Abby Has Gone Wild
by Fiona Murphy

Genre: Erotic Romance

It was just supposed to be a one time thing, posting a naked picture of herself on a social website that has hundreds of other women doing the same thing. Only it very quickly hooked Abby on the high of knowing that others desired her body. Until it’s just one man that has her full attention.

Jack is gorgeous and he wants her and it’s Abby’s worst luck, she believes, that he’s in the same city of Austin. Abby isn’t ready for more than what she can give from behind the safety of her keyboard. But Jack won’t take no for an answer when her body and her moans are telling him yes. Tracking her down Jack is even more enticing in person than from behind the computer and she can’t ignore that her body wants him just as badly as he wants her. Jack won’t give up on her and Abby has to decide if she’s willing to give up the safety of being alone to let Jack in.

“So why don’t you like cops again?”

“Before I answer that you have to tell me how it is you never once mentioned you were a cop. You talked about coworkers and dealing with assholes but nothing you said ever hinted at you being a cop.”

“You’re right and it wasn’t by chance, I’m sorry. Especially, considering just how much it means to you. I guess for the longest time it’s always been something I hold back until I feel comfortable or the person feels comfortable enough with me. With you, I always felt you holding a part of yourself back and that you were skittish and I didn’t want to scare you away. There are many people, not just you who have a preconceived picture in their head and most people, they think cops are dicks. Yes, there are other officers I’ve seen who get off on the power trip of their badge and I’ve seen some do things I wish I hadn’t. So, I can’t say I blame people for the way they think. For me though, that’s not who I am and I would expect people to get that. But for them to feel like they can’t be real with me because I’ll arrest for something stupid, I still can’t understand that.

Then there are some women out there who like the uniform and get off on it. For them, it could be any guy and they’re all over him.

So yeah, it wasn’t by accident and that wasn’t really fair. Again, I’m sorry for holding back on you. I won’t say I regret it because then we wouldn’t be here now. You would have heard it and ran and I might not have been able to catch you.”

His eyes are soft and since he’s right and I feel the same way, I give him a smile to let him know it’s okay. The look of relief on his face makes me feel better. “When I first moved to Austin I had a roommate and she was dating a cop. He was very controlling, he didn’t want to live with her, he needed his own space. Yet, he had a say over who she lived with. I hadn’t changed my name yet and he figured a Senator’s daughter was safe. He was the one who set the no man in the apartment rule and warned me if I was going to be one of those sixth street crawlers I would be out on my ass. He was there a lot and he told her what she could and couldn’t eat, told her when he thought she was getting fat and what she could wear. He didn’t want her wearing make up unless they went out together. It made me ill.

Then there’s Claire, I know I complained once about her to you. Her boyfriend’s also a cop and an asshole, controlling and manipulative. It’s weird, sometimes it seems like he doesn’t even want to be with her but he doesn’t end it.

He reminds me of my father. My father had been a Marine, it seems like all of them, soldiers, cops and anyone with a badge they’re all alike. Controlling, giving orders, and demanding. My father has about pounded out all of who my mother ever was before he met her. She’s what he made her, pretty, empty and a puppet.”

“Is that why you changed your name to your mother’s maiden name, Dixon?”

I nod and thank the waitress for the juice. Remembering the backlash from me changing my last name causes a twist in my lips that some would call a smile, but it isn’t. “He cut me off completely then and I was relieved for it. I haven’t talked to him actually since about a week after he left me at the hospital. He was demanding I come to work for him in DC, it was laughable. He’d pretty much ignored me for the last four years. He was so pissed when he found out I didn’t apply to Ivy League schools. I just wanted to go to the University of Washington in Tacoma. I was afraid to leave my mom alone with him, I think her coming to visit me three or four times a year was the closest thing she got to freedom. Then after that night in the hospital he only referred to me as the whore or slut. Why would he think I would want anything to do with him?”

“Why doesn’t she leave him?” He reaches across the table and takes my hand in his. I had no idea my hand had curled into a fist and have to consciously unfurl it. Stroking the back of my hand his touch is soothing and light.

“It’s something I talk to her about at least once a year, it used to be every time she came to see me in Tacoma. She won’t, she’s too scared. He married her when she was nineteen and he was forty two, did you catch that? I’m assuming you hit up Google?” He nods. “She was just a kid. She didn’t know better. Had no idea what she was getting herself into. He’s got her so brainwashed, she can’t comprehend life without him. What will I do? Who will I be? She asks me, when I try to talk to her. She does the committees and the volunteering but they’re all ones he picked out. I know he’s hit her and hurt her. When she came to visit me in the hospital she tried to tell me not to listen to my father. What would he know about what I had gone through, for him it was a regular Thursday night.”

“Jesus christ.” He exhales as he squeezes my hand lightly.

I have enjoyed reading from a very young age and it wasn't long before the children books bored me and I read the books my mother enjoyed Stephen King and Dean Koontz and I didn't sleep without the light on until I was about ten.

I came across my first Harlequin by accident and it was love at first read, no one died and happy endings? It was a whole new world and I loved it.

I wrote my first story at eight and everyone died, of course. Since then I would like to think I've gotten better and now I'm writing the happily ever afters I first fell in love with, with some hot sex thrown in along the way.

Savannah Sacrifice
by Danica Winters

Genre: Paranormal

Series: Nymph Series Book 4

Answers that she must find… A truth that he can’t escape…And ghosts up to no good…

Being a demi-god has its privileges. For the young nymph, Starling Jackson, it means the gift of seduction and more than that—near immortality. Yet, when her life is filled with spirits, immortality may not be all it’s cracked up to be.

With the help of her bodyguard, Jasper Gray, and secret books left to her by her late-mother’s friend, she may have found the answer to all of her problems. First, they must find a way to locate the books in their enemy’s hotbed all while staying safe and most importantly—without falling in love.

In the battles between the head and the heart and enemies and friends, tough decisions must be faced—and sacrifices made.

Picture
It was a strange feeling to know that she was probably going to die and to not really care. The last year of Starling Jackson’s life had been filled with ghosts, lies, her mother’s murder, and the death of an enemy—a death fraught with dangerous threats. Finally, the time had come to make her stand against her world and the ghosts and enemies who inhabited it, even if that stand cost her the only thing she had left to give: her life.

She walked through the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and to the baggage claim area where a cluster of people moved in a precarious dance of personalities, the boldest of which pushed to the front of the group while the rest escaped to the far recesses of the room. Starling stood in the middle, pushed back by those struggling for a place at the front and nudged forward to stand as a barrier from the melee by those who hated the entire situation.

Don’t let them push you. You are stronger than this … take control, the familiar voice of the ghost Asclepius echoed in her mind.

“Oh, I’ll take control.” Reaching into her bag, Starling took out her pills and swallowed down a tablet. That made six. Or was it seven pills today? Regardless, it was a new record. There was no doubt the medicine was losing its effect in keeping the spirits at bay. If she didn’t find the Libros Umbrarum books soon, there wouldn’t be any break from the endless whispers and threats of the ghosts that invaded her reality.

I’ll be back … You will have to listen to me soon enough … Asclepius quieted.

“Not if I have my way.”

Tempting the Ringmaster by Aleah Barley

Step right up and welcome to the circus where anything can—and will—happen. Tempting the Ringmaster is a fast paced romantic comedy about a small town cop… and the big top girl who just showed up next door:

“My name’s Belle.”

“Belle. Beauty.” He gave her a slow nod, like his neck hurt. His lips pulled back into a wolfish grin. His eyes lowered slightly, their gaze deep and penetrating. Starting at her bare feet and moving upwards, caressing her jean clad legs, climbing upwards to linger on her mouth. “Does that make me the beast?”

So, why did I choose the circus as the setting for my novel?

Too much television. Seriously, there was a PBS documentary series not too long ago titled Circus.

I loved it.

I also loved the idea of creating a contemporary setting that most people knew very little about, a place with a structured hierarchy—like a pirate ship—and modern conveniences like cell phones. If the circus is a pirate ship then Belle-Anne Black is the captain… and Graham is the government agent ready to take her down.

Of course, he’s also a sexy beast.

I hope you like the novel, and I hope you fall in love with the circus. I’m hard at work on a sequel or two. I appreciate all comments and questions. I can also be reached at [email protected] and you can find out more about my books at aleahbarley.blogspot.com!

