided who gains access into the inner sanctum of the palace? Alia, they have a key, like yours, and only evil can enter. No goodie two shoes. Boring, sweets, boring, and if I catch any humans down here, I’ll snap their fragile necks. But not before I had a little nip here or there. My Lord, I hear that Alkmene has left our time. Any truth to that. The lovely bitch has flown the coop and she’s hiding out, I think it’s a rather peaceful era, nineteen-fifty-seven. I’ll find her cheating ass and she’ll be back home. I wonder why I keep her with me. <smiles, Cyrus is more handsome than any human male, Alia blushes> My Lord, I think its because you love her, she’s perhaps the most beautiful creature in South Hedonism. Love, ah, I’m a vampire. Love, I love the bitch and when I get her back she going to be punished for disobedience. Now please continue. Humans topside have noticed a common tattoo shared by all residence of South Hedonism. What does it signify? Death, Destruction, and Deception. You want to know more you’ll need to read about it. I’ve heard rumors of unrest in South Hedonism. Any truth in those? The city is a world of decadence, indulgence, and obsession. There will always be unrest. I’m curious Where did you hear such a rumor? I am the Lord, here, any unrest will be dealt with severely. Oh, my Lord, please forgive me, but I do believe its just a rumor. Good, my dear, hate to see anything happen to one of your pack mates, now do we. By the way how are your two mates? I love my werewolves, it takes two males for every female, mmm, can taste the fun, as we speak. Lord Cyrus, I do believe we’re off the subject. Now are going after Alkmene, oh and has she found herself a fallen yummy arch angel? There are too many humans here, smells too good. Maybe we should ask those two delicious writers, JL Oiler and Suzzana C Ryan about that. Better yet, perhaps buying Glimpses of Midight volume one and two and founding out those answers for yourself. Do you hear that, Glimpses of Midnight…..Volume One, Indulgnce and Volume Two, Decadence (Oct. 17, 2012) Volume One available now. Oh, Lord Cyrus, you are such a naughty boy, stop that, oh….Good night folks!
Today I'm excited to have a local author visiting. It's always fun when you find a fabulous author right in your own backyard! I know that you are going to love her book, so let's find out more about Gemma and her story. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello and Welcome ! Please tell us a little about yourself. My name is Gemma K. Murray and I write urban fantasy/paranormal romance which is set along the shores of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I have been married to my own knight in tarnished armor for almost 19 years and we have 5 canine kids who are spoiled rotten. I’ve been writing since I was 12 years old, but only got serious about writing romance 10 or 11 years ago. I never dreamed I could become published, but here I am, living my dream. What song best fits your life? And Why? The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert- I grew up in this amazing farmhouse. My great-grandparents had lived there, my grandparents lived there, and my parents raised me there. The history of this place definitely made me the woman I am. I spent so many years learning the nooks and crannies. I haven’t been in that house for over 20 years, but I can still see it in my mind. If you were a cartoon character who would you be and why? She-Ra. (grin) She was gorgeous, a princess, but was able to take on the evil of the world. If you had to live without your car or your computer, which would you choose? Oh my goodness! I live in the middle of nowhere so a car is essential, but my computer holds my life in its memory. (thinking) I would have to go with car. Do you have any funny stories from growing up that you can share? I grew up on a dairy farm. Our property had a creek that was deep in the property. I didn’t realize how close the creek ran to the road (it was hidden by trees) and I tended to skinny dip…a lot. (I thought I was hidden.) I learned a lesson one summer when one of my guy friends noticed a girl skinny dipping in the creek and hollered “Hello!” Scared the bejeebers out of me! What’s your favorite thing to do to relax? I read…A LOT! If you had to be one of your characters, which would you be and why? At this moment, I’m working on the third book in my Cedar River series. I’d have to say I’d like to be my character, Silver. She’s a sexy red-headed witch who is having so much fun torturing (playfully) my character, Brady. She seems like a bad girl, but she’s really got a heart of gold. Did you always want to be an author? My senior English teacher, Mrs. Schmidt, told me I should become a writer. I truly never believed I had the talent to be an author. Even back that far, Mrs. Schmidt believed I could do this. What is your favorite part about being an author? What is your least favorite? My favorite part about being an author is getting to live in a fantasy world for most of the day as I write. The least favorite would coming back to reality:) What has been your favorite part about getting published? I get to share my world with readers and they seem to like it. Where do you write? Do you need anything to help you get in the mood for writing? My oak dining room table with a view of the lake. It’s cluttered and messy with space enough for the computers, but it works for me. In order to get in the mood to write, I have to clear my head of the day to day nonsense. I put in my earbuds and open my Windows Media player. The music sets the tone for the writing for the day. Tell us about your latest release: Blurb- The Upper Peninsula of Michigan seems like it is another country. The rawness and beauty of the land draws people from every walk of life. What most people don’t realize is there is a little town nestled on the banks of Lake Superior that an entire group of supernatural beings call home. Shifters of every shape and size live there. They raise their families there. Tourists come from near and far to visit the quaint town of Cedar River, Michigan. The tourists never realize they are walking among some of the most unusual beings on earth. Bowie Golden is a dragon shifter who is in charge of Cedar River’s safety. Until now, the biggest threat to anyone’s safety was Anastasia Plum, a witch/puma-shifter. She has been the town hellraiser since she was a teenager. Now someone has discovered the secret the residents of Cedar River keep for one another. These radicals are determined to eradicate the entire town. It’s up to Bowie to keep them all safe. Ana has always idolized Bowie. She may have stirred up trouble from time to time, but Bowie or one of his brothers would always get her out of the trouble she was in. One day, it happened. The unthinkable, the unimaginable occurred. Anastasia Plum fell for the “golden” boy. What an unlikely duo- the sheriff and the hellraiser! Just as these two discover their passion for one another, a group of people is determined to keep them apart. It’s up to Ana to prove that she is the only Keeper of the Golden Dragon’s Heart. Excerpt- My name is Anastasia Plum. I’m the only living child of a puma shifter and a witch. I grew up in this incredible community of supernatural beings on the shores of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. From the tall pines that grace our forests to the most amazing body of water I have ever seen, there is no better place on earth. My earliest memory is of laying my head against my father’s chest and hearing him purr. I was three years old. Two years later, hunters killed my father, who was hunting in puma form, leaving my mother to fall into a deep depression. I was twelve when a spell my mother had worked for a human went wrong and the person returned in the night to burn our home to the ground, killing my mother. Looking back, I think she was ready to meet my father wherever his soul was wandering, especially since she was able to get me out of the burning cabin. At the age of twelve, I was alone in the world except for a family of dragon shifters who had befriended my parents before I was born. Bernard Golden took me to the puma shifters who lived on the edge of our village. The pumas turned me away because I was a half-breed. There were no other witches in the community so the Golden family took me in as one of their own. With four boys, Lorelai Golden welcomed another female presence. To me, she always smelled of sugar cookies and cinnamon. Bowie, the oldest son, was my chief defender. He is seven years older than me and he took my protection very seriously. Brady, the second son was my trainer. He taught me to fight and hunt, which is hard for a dragon to teach a puma, but he did his best. Callum and Colin are the youngest. A set of twins, a rarity in the dragon world, they were allowed to get away with a lot. Being only a year older than I am, we three managed to get into the most trouble. They were, and are, my best friends. The dragon nest was not very receptive of a cat living in their midst. I was teased and tormented by the dragonlings. Luckily, I had the Goldens. Bernard is the head of the Dragon Council so not many dragons were willing to cross him. Arthur Smythe and his family were one of the few families who dared piss off Bernard. The Smythe boys ambushed me and padlocked me in a metal dog crate. What their intentions were I did not know, but it was lucky for me, Callum and Colin were always close by me in those days. When Lance and Cameron Smythe went home to wait for nightfall, Colin turned me loose and helped me home. Callum had run ahead to tell Mama and Papa what had happened. Mama met us in the yard, crying. How did you decide on your story plot? I dream my books so, in all honesty, my characters tell me where the story goes. It can be little scary when they quit talking to me. (grin) How did you choose your characters names and location for your story? Once again, Ana introduced herself to me which led me to Bowie and the rest of the town of Cedar River. The location was funny because I had never been to the Upper Peninsula. I only saw the sign for Cedar River in my dream and Bowie told me where to put the town. What I didn’t realize until I moved here was that there really IS a Cedar River and I had picked up the entire town and moved it. Do you have a favorite scene? Why? My favorite scene is when Ana finally has had enough. She dresses up and sets off to seduce our handsome (though pig-headed) sheriff. She puts on her see-through blouse, her shortest skirt (sans underwear), her gladiator platform heels and steals Bowie’s muscle car. Knowing he’s on duty that night, she leads him down a deserted dirt road and…well, you can guess where it ends up. Do you love hot hunky cowboys? D'Ann Lindun's latest book is perfect for you! Vaquero by D'Ann Lindun When Cordero Ybarra and Aspen O’Hare meet, there is an immediate attraction. But he holds his secrets close, refusing to open up about the night racial prejudice almost killed him. Aspen refuses to trust Cord—or any man. She’s been abandoned one too many times. When another woman lies and says Cord wouldn’t take responsibility for a child they created together, Aspen believes Cord is a deadbeat just like her father. It is only after she uncovers the truth that Aspen realizes Cord is nothing like the men who’ve deserted her before. When an immigrant worker is hanged by the same two crazies who branded him, Cord sees the truth. The shame he’s carried about being the victim of a hate crime is going to cost him the woman he loves if he can’t let go of his past. Excerpt: She abruptly pulled out of his embrace and fastened her dress back together. “I need to get back. Daddy will be looking for me.” Swallowing his disappointment, Cord said, “I’ll walk you back, chica.” Her eyes were hard, or maybe it was just the moonlight playing tricks on him. “Chica? Don’t call me that. And you can’t tell anyone what happened between us. This was a mistake. I’ll see you around.” Before he could react, she vanished out the door. “I’ll see you around.”Had she really just said that? He found his shirt on the floor and, after jerking it on, left the bunkhouse, slamming the door behind him. She teased him, got him hard as hell, then vanished? What the fuck had just happened here? Just a few feet into the dark, someone stepped in front of him. In no mood to talk, Cord started to push by when the other man grabbed his arm. “You too good to talk to me, Mex?” Buford LaDelle. Cord sighed. What was the guy’s problem with him? “No, just tired.” “Worn out from work, or something else?” Cord jerked his arm away from the bigger man’s grip. “Not that I feel like sharing my business with you, but yeah, I’m beat from roping all day.” Another man moved out of the shadows. Buford grinned at him. “I think he’s worn out from that little joyride he just gave Shayla. How ’bout you, Spike? Think that’s it?” “Yeah, I think that’s it,” Spike agreed. Buford got so close Cord could smell the alcohol on the other man’s breath. “That it, Mex?” “Get lost.” Cord moved to step around Buford, and the bigger man slugged him. Hard. In the stomach. Not expecting it, he doubled over, fighting to catch his breath. Before he could suck in enough air, one of the men slipped a lariat over his head, pulling it tight against his neck. The other one grabbed his wrists and bound them with a slick leather strap, a rein maybe. What the hell? It was one thing to have a fistfight over a girl—all guys did it—but he’d never been attacked in the dark and roped like a wild steer before. Cord struggled, and the rope around his neck tightened until he feared passing out. Stars danced in front of his eyes, and his ears felt like they had cotton stuffed in them. He tried to speak, and his voice came out in a hoarse growl. “Let me go.” Buford chuckled. “Not until you learn your lesson, son. I don’t know how things are done back where you come from, but around here, illegals don’t fuck our women.” “I didn’t—” The rope dug into his neck, cutting off his words. He was as American as they were, the crazy bastards. Like a prisoner being dragged to the gallows, Cord was hauled toward the corrals. Every time he tried to speak, one of them jerked the rope around his neck, making it impossible for him to call for help. At the branding pens, Buford yanked Cord up tight against one of the corral posts, securing him like a trussed hog. His nose pressed against the rough cedar pole. He turned his face so his cheek rubbed it instead. Spike pulled Cord’s hands around the pole and tied them, rendering him helpless. “What now?” Spike asked. Buford held up something that flashed in the dim moonlight. A knife. “I say we geld him. Cut off his nuts and feed them to him.” The buddy chuckled. “Good plan. That’ll teach him not to go between the legs of decent white women.” Cord struggled against the rope binding him until it cut into his neck. Warmth trickled down his neck, and he knew it had to be blood. They were only trying to scare him. No one in his right mind would do something so crazy. Buford crowded up behind Cord, pinning him even tighter to the fence, and reached around and unbuckled his jeans. They slid down over his hips and thighs. He stood tied, half naked, his jeans and shorts pooling around the tops of his boots, as they discussed what to do next. “We’re gonna need another couple of ropes to hold his legs apart,” the buddy said helpfully. “I’ll go get ’em. But you’re gonna have to do the cuttin’ ’cause I ain’t touchin’ no other man’s dick or balls.” Buford considered that, turning the knife in his hands. “Yeah, you got a point about that. I ain’t no queer. But we gotta do something to teach this boy a lesson.” Cord twisted his hands, desperate to get free, but the tie they’d used tightened with every move. He couldn’t catch a deep breath. Sweat beaded on his forehead and ran down his back. The joke had gone far enough. “Turn me loose and I won’t kick your ass,” he demanded in a harsh whisper. “Oh my God.” A woman’s voice. Shayla. Out of the corner of his eye, Cord saw her take in the scene. Horror filled her voice. “What are you doing? This isn’t Deliverance. Let him go right now.” A rough laugh rumbled out of Buford. “Not a chance. Your daddy told us to take care of the problem, and we have it handled.” “I never agreed to this,” she said stubbornly. “Pull up his pants and turn him loose.” “We’re just scaring him a little.” Buford’s tone changed to vicious, and he stepped toward her with his fist closed. “Now get on out of here.” She turned and fled. She was hooked! She began writing and never looked back. Romance appeals to her because there's just something so satisfying about writing a book guaranteed to have a happy ending. D’Ann’s particular favorites usually feature cowboys and the women who love them. This is probably because she draws inspiration from the area where she lives, Western Colorado, her husband of twenty-nine years and their daughter. Composites of their small farm, herd of horses, five Australian shepherds, a Queensland heeler, eight ducks and cats of every shape and color often show up in her stories! Annabelle needs that prize money, and she’s determined to win it. As she fights to make it through each round of the contest, an attraction begins to develop between the two adversaries. The longer Annabelle remains in the competition, the deeper her attraction grows to the man who’s trying to prevent her from reaching her goal. Can she convince Miles she’s strong enough to fight the fame monster and win? Genre(s): Contemporary Romance ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Excerpt He followed her to the kitchen, trying to keep his gaze from dropping to her shapely rear and only managing sporadically. In the last six years, no woman ever fired his blood quite like she did. Since the death of his wife, the guilt he felt taking another woman to bed doused the fire of his libido more effectively than jumping into a pool of ice cold water. “We only have white. I hope that’s okay,” she said as she pulled a bottle from the Smeg fridge. “White’s fine,” he assured her. She reached for the top shelf of one of the cupboards, pulling out two glasses. A strip of pearly skin flashed at her waist as the top rose. His eyes were drawn to the creamy concave of her stomach. His throat was taught. Every part of him itched to be closer to her. “Here we go.” Annabelle carried the glasses over to the work surface he was leaning on. She was so close, her floral scent engulfed him. “Annabelle,” he whispered huskily. She looked up at him, surprise crossing her features until she looked harder. She must have seen the feral hunger in his expression, known that when his attention dropped to her plump lips it was because he wanted to taste them. When his gaze locked hers, a flush stained her cheeks, but this time it wasn’t embarrassment. Her colbalt eyes dropped to his lips and she moistened hers. Miles doubted anyone could resist this kind of desire. This feeling went beyond lust to an almost carnal level. It was all consuming and he didn’t have the strength to fight it. Worse still, he didn’t want to. With his mind filled with nothing but her, he dipped his head down and brushed his mouth against pink lips as soft as rose petals—intending to pull away after a second—but an all consuming need sped through his veins with a force he couldn’t control. Instead of pulling back he cupped the nape of her neck with his hand and deepened the kiss. Annabelle’s mouth opened and he could taste her sweet breath on his tongue. She melted against him, as she snaked her hands around his neck. Every part of his body that touched hers burned and for the first time in six years, he was harder than granite. He pulled his lips from hers and feathered her jaw with kisses. She gasped when he reached her neck, igniting his desire to an inferno. “Annabelle,” he groaned against the skin at her collarbone and she shivered all over. He closed his eyes and nibbled her silky skin. Just as he was about to move back to her lips, Cassie’s face—grey and lifeless—flashed to the forefront of his mind. His heated blood morphed into cold sludge in his veins and his erection dissolved as swiftly as it had come. Miles released her, instantaneously jumping back as if her touch burned him. Annabelle’s skin flushed and her eyes were so dark, they were no longer blue. Confusion colored her expression and he couldn’t speak. Guilt lay heavy in his gut, threatening to travel up his throat and choke him. Closing his eyes, he pinched the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath. Cassie’s face—cold and lifeless—was ingrained against his lids and the sick feeling came back, the same as it had when he’d found her dead in their apartment. “Miles?” He opened his eyes to Annabelle’s crest fallen face. His was so numb he couldn’t imagine what kind of expression he wore. “I…can’t” he choked out and started toward the door, pushing away her outstretched hand. Once outside he gulped in a breath of cool night air and jumped into his car. What had he been thinking? He was supposed to befriend the girl, not kiss her until he became drunk with desire. Can Scarlett finally let go and experience the pleasure this mystery man has to give? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Excerpt “Welcome,” a stunning red headed woman greeted them. “Please look over the rules then come over here and I’ll help sign you up.” Scarlett looked at the poster board and read. Welcome to the first annual, Text Me Date Night. We’ve tried to make tonight as safe and enjoyable as possible. Please take a moment to look over the simple rules. Every person is assigned their ID that is associated with their phone number. You will display your ID with a sticker on your back. If you find someone you are interested in, you will check the board for their ID and find their number. Always identify yourself with your ID. All communication is through texting. No talking aloud. The rules were simple and seemed like this event was well thought out. Everyone had their own personal identification code which seemed as though it would help keep them safe. What the hell. Might as well give it a go. “Ready?” Angela asked. “I didn’t get dressed up for nothing.” Scarlett tossed her blonde locks behind her shoulders and strutted back to the table to get her ID. At the sign-up table, the woman looked thrilled to see them. She handed them each a clipboard with a few simple questions to fill out. As Scarlett wrote her phone number down, she really hoped the room wasn’t filled with a bunch of psychos. After she completed the form, she handed it back to the woman then the red head placed a big sticker on her back which identified her to her phone number. “Good luck, ladies. And my best advice is, let the men text you.” “Thanks,” Scarlett said as she waited on Angela. They went toward the ballroom where the event was being hosted. The doors were wide open, making it feel inviting. Before they entered where they would no longer be able to talk, Scarlett stopped and took a deep breath. “Hopefully this is fun. Should we have a special text word like we do at clubs in case one of us needs help?” “Great idea, yes. How about our usual word, pickle?” “Okay. Don’t leave me right away, please.” “I won’t. It isn’t like I’m going to go get it on with the first man that texts me.” Angela laughed. Scarlett wasn’t so sure about that. Not that she was calling her friend a slut, but she was definitely a little looser then Scarlett was. “Let’s go,” Scarlett said, because if they didn’t go now she might chicken out. Can Lilli come to terms and figure out exactly who her heart belongs to? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Excerpt Lilli glanced down at the floor for a few seconds before looking up and giving Jack a small smile. Her long black hair fell down the center of her back and curled slightly at the ends. Her eyes were a most alluring color. Jack couldn’t tell for sure in the dim lighting, but they almost appeared violet. He’d never encountered such a unique woman before. He knew right away a girl like her didn’t belong in a shit-hole like this. “What would you like?” She looked down at the pad she held and waited for his order. “For you to have a seat.” He got up, pulled the chair out, and then motioned for her to sit. “What? No, I can’t. I’m working.” Jack looked around and noted it wasn’t that busy. “I think you can sit for a few minutes.” He smiled. “Pat said you should give me what I want.” “I-I don’t do that.” She shook her head. "Some of the other girls here do, but not me." “I’m only asking you to sit and I rarely ask twice.” He felt a sense of relief knowing she didn't prostitute herself to the customers in this disgusting place. “Please.” “Just for a few minutes.” She looked around the bar and then quickly took a seat. “It’s nice to meet you, Lilli,” he said. “Do you have a last name?” “I do.” She was too busy looking into his eyes that he thought maybe she forgot to finish answering. Jack smiled and cleared his throat when he realized she was staring at him. “Oh, it’s Daniels.” “I see. What do you do besides work here, Lilli Daniels?” “I work at the bookstore over at the community college,” she said. “I’m hoping to save enough money to take a few classes there in the fall.” “It’s only January,” Jack said. “Why wait so long?” “Classes are expensive.” She nervously fidgeted with the cocktail napkin sitting on the table. “So, what do you do?” “I’m an attorney. I have my own practice in the city.” “Oh, that sounds interesting. I’d like to study law someday, too.” “A pretty ambitious goal.” He teased. “How old are you?” “Twenty-two.” Well, at least she's legal. But, for a girl working in a strip club trying to save money for school, she seemed awfully naïve. He briefly wondered if it was an act to get men to feel sorry for her. Maybe she knew exactly how to get a bigger tip out of her customers. “Getting a bit of a late start with school, aren’t you?” Jack asked. “My son is about your age and he's in medical school.” “My father’s not an attorney.” She ran her fingers through her hair and Jack immediately recognized she was uncomfortable when she mentioned her father. The lawyer in him needed to investigate a little further. “What does your father do?” “Are you ready to order?” she said. “I should be getting back to work.” “Not just yet.” He wondered why she changed the subject so quickly. “I’m curious as to what a girl like you is doing in a place like this.” “Me, too.” She looked around the dark room. “I fell on some hard times and I’m just trying to get my life back together. It’s honest work.” “What kind of hard times?” He was trying not to interrogate her, but he wanted to know more about her. “I can tell you’re a lawyer.” Her full pink lips curved into a smile. Jackson wondered what it would feel like to have her mouth against his. She was probably soft and warm. “It’s in my nature to ask questions.” He wanted to know more about this beauty. “Do you always get your answers?” “I always get everything I want.” He let his eyes wander down her body. She was flawless, but he shouldn't have been entertaining any possibilities at all. But then again, when did he ever let anything stop him from getting what he wanted? Jack reached into his pocket, pulled out his business card, and handed it to her. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. “I have to get back to the office now, but I’ve rather enjoyed your company. If Pat gives you a hard time, please give me a call. I’ll set him straight.” He knew he should leave her alone. He wasn't sure he’d be interested in getting involved with a girl in her situation, but he wasn’t ready to walk away. Not yet. She glanced down at the card. “I went to high school with a Cameron Avis.” “Did you date?” That would be far too amusing. “Oh, God no.” She laughed. “He was a year older than me, popular, and would never give a girl like me a second glance. I was from the wrong side of the tracks.” She rolled her eyes. “Hmm.” Jack began to get a clearer picture of who Lilli was. “I was shy and kept to myself,” she said. “He was gorgeous, smart, and came from money. Definitely not my type." “Really?” Jack grinned as he got up from the table. “It seems to me I’ll have to have a talk with my son about not recognizing a good thing when he sees it.” “Oh.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Secret Cravings Buy Link The Trailer Youtube Link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEEpYCIOBMI&feature=plcp About Ella…

How will Lily manage working full-time, taking care of her young son and fighting the undead at every turn? Lily will have to figure it out, but who better to save the world than a mom? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EXCERPT: She lowered herself into the almost-too-hot bathwater and breathed a slow, deep sigh. She’d worked herself up all day long. Hot baths always made everything seem a little less crappy. The faucet was still running. She liked to fill the tub to the point of overflow. When the water reached that level, Lily shut it off and submerged herself completely underwater. She began counting the amplified sound of the faucet as it rhythmically released each drop of water. Lily had reached forty-four when she couldn’t hold her breath any longer. She popped her head back up and patted around for the towel she’d left on the side of the tub. Water streamed across her eyes and her hair was plastered to her face. She searched more frantically for the towel and felt it—and the hand attached to it. “Are you trying to drown yourself?” Lily jumped and hit her head on the side of the bathtub before she recognized the voice to be Mathias’s. Quickly, she wiped her face and wrapped the towel around herself, soaking it in the bathwater. “What is wrong with you? Don’t you knock anymore?” “I did. I became worried so I let myself inside.” “You didn’t have to let yourself inside the bathroom!” “I promise I saw nothing.” The smirk on his face told her otherwise, but she decided to let it go before she embarrassed herself further.Lily clutched the side of the tub with one hand and the soaked towel with the other, trying to step out. The task—attempting to keep herself covered and stand gracefully—was more difficult than it seemed. Mathias frowned and said, “Let me help you.” She reached her free hand up for his assistance, but instead of helping her rise to her feet, he gently laid her back into the tub. Lily looked at him, confused, but when he began unbuttoning his shirt, she had a pretty good idea what his offer of help meant. As he slipped out of his pants, Lily’s breath caught in her throat. The man was perfection from head to toe. Her face reddened when the thought of him seeing her in a complete state of undress registered. “Mathias, will you turn out the light, please?” “Why would I want to do that?” He looked honestly confused, as well as completely aroused, as he took in the sight of Lily with only a wet towel clinging to her. “Because! I’m modest!” Lily’s eyes focused downward on the droplets of water spilling from her knees. She drew the wet towel up to her chest in an attempt to hide more of herself. “You certainly have no reason to be. You’re beautiful. Let me show you how beautiful I find you.” EXCLUSIVE BOOK BIRTHDAY DISCOUNT!

You are going to love Thema Cortez's latest release! Biz Jet JumpSeat by Telma Cortez Aerosexual series Blurp: A blistering turnaround for Jana After a risqué stunt gets her fired from her flight attendant job, Jana finds an even better position, as crew for Dominatrix Productions. Excerpt: The next morning, Jana checked out early, ready for her first flight with Dominatrix Productions. Cynthia had sent her a text message letting her know that she could wear anything she wanted, but the more skin she showed the better. Jana was taken aback by the message, but relieved she no longer had to parade around in khakis and polo shirts. She chose a thin, flowing tank top. The sparkles along the dark red fabric perfectly matched the hem of her black skirt that stopped short a few inches above her knee and revealed the murals painted into the sides of Jana's legs. Starting at her feet, the depiction of a beautiful vine wove around her ankle and up her leg, blossoming into bursts of flowers on her thighs before disappearing beneath her clothing. Jana felt sexy and capable when she looked herself up and down in the mirror. She went down to the lobby for the complimentary breakfast as she waited for her ride. Not too long after she finished breakfast, her cell phone rang and she could see a limo pulling in front of the hotel. It was Cynthia, letting her know they were outside. As she stepped through the hotel doors onto the street, Cynthia emerged from the limo. She wore a tight blue dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. Cynthia smiled at Jana as she approached, nodding in approval at her appearance. During the short drive, Cynthia ran through what Jana could expect on the job. It was typical work as Cynthia explained. She would mostly be responsible for beverages and food. Cynthia smiled. "The plane is stocked with small amounts of almost anything imaginable, so satiating the needs of executives shouldn't be too far out of your capability." There was a hint too, of something in Cynthia's voice that Jana couldn't quite put a finger on. It was something that Cynthia hoped Jana would understand without needing it spelled out for her. But, Jana wasn't scared. She was eager to experience something different, and confidant that she could handle whatever they threw at her. They arrived at the airport and went through security. Cynthia already had an employee badge made up for Jana, and they got through pretty quickly. They turned from the main terminal and exited the building down a flight of stairs. The jet was parked on the tarmac, not too far away. Cynthia ushered Jana on board and she felt an odd sense of pride when she looked up towards the terminal windows of the airport, wondering how many pairs of eyes were on her at that moment. She stopped in her tracks when she saw the aircraft cabin. There was a table situated in front of a curved couch, six full-length lounge chairs with fold over desks, and an amazing amount of open space in place of rows and rows of cramped seating. The décor was a modern mutation of seventies hues and angles. In the back of the plane in one of the plush lounge chairs sat Jana's new boss. Over dinner he had introduced himself as Thomas, but said he preferred to be called by his middle name, Anton, instead. He waved to the women and motioned for them to come over. Jana wore a look of amazement as she walked down the aisle. He reached into a cabinet built into the wall of the plane and pulled out a box with the company's insignia on it. Anton handed it to Jana with a smile and welcomed her on-board. On the ride to the airport she learned the company was the front for an adult entertainment empire. Anton had started the company out of college and built it to expand over websites, social media clubs, movie production and distribution; along with a slew of other small niche ventures. Cynthia had joined with him early and earned a generous salary to be his personal assistant. As the company was continuing to rapidly grow, Cynthia was finding she might be better off working during the flights instead of playing the role of his personal flight attendant. Cynthia had said to Jana during the ride that she was being trained to take Cynthia's place with Anton in the skies. "And believe me," she said, "you'll be flying way up there in the skies… if you catch my wind." Jana had only smiled in return, but was beginning to get the hint. She opened the box in her hands and all of her suspicions were confirmed. Against a tiny, beautiful, black satin pillow sat a sterling pair of diamond nipple clamps. Jana looked down at them. She was shocked, but enticed. Instead of being nervous, Jana took the opportunity to make an impression and establish herself as part of her new crew. She looked Anton in the eye, feeling Cynthia drink in every moment. She took one of the nipple clamps from the box and attached it to her pinkie, admiring the glimmer of the diamonds in the light of the plane. "Is this the entire uniform, or can I add a few bracelets to the mix?" About the Author:
