Traveling into the Past #new_release #Immortal_Kindred

1/20/2020

Picture
What if you were able to go back in time? You knew you were in your past...would you be able to resist changing things? What if by changing things you changed your future?

I often wonder about this for myself. I didn't always make good choices in the past. The ability to change things is very tempting but I wouldn't want to give up the wonderful things in my life, like my children and my husband. Who knows just what any outcomes would be.

Two characters in Clara Winter's Dark Star face just that question. The group of immortals have angered someone they shouldn't have and now they face the consequences. Dark Star is the compelling final book in the Immortal Kindred series about vampires, witches and demon hunters. Living for a long time have given these characters a unique perspective on life and love.

Now available in ebook and print, you won't want to miss this amazing story!

Blurb:
The compelling final story in the enchanting series which began with Deepest Midnight….

The Immortal Kindred gather together as chaos erupts. Two of their own have gone missing, sucked back in time. Vampire demigod Selene messed with the wrong goddess of death. Now they’re all in danger.

Millicent and Annie come face to face with the distant past. No longer immortal, they must draw on their inner strength to see them through travails long thought dead and buried.

Tash, the witch, draws on every spell he knows to bring the women home as he taps into the power of the dark star. Will it be enough to grant the immortals their happily ever after? Will the goddess, Nephthys, put an end to everything they know and love?

Dark Star is an epic adventure that will take you all over the globe and through time itself.

EXCERPT:

Something was happening. The air around us swirled as if a tornado were forming. I caught a glimpse of golden hair and cried out. I could just see the form of Millicent, materializing mere feet from me. I wanted to run to her and pull her fully into the present, but I was stuck in my place by the torrent of wind.

In a loud peel of thunder, Nephthys was there. She stood tall and beautiful, her gold net dress glinting in the moonlight. Under the sway of Tash’s melodic chanting, I swayed on my feet. It took me several beats to realize this was the actual goddess standing in front of us. The others must have been entranced, as well. We were all frozen in a druglike stupor.

Then, everything happened too fast. Nephthys flung out her arms toward Tash. A fireball, large and flaming hot, appeared in her hand. “I’ll end you, then I’ll destroy the only means you have to ever get them back.”

My head snapped from Nephthys to the streak my sister made as she bolted across the clearing. She never saw Selene coming. Selene pounded into her, knocking the goddess down hard into the rocky ground.

Happy Release Day to Liz Ashlee and Sort of Normal #Book_Release #Release_Day #new_release #YA_Romance

1/13/2020

Picture
When a new book comes out, it's a celebration! Books make so many of us happy as we fall into the worlds that the author created and imagine ourselves along with the characters experiencing the ups and downs of life.

Today, Sort of Normal comes out. This amazing tale is an emotional roller coaster. The relationship between the two main characters reminded me of my own relationship with my first boyfriend. He'd been the one person I grew up with, from diaper-wearing toddler to best friends as adults. Tracey was the one person who knew me as no one else did.

Ms. Ashlee weaves the romance along with letters between the two characters so readers can understand the backstory and gain a glimpse into their relationship.

Now Available in Ebook and Print. This is a book you will want to read over and over again.

Blurb:
Falling in love isn’t as easy as staying in love.

Carter Hart and Boone Fell’s lives are tangle of perfect and imperfect memories. In a world of drugs, alcoholism and neglectful parents, their love for each other kept them strong. But all it takes is one kiss and a lie to tear them apart.

When Carter’s brother, Declan, dies of an overdose, Boone decides he can’t let another day of secrets and mistaken circumstances keep them apart. His only problem? Now that he’s ready to move forward with Carter, she’s ready to leave him where she thinks he belongs: in the past.

EXCERPT:
For once in my life, we're on even ground. "I don't like it," I tell him. "The nickname, I mean."

"You used to."

"I was little. I liked everything you said—including a nickname after an ugly bug. I tried to find one good thing about them, and you know what I found?"

He actually looks curious. "What?"

"They aren't harmful to humans or animals, and that's about it. They kill crops, burrow into the ground, come back out, and die. Oh, and they make good food for small creatures. I'm really glad that I represent that to you."

"I think they're actually beautiful, you know," he tells me as we come to a stop at a crosswalk and wait for the light to change. "They're resilient, and they always emerge around the same time. You can put a lot of faith in a Junebug to do what it's gotta do."

Love Prequels? Fall for Compulsion~

1/10/2020

Picture
Have you ever fallen in love with a series and wanted to know what made the hero who he was? We like to understand why people act certain ways. It helps us justify why a villain acts the way he does. Loki is one of my favorite Marvel characters and I'd love to see a movie about his childhood and frankly more of his life. (hint Marvel- are you listening?)

We like to classify people and figure out what made someone do something "bad".

Vanessa Garden has given us a glimpse into the generations before her captivating books- The Submerged Sun series.  Now we can learn how the underwater city came to be and what set in motion the conflicts which echoed down through the family.

Blurb:
Dive in deep to where it all began… a Submerged Sun Series prequel.

Nada is seventeen and hungry for adventure when handsome, blue eyed stranger Frano Tollin arrives on the shores of the Adriatic island paradise Nada calls home.

After a short courtship he whisks her away to a glittering underwater city, promising Nada a lifetime of adventure, excitement and most important of all, love.

At first, Nada feels as though she is living a dream, but when Frano's hunger for power takes a dark, obsessive turn, Nada begins to seek comfort in the arms of the one boy he forbids her to know, his mute younger brother, Lukas.

Will Nada return to her husband’s side, in hopes to break him free from his dark obsessions, or will she choose the forbidden Lukas, in hopes of finding the love she so desperately seeks…

New World by Liza O'Connor #New_release

NEW WORLD

Blurb

With much of Earth burning presently, soon Earth will fall into a very long ice age.

Fortunately, a group of women, men, half-saires, and one full-saire are hidden on a lovely island. The full-saire has a spaceship capable of leaving Earth and traveling to a more reliable planet that never grows too cold or hot.

However, when they arrive, the planet looks much like prehistoric Earth, with giant reptiles everywhere. Fortunately, Keelan and Tiburon are strong and mighty warriors. By noon, they have killed most of the deadly creatures that their life bubble protects. They also saved the life of a twelve-foot chicken-like creature who turns out to be sentient and a great help when locating dangers.

The two warriors were able to remove most of the T-Rexes as well. Only two had to be killed for refusing to leave their valley. Thus, they have survived day one.

But how long will their bullets and luck hold out?

EXCERPT
Jesse doesn’t understand why Enigma won’t talk to her. He’ll talk to everyone else.

“Do you think Enigma will talk to me on this new planet.”

Keelan replied at once. “No.”

Jesse huffed. “Why won’t he talk to me?”

“Because in his eyes, you are his Holy Mother, and you must be protected from all harm.”

“But this makes no sense. How would Enigma talking to me cause me harm?

“His brain is far more powerful than ours. Enigma can kill with a single thought. To protect you from harm, he will never speak to you directly. He will always ask another to speak to you.

Honestly, I should not be Holy Mother. A Holy Mother should be chaste, and I haven’t been that since I was six.”

“The meaning of Holy Mother is different from the meaning on Earth. To saires, it means a woman of exceptional kindness and love. And you must accept the title, for the Saire Gods have chosen you, and that concludes the matter.”

“And what is the Holy Mother to do?”

“Love all her people.”

“Oh, I can actually do that.”

“You can. But if you ever come upon a saire you cannot love, let me know.”

“So, more saires will be coming to our planet?”

“Definitely, Keelan assured her. We are short-handed. That is why I’ll be sending our ship to Saire once we kill the most serious dangers, remove the remaining creatures from the caves, and then build rooms within the caverns for our various needs. Only then will I send the ship to Saire with a message to join us.”

“Will all the saires be coming?”

“No, only the best of the male saires will be invited.”

“What about the women?”

“They will not come.”

“Why?” Jesse insisted.

“Because they are not invited.” Keelan sighed heavily. “We have sufficient females already.”

Compelling Read- New Release #Sky-To-Sea

1/6/2020

Picture
With the current events happening in our country and the world around us, Amanda Marin's latest release gives readers an engaging read that keeps them guessing and making connections to society.

In her first book, North to Nara, Neve and Micah fall in love. But they weren't allowed to love. They face discrimination, bullying and even death in order to be together. They look to the country next to them as the promised land where they can be together.

But things aren't always what they seem...

Blurb:
They thought their troubles were over … but they’ve only just begun.

For Neve Hall and Micah Ward, the New Republic has always represented more than its legends of snowflakes and butterflies. It has also meant hope—and the freedom to love. But reality differs from their dreams. Living in a shelter for refugees, the pair must convince their immigration case manager that they are worthy of citizenship. Failure means deportation back to the Nation—and their deaths.

But assimilating isn’t easy—especially when tensions between the Republic and Nation flare. Before long, Neve and Micah find themselves at the epicenter of the conflict, kidnapped and held hostage by Sans Murs, a group of radicals who won’t surrender until the Nation meets their demands. Sans Murs has named its terms, but the Nation has one of its own: Micah’s return. Torn between two worlds, are they fated to unravel?

EXCERPT:

I shake my head adamantly, struggling to find words to make him see the truth: that I only want him to be himself again. “I’m on your side, Micah—I’m always on your side. I don’t care about school or scars. I care about you—”

He’s too lost in his pain and grief and anger to hear me. When he looks at me, he only sees past hurt staring back at him. “If you didn’t want to be with me anymore, you could’ve just said so—you didn’t need to sign my death warrant by talking to Anh. I’m sure the Nation would’ve accepted you back knowing you’ve renounced me—”

I’m sobbing by now, my tears falling so fast that I’m practically blind. “I don’t want the Nation—I want you. I’ve always wanted you, from that first day in the Commons when you helped Luke.”

I try to take his hand again, but he turns away.

“Micah, don’t do this—don’t shut me out. Please. We’ve been through too much together,” I whisper.

I reach out to touch his shoulder, to try to calm and comfort him. He stands up, though, slipping from my grasp, and crosses the room. Without a word, he takes his jacket off its hook in the closet and leaves, slamming the door behind him. A bang so loud it seems to shake the building—and me—to the bones.

Alone, I cry until I fall asleep, still fully dressed, on top of the plain, starchy covers. I’ve known Micah Paxton Ward for nearly seven months. In that time, I’ve gone to bed loving him, dreaming of him, missing him, worried for him, and grateful to be beside him. I’ve never gone to sleep at night upset with him. Until now.

About the Author:
When Amanda was a child, her father traveled frequently for business, always bringing back a book as a present for her. Whether she was getting lost in the pages of a tale about far-away knights, girls with supernatural powers, or kindly giants, she was quickly hooked on stories.

Over the years, Amanda has followed her own yellow brick road of reading and writing, and although her adventures haven’t involved sword fights or saving the planet from certain annihilation, they have involved jobs in scholarly publishing and marketing, a modest amount of travel, and a lifelong love of novels.

Amanda holds degrees in English from Salve Regina University and Boston College. Her favorite things include Starbucks lattes, lazy summer afternoons at the beach, and books with characters that make you go “awww.” She lives in New Hampshire with her family and furbaby, Snickers the Poodle.
