School is Challenging, even for Angels #cover_reveal

4/26/2020

Picture
While it's been over thirty years since I was in high school, I do recall some of mine. There were good friends and some great times but it was also challenging. I didn't "fit in" with the popular crowd. Not a cheerleader or sports star, I was in a group by myself. To make it harder, I only went to three years of high school because of my smarts so I hid between two different grades.

But with my own experience, it wasn't half as challenging as it is for students at White Feathers Academy- a heavenly school for angels.

Phyllis Cherry has written a compelling story of a young girl who must face the hardest part of her life and do so while taking tests and making friends. White Feathers Academy is a perfect read for teens and people who love reading!

Blurb:
WHAT IF - Somewhere in the galaxy there is a school taught by angels?
WHAT IF – A young person with no special talent finds the one perfect gift?
WHAT IF – Youngsters who failed to survive their first life are given a new life?
WHAT IF – One evil young girl threatens talented students with her greed?

Halo Havens didn’t know that angels had special talents and different jobs.
She’d never met an android, talked to a giant fish or met an angel.
Her life changed the day she skated in front of a car trying to rescue a puppy and was transported to the fantastic world of White Feathers Academy. There she makes new friends, accepts the challenge of a seemingly hopeless job and embarks on the greatest adventure of her new young life, if she can survive the tests.

High School Bullies? Or Demons? Bryn Tells All!

4/21/2020

Picture
High school is hard enough for most teens. They are awkward, clumsy and longing to be seen as adults. Toss in demons and witchcraft... you have a fun romp!

Kristy Centeno's latest release- Crossed, is a great coming of age story. Bryn faces the normal parts of high school--assignments, bullies, bad hair days but she also has demons and fire!

Now available in ebook and print, Crossed is a prequel in the Keeper Witches series. Book one- Keeper of Lost Souls releases in May.

Blurb:
Bryn McCaskey lived by simple rules: kill demons, never use magic against school bullies, and avoid running her mouth in front of her Grams.

It all seemed easy enough to follow.

Until Rhyzel Connor rolled into her life.

Suddenly everything she thought she knew about demons is put to the test as she finds herself teaming up with the most unusual of teammates to save a fellow witch from a hit.

Only problem is she doesn’t know how trustworthy Rhyzel is.

When magic is involved a good outcome isn’t always guaranteed and Bryn will have to put her neck on the line to get to the bottom of the well, even if it means unmasking Rhyzel and everything he stands for in an attempt to solve the biggest mystery she’s ever come across.

EXCERPT:
Heavy footsteps stopped right outside the seventh door. Something pounded on the wood once, twice, as if requesting an invitation to come inside.

The creepy factor tipped the scale.

I spread my legs apart as the door to the apartment rattled. Something insisted on testing the endurance of the wooden frame repeatedly. I brought my right arm to my chest, fingers curled into a fist.

And then I waited.

The door exploded into giant splinters as the first demon burst into the living room. It wasn’t as big as my imagination had led me to believe, but it wasn’t small either. Taller than me for sure. And bulkier by far. It resembled a human kangaroo hybrid, but not nearly as cuddly. Definitely not cute. Not remotely.

In my short career as a Keeper witch I’d seen my share of ugly demons. This pointy-eared, stocky, brown-skinned walking nightmare was among the top five. Its short snout was filled with triangular teeth that seemed deadly sharp. It held its girth on two muscled legs with inverted knees and three-inch talons on each of its toes.

Behind that demon stood at least a dozen more monsters like it, waiting to be granted access to their prey of choice. Their slanted eyes studied me with predatory hunger. Except for the occasional twitch of their elf ears, not one of them moved. Or growled. Or challenged me. Not until the one in the front dipped its massive head back, howled, then bolted toward me.

Danger and Protection #New_release

4/6/2020

Picture
Danger and protection. Fight and Flight. Opposites. When danger arrives, we have a choice to make. Are we going to stand and fight or run away to safety. Sometimes the choice is taken out of our hands. We do it to protect others, such as our children, but when confronted, we must decide how we are going to handle it.

Janalyn Knight's new release features a dangerous ex-con bent on revenge and the protection of a strong cowboy. This story is super charged with action and thrills. A Must Read!

Blurb:

A fragile heart, damaged from a devastating loss, must build walls for protection. The threats of an ex-con drive a mother to extremes to protect her son. With two souls hesitant to trust, will they find the forgiveness and freedom to love?

The last thing Ward Ramsey expects to find is Jayme Bonner on his doorstep, applying for his ranch hand position with her young son in tow. The complicated situation makes him want to turn her away, but the desperation in her eyes reaches him in an unexpected way.

Jayme never thought she'd be fleeing for her life and the safety of her son. Ward’s North Texas ranch could be the sanctuary she needs, and she throws herself into the job with all of her ranching knowledge and skills. As the two work closely together, feelings neither expected grow, and a passion hot enough to heat the cool nights ignites.

As love blossoms and long-held barriers fall, danger creeps into their newfound happiness. When Ward is injured by the ex-con hunting Jayme, the determined ranch hand decides it's time to take the battle to the hateful man out to kill her.

Hatred stands no chance against this woman on a mission...

EXCERPT:
A loud sound woke her. Her head shot up. What time was it? She checked the clock on the bedside table. Eleven-thirty. Her cell phone pealed again. Hoping Dusty didn’t wake, she punched the green button and whispered, “Hello?”

“Hi there, bitch.”

Blacke! She gasped, cold terror racing through her limbs.

“That’s right. It’s me. You think you can hide? Think again. I’ll find you. And jail gave me lots of time to think about what I’ll do to you when I do. You and me? We’re going to have some fun. Sleep good now.” He hung up.

She lay there, clutching the phone and unable to move. Prison hadn’t changed him at all. He was coming for her. She shivered, suddenly icy cold and vulnerable.

She moved to the couch and covered herself with the quilt her mother had lovingly made. Its usual calming magic held no sway tonight. How could she protect herself? How could she protect Dusty? The man was brutal, insane when he was angry. His attack was proof of that. She’d never felt quite as alone as she did right this moment.

Praise of the book:
In Cowboy Refuge, author Janalyn Knight sends a strong woman to seek refuge at Ward’s ranch. Once he falls for Jayme and realizes the gravity of her situation, he’s enough of a gentleman to want to save her, but independent Jayme doesn’t need his help. A sweet romance with a bit of after-the-wedding-ceremony spiciness. - Suanne Schafer author of A Different Kind of Fire

While Detroit isn't the only town feeling like a ghost town, it's my town and such a sad state. I can't wait to see how it comes alive as Detroit makes ventilators and face shields.