Picture
Welcome to Buck Falls, Michigan, where the gossip is fresh, the people are feisty, and the circus has pulled in for a limited engagement.

The last thing police chief Graham Tyler needs is a ragtag bunch of circus freaks rolling into town.

Then he meets sassy, spirited, ringmaster Belle-Anne Black.

Belle-Anne's got a rule against dating townies, and she's not about to break it... even for the spicy hot lawman who makes her insides sizzle. Then Graham makes her an offer she can't refuse: one night only, no repeat performances.

Of course, in the circus nothing ever goes exactly to plan.

.A Gentleman Always Finds Out by Layna Pimentel #SCP #bookspotlight

A GENTLEMAN ALWAYS FINDS OUT ~ LAYNA PIMENTEL
Blurb:
Ruined and jilted, Mariah Harris, with her cousin, plots against the rogue who dared to insult her and her family. What she doesn’t expect is for their plan to lead them astray…on the wrong side of the law.
Julian Kingsley is ready to give up working for the crown, only he’s given one last mission. He agrees, but gets more than he bargains for. When a dalliance with a mysterious woman suddenly reveals her connections to his case, he’s honor bound to turn her in, but his heart can’t seem to give her up.

Excerpt:
May 15, 1816
London, England
“Edwina Mosley, you are out of your ever-loving mind! We look like…You are dressed as a strumpet and well…I am in breeches. I look far too feminine to be a man!” Mariah Harris scowled and clenched her fists at her sides. This whole plot was idiotic, and if they were not thrown in Newgate, they would certainly end up in Bedlam.
“Yes, of course, dear. I thought you understood our plan from the beginning. It is a sound one, cousin. Once I stop the messenger and beg his assistance, you will sneak out of those bushes and snatch his bag,” Edwina retorted with a drawl. “My sources have informed me that he passes through here every night at the same time. So, we shall not be waiting long.”
How can she be so sure? Mariah gritted her teeth and curled her toes in irritation. “If there was ever a moment I regret, it was telling you about this mess with Crispin. I only meant to find out where he is staying in London and who with. My poor father is convinced he will come back, but if he does, it will only be for food and shelter.” Nothing more. He had successfully made Mariah the largest fool in all of Kent. That blasted scoundrel!
“Mariah, I am positive this plan will work. Once the satchel is in our possession, we will rifle through for anything addressed to Crispin. From there, you will be free to humiliate the stupid sod and carry on with your life. Now, stop being a ninny and go hide. Hurry! I think I hear a horse.”
Mariah wandered into the shrubbery, hoping she did not step on an adder, or even worse, walk through a spider’s web. Good heavens, if papa ever found out I dressed in a man’s riding outfit, he would send me away to a nunnery for certain.
A few moments passed before the sound of a galloping horse approached. The beast slowed his gait by trotting as he grew closer, coming to a halt where Edwina stood next to a wagon.
She pleaded in a tone befitting a damsel in distress, “Please, sir. I am in need of assistance. I implore you. I should have been home hours ago, but the cart…”
“Say no more, miss. I will see what I can do.” the messenger stated plainly. “Should I dare ask how long you have been stranded for?”
“Only for an hour, sir. I am on my way to London and thought to stop in Maidstone for the night.”
When Mariah popped her head out, she spotted the young man climbing down from his mount. Off in the distance, a rickety cart approached, the driver swaying in his seat. Now, we are were done for. Before they had left her shop, Edwina had managed to convince her that this road was not much travelled on after dark. Only the gent delivering messages from the militia in the north would be expected. What were the odds—on this particular night—that another traveler would pass through?
Sliding the sack off his shoulder, the messenger crouched down by the rear wheel of the pony wagon she and her cousin had sabotaged.
Not long after, Mariah heard the trundling of the other cart squeal until it came to a stop. A middle-aged man stumbled out, falling flat on his face. Too foxed to drive successfully, he clearly would not pose a problem to the scenario.
Now is my chance. Mariah leapt out of the bushes and, while everyone was too distracted in aiding the sotted fool, she grabbed the bag before running back to her hiding spot. Only this time, she did not stop. She ran like the devil until she found the meadow in which she had left her own clothing and horse.
Heart racing, she dropped the cap her long hair had been tucked into, kicked off her shoes, and quickly stripped out of the breeches and loose-fitting shirt she wore. Then, she slipped on her cream-colored riding gown and strapped the satchel to the mare, covering it with the blanket she had used to conceal her dress while in disguise.
She wasted no time taking her place in the saddle. Wrapping her cape around her shoulders, she shifted the side so that it hid the blanket as well before riding back to the inn where she planned on meeting with Edwina. It would be a miracle if they were not caught after this ludicrous theft.
The only visual she retained during the trip was the gallows, and it was that image which kept her from slowing her pace. She had never committed a crime before, and this would take the bucket as far as mischief went. Never in all her twenty-one years had she stooped so low. It was unprecedented, outlandish, and completely unforgivable.
Leave it to the man she had foolishly thought she was in love with. No one could drive her to the brink of madness like Crispen. His words meant nothing. In hindsight, his pledge of love and fidelity was meaningless. His ploy to get under her skirts had worked, and now she was ruined.
In return, Mariah would ruin him. And I cannot wait to see his face when he is discovered. Where To Buy:

TAKING EVE
by Tina Donahue

Picture
Blurb:

A willing slave to possession, punishment, pleasure…

Dreams of a manor where submission and dominance once ruled draws Faith to hypnotherapist Colin Danes. Potently virile, he looks remarkably like her most cherished master from a past life. Desire smolders in his eyes, proving he’s never forgotten her.

Their carnal dance continues in the present and leads to their past when she was known as Eve. Through hypnotherapy, Colin brings her back to the Victorian era, a hidden estate where she eagerly submits to whatever he and her other noble masters crave. The exquisite discipline of the strap. Being bid on and mounted each night. Displayed and used for the enjoyment of all.

Most will take her. One will try to imprison her. Only he will be her true master in that life and this.

Picture
Eve was still bathing when he came for her. A man whose presence she’d frequently felt. A stranger she’d often seen riding past this cottage, his steed magnificent, a sorrel with a startling white mane and tail.

At those times, she’d noted the man’s well-defined features, noble bearing, the way his attention had focused on her alone. How his gaze had lingered and possessed, warming her skin, calling to everything female within her, demanding her submission. She’d given it, not moving, scarcely drawing a breath, her work forgotten.

Nothing except him had mattered.

Not once had he spoken or made a demand. During his increasingly prolonged observations of her, he’d been content—or obliged—to do no more than look.

Now, she saw the rope he held in one gloved hand.

Eve’s belly fluttered.

The ends of the rope jumped as he moved past the doorway, his height requiring him to stoop to avoid striking his head. He wore no top hat. Snow dusted his dark hair and shoulders. His ankle-length cloak was of fine black wool, lined with fur, his eveningwear consisting of a dark coat cinched at the waist and trousers of the same color. Fresh milk couldn’t compete with the flawless white of his vest and cravat, tied perfectly about his throat.

He closed the door, bolting it against interruption of what he was about to do.

The thought of it—and the metal’s sharp clack—caused Eve to start. Her pulse pounded fiercely. The candles Mrs. Trumble had lit stopped flickering at the wind’s departure. A few stray snowflakes floated in the air.

Eve felt none of the chill that he’d brought inside, only intense heat, spreading from her chest to her belly and cunt, then to her neck. Her throat tightened, not allowing her to make any sound as he stopped just short of the tub. Close enough for her to see his lushly lashed eyes, of the purest blue, more glorious than any sky.

He regarded her naked breasts to the exclusion of every other part of her and spoke for the first time. “Pull back your arms and arch your back. Present yourself to me.”

His voice was quiet yet commanding, smooth yet rough with arousal.

Unsteady with desire, Eve did as he wanted. She had no other choice. She wanted none. With her back arched and her arms drawn back, she lifted her breasts in offering.

He studied the ripe globes and her tightened nipples at a leisurely pace, moving from one side of the tub to the other to get his fill.

Eve remained a silent, obedient witness to his brazen perusal. Craving and enjoying it, desire pulsing through her.

A small smile touched his lips as her breasts quivered with her quick breaths. At length, his attention moved lower, to the part of her the bath continued to hide. Its violet-scented water reflected the candles’ flames, which tinted it gold and orange. Warm colors that hardly matched the heat blazing within Eve.

“You know what to expect?” he asked.

She nodded.

“All of it?”

Eve thought not, so she shook her head.

He seemed pleased by that and began, “From this moment forward, you’re never to cover yourself in any of your Masters’ presence. Your breasts, nipples, mouth, cunt, ass and anus are ours to use as we please. Whatever we require of you, no matter how demanding or indecent, you’re to obey with the greatest haste. You belong to us now. We have your agreement. Did you make it willingly?”

Eve had.

The heavy beat of the music filled the Urban Wolf Club. The place was packed to overflowing. Liam had sought the privacy of his office just to get away from everything and everyone, even if that meant rustling through the papers on his desk trying to decide what bills to pay first. The check book was open, and he’d already paid ten bills. “Damn I hate doing this shit. It’s hard to think with all this noise.”

At times it could be difficult running two different clubs. Tonight both were packed. It was talent night, the night for local performers to show off their best. They came from all around to sing, dance, and play various instruments for the chance to win a big prize, to be on stage and be heard. Some had real potential, and on a few occasions talent scouts had come to his club to hear the performances. So, tonight was the busiest night of the season in both clubs and to make things worse, the moon was full.

Upstairs he catered to the local humans while downstairs he hosted the more special clientele. Both groups had their issues at times, especially when the supernaturals mixed with the human customers. And, he had a feeling, it was going to be a particularly challenging evening. A large group of Sensual Witches was visiting on their way to the new Lustulian temple to serve as priestesses. For the moment, the lusty women and the local pack of werewolves were downstairs enjoying some carnal delights.

Even in his back office, the sound was overpowering. “I just need to give it up.” Liam put his head in his hands. “But I gotta get these paid tonight.” He slammed open his ledgers, then turned on the computer. He could smell the varied scents of all of the people in his territory. The human patrons paid the bills and kept his cash flow where he liked it. But their emotions were powerful and he could sense them, especially the more nefarious ones. Sometimes they threw him into overdrive. He was a predator and some of them were no more worthy than prey.

Damn, I need a vacation. He snarled. I’ve gotta get away from everything.

After writing two more checks, he stuffed them into envelopes. The annoying noise pounded in Liam’s aching head. “Fuck, I can’t think, there’s too much going on here tonight.” He threw down his pen, and it rolled off the other side of the desk. As he was about to get up to retrieve it, there was a knock at his door. “What?” His jaw tightened with irritation.

“There’s a delivery for the kitchen.” Tobias opened the door to stick his head in.

“Come in.” Liam waved.

“They need your signature. I’ve checked everything, it’s all here.” Tobias pushed the door open and walked to Liam’s desk.

“Kinda late for a delivery on a Friday night.”

Tobias stopped at the front edge of his desk. His hair was unfashionably long and shaggy. He handed Liam the bill of goods. Liam reviewed, signed it, and then handed it back to him.

“It’s only 6:30.” Tobias shrugged. “It’s not really all that late.”

“Oh, guess not.”

“But why are you working on a Friday night? You’re the boss.”

“It’s gotta get done.” Liam frowned. “I’ve got nothing better to do, and I just don’t want to deal with the crowds tonight.”

“Can I bring you anything? You should really cut lose. Enjoy the night.”

Liam barely heard Tobias, his mind deep in thought as he looked over the next bill to be paid. “Hey, you listening?”

“What?” Liam looked up. “You still here?”

“Yeah. Did you hear me?” Tobias frowned.

“I guess not.” He looked back down at his ledger.

“I asked if you’d like me to bring you something.”

“Nah, I’m fine. I have some whiskey.”

“Okay. Call if you need anything.” Tobias closed the door as he left.

What do you get when you put a hardworking, can-do middle-class young woman together with an egoistical, outrageous, billionaire boss, then throw in the worst week of disasters imaginable?

Book 1 of the 4 book series A Long Road to Love, named Worst Week Ever.

Trent Lancaster spends one month without his Executive Assistant (or as his driver refers to Carrie: 'Trent's brain, left hand, and right hand'). He's had a miserable month without her at his side and to ensure it never happens again, he intends to marry this brilliant beauty. Only given all the times he's threatened to fire her, he's not sure she even likes him. However, the future of his company and his happiness depend upon him succeeding, so Trent begins a slow one week seduction that happens to coincide with Carrie Hanson's Worst Week Ever when everything that can go wrong does so in hilarious form.

(Hilarious to the reader, Carrie is not having much fun this week.)

Excerpt

Carrie squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the thump of a body against the limo’s hood.

“Maybe I shouldn’t have insisted Sam take a shortcut,” Trent muttered beneath his breath.

She groaned softly. If her boss questioned his actions, then matters must look grim outside. She tensed even further, expecting to hear multiple bodies slam into the car.

Sam braked hard, turned right, and resumed driving a billion miles an hour. If not for the seat belts, she and Trent would’ve sailed into the front seat, and then plastered against the door. To secure her further, Trent protectively placed an arm around her shoulder and pulled her against his warm chest.

She focused on the thumping of his heart. It beat once to three of hers. God, how can he be so calm?

Determined to match his bravery, she tried to raise her head, but he wouldn’t let her.

“Just a little longer, I hope. Sam, when do we depart this third world country?”

“Two more blocks, sir.”

“Thank God. You’ve terrified poor Carrie to death.”

Instantly, the limo’s speed dropped.

She turned her head sideways so Sam might be able to hear her words. “Your driving doesn’t frighten me, Sam, the neighborhood does.”

As if on cue, a round of three loud pops sounded, followed by three thunks into her side door. She squeaked like a mouse at the first thunk. By the third, her body shivered in fear.

Trent’s arms tightened around her as the limo picked up speed again. “We’re okay,” he assured her, then his lips pressed against her temple. His calm certainty silenced her tremors.

Having successfully soothed her, he released his outrage upon Sam. “Why the hell did you drive us through here?”

Sam calmly replied as he drove the car at a billion miles an hour, taking corners at deadly speeds. “I warned you the locals might not welcome us.”

“Someone just shot at us?” Trent yelled.

Sam’s nonchalant reply sounded almost surreal. “I’m sure they didn’t mean for you to take it personally, sir.”

Maybe none of this is happening. Maybe I fell asleep in the traffic and my dream has gone rogue.

Her heart calmed and she nuzzled closer to Trent, breathing in his masculine scent. Secure in her dream, she confessed something she never would in real life. “You smell good.”

Trent’s arms relaxed a bit and he chuckled. “It’s called Trent. I had the cologne custom developed. They assessed my natural odors and then determined the optimal combination of scents to create my unique smell.”

She snorted. Even in her dreams, he remained the strangest man she’d ever met. If she had all the money in the world, she’d try to end poverty and violence in…whatever hell they’d just driven through, not have some custom designed perfume created so she’d smell really, really good.

Story Excerpt:

Okay, a minute longer and she would’ve lost all control. The Dragon Man totally unhinged her confidence. Would he want to be with her when he finished whatever he had to do? Or, was she pretty much on her own? Dayum! She wanted him, and how strange was that? Sure, it was a losing proposition to think she wouldn’t see him later, but she could hope. When he put his hand on her back and led her to the couch, she nearly came unglued and collapsed on the floor. How she made it the fifteen or so feet before doing so amazed her.

Something about the man’s voice, the way he carried himself, and the gentleness he used to touch her pulled her up into his sphere like a physical force she couldn’t fight. A blend of indescribable magnetism she’d not felt before. He had an edgy darkness and demand and total male confidence and dominance.

Holy crap. He looked the same way with his black leather pants and motorcycle boots. A matching leather vest only just covered his bare chest. His sandy blond hair was slicked back from his face, and a tie of some kind held everything in place. The stubble on his jaw gave him a fierce look which only accentuated the ice blue stare he gave her at the moment. What fascinated her more was the tattoo snaking up his arm and disappearing under the vest.

Despite her fears of being at this club, her pulse jumped in anticipation of spending time with the Dragon Man. Watching his backside as he walked away, she couldn’t help but admire his exquisite physique. Those pants accentuated his thighs to perfection. Double dayum!

When he suggested they talk about BDSM, there was no alternative but to get defiant or bitchy as Bailey would term the behavior. True, this was the first and probably last opportunity she’d have to learn first-hand instead of reading the fictional books sitting on her tablet or packed in a box. Everything she’d seen so far at Tabu came straight out of her fantasies, including the Dragon Man. She was tired of living in her head, but he was too real, too scary, and too damn sexy. Was she crazy not to take advantage of it? When would a man like him ever drop into her lap again?

Questions? She had a million of them, but to ask him? No way on God’s green earth could she talk to him about such intimate things. Dayum again! She was still a virgin, and though she understood the mechanics of sex, she knew the first time would be weird. Like where to put her hands or how far should she spread her legs, or would it hurt? Do it on a bed and in the dark? She knew the answer to that one. He’d want to have every light off because she wasn’t exactly the most beautiful woman. A man like Brock Dragon could have his pick of gorgeous women. She glanced at the woman blindfolded and hog-tied only ten feet away.

She’s even pretty with a beautiful full figure shape. Wish I could look that good.

Karlie didn’t fit in. No way, no how, no matter how hard she tried and no amount of makeup would put her in the league with her cousin or any of the women at Tabu. Sure they were all shapes and sizes, but they seemed happy that way. Karlie still had some mental work to do on her weight issues. True, she’d lost a good amount of pounds eating right and exercising, but she wasn’t in model shape. She still had more to lose.

Then there was the underlying issue of what happened at Tabu and acceptance of the fact she really was interested even though she tried to hide the fact from the Dragon Man. Bondage? Spanking? Punishment? Self-conscious, sitting alone, and in the dark shadows of the room, she squirmed. Only minutes before she sought the sanctuary of the dark space, but she now felt lonely and scared. What the heck was she thinking letting the Dragon Man talk her into coming? She should’ve called a cab at Bailey’s.

Screw it! Karlie rose from the couch and went in search of Bailey. She had to get out of there before she gave into her curiosity and desires. Sitting and talking with her cousin until she could hitch a ride back to her parents’ house might keep her mind off the tempting pressures surrounding her. Certainly Jared wouldn’t fuss if she asked him to make a slight detour.

“Hey, Bail. I’m not interrupting anything, am I?”

“Cuz! No, come sit with me. Jared went to check on something with one of the other Doms.”

Karlie sat at the opposite end of the couch. Her cousin was propped up on several pillows and her legs stretched over the length of the couch, not leaving much room for anyone else and barely for Karlie. She tucked in tight against the armrest.

“Did you get in trouble with your husband?”

“No, not really. His bark is a lot louder than his bite ever could be. Well, sort of.” Bailey rubbed her belly. “He’d never hurt me or the baby, so don’t look at me like that.”

“I’m not looking any way. He seemed upset with you. That’s all.”

“You don’t understand our dynamic or any kind of relationship, do you?”

“I guess not. I’ve read stuff, but no, I don’t. I mean chains and whips and-and I saw that very pretty blonde from the barbeque being led around like-like a dog on a leash. I-I’m just not sure about this.”

She laughed. “Cuz, they’re Master and slave. Sir and I aren’t into that particular kind of relationship, but it seems to work for Khari.”

“Master and-and sl-lave?” Intellectually shocked, she couldn’t imagine anyone in today’s times would agree to have that kind of arrangement.

Adult Excerpt:

He raised his eyebrows. She answers questions with questions? She’s a very challenging woman. He could see it in her eyes, and those wheels were constantly turning in her head. “Miss Larson, I told you before, you aren’t crazy. Now, let’s stop talking and get started on your lesson. There’s nothing for you to fear.”

She smiled. “Yes, Sir.”

“Oh, Doc.” He cupped her warm cheek in his hand. “You’re so adorable.” He didn’t want to stop touching her. In fact, he wanted to kiss those delectable lips, to taste her, and feel her, but that wasn’t part of the plan. He pulled his hand away and only kissed her cheek. He stood and took a step back. “Stand please.”

As she followed his direction, he searched through his toy bag. He glanced over his shoulder to check her. Her eyes were closed, but a tiny smile was on her face which made him express one as well. She was so brave which endeared her more. It was way too soon for him to have such feelings for a woman he met only a few hours before. He completely understood her fears because he had them too. Imagine, he thought he might be crazy to have this strong an attraction to a woman. Once he found what he needed next, he approached her.

“Before we proceed, Miss Larson, I need you to remove your bra for me.”

Her eyes popped open. “What?”

“Miss Larson?”

Her eyes tracked up to his and the look in them indicated she recognized the little wicked sadist standing before her. Yeah, he had an evil streak sometimes when he played. He hadn’t planned on stripping her naked, not for her first time, but he couldn’t help himself when he saw the nipple clamps in his bag. Yeah, he was evil, but he had a hunch she’d take them without too much resistance. For research, of course. He could hear her voice in his head saying those words.

He watched with pleasure as she removed the lacy bra, keeping her gaze frozen with his. She dropped the bra to the floor. She trembled, but not as much as a few minutes before. It took all his strength not to let out a resounding gasp in recognition of the beautiful sight before him. God, she was more delightful than he expected. Her breasts were pert, full, and her nipples were already hardening into tight peaks.

Maintaining eye contact, he stepped forward. With one hand, he ran his knuckles along her cheek, leaned in, and brushed his mouth against her lips. While keeping her distracted, he reached with his free hand to her breast. He pinched and kneaded the nipple between his thumb and finger. After a minute he managed to affix the tweezer clamp onto her taut nipple.

She moaned into his mouth.

Brock growled into hers before he backed off.

“Ow.” Her remark came after she glanced down and saw his handiwork dangling so pretty from her pinched nipple.

She stared up at him and gasped. Her focus stayed on his hand as he twirled the second clamp. She bit her bottom lip as he clutched her other breast, repeating the process. She unsuccessfully tried to shy away from his touch, but he was too quick and adept at attaching the little torture devices.

“Breathe through the pain, Doc. You told me you have a high tolerance. You can do this. It only lasts a little while before giving way to a more manageable level.”

Karlie lifted her chin. The expression on her face was disbelief at what he said. He planned to fix her doubt and stepped back toward his bag. He found what he wanted and brought the duffel back to where she stood, placing it on the floor. He withdrew a few clothespins at a time.

Her eyes widened. “What are those for?”

“You’ll see.”

Although her breathing calmed, a quizzical look painted her face. The new devices obviously helped the distraction from the clamps. The first wooden clothespin he placed just to the side of her left nipple toward her side. She moaned as he clamped three more in a horizontal line. He repeated the process on the other breast.

By the time he finished, her even breathing had transitioned to panting. She was delightful. Much to his surprise, he was getting into the scene more than he expected. Pleasure from her pain snuck up behind him and grabbed him hard by the balls. He wanted to take her deeper into play.

She gasped and went to reach for her breasts. His reaction was quicker. “Naughty, naughty, Miss Larson. They stay where I put them.” He held her wrists in his strong grip.

“You’re an evil man,” she hissed the words out.

“Yes, I am.” He emphasized his statement with a wicked grin. “I can’t have you ruining my work, Miss Larson. If you wish to end our lesson, you can use your safeword.”

She bit her bottom lip for the umpteenth time, and he guessed was part of her thought process. Tears formed in her eyes, a clear indication the pain was getting to her. Could he push her to let go, let the pleasure wash over her, and let the pain fade.

He looked into her face, their gaze transfixed on each other. A realization hit him. He needed this in a way he’d suppressed for too long. The little spitfire was sparking something tangible inside him. A switch flipped inside making him want more. He was aroused, but in a more visceral way. He loved the power exchange with subs and the pleasure they gave him, but he rarely had sex with anyone the first time they played. An overwhelming desire to take Karlie right now was almost too much to control. His body heated in anticipation of sinking his cock deep inside her cunt, making her come so hard, she’d scream his name.

Exclusive Excerpt for Sexy Between the Covers:

From Remote Consequences (Book #1 Working Stiff Mystery Series) by Kerri Nelson

A knock on the door awoke me from a sound sleep. The digital clock confirmed that it was six thirty in the morning. I peered over the covers at Pickles, and he raised his head to peer back but made no effort to leave his comfy spot. I couldn't blame him.

Another knock on the door.

What was it about early-morning visitors around here? Did no one sleep past sunrise anymore?

I shuffled out of my warm cocoon and back into the now too-cold morning air of the house. I snagged Patty's rose-patterned housecoat from the back of the door and pulled it on as I headed to the kitchen.

I opened the door, and there stood my mystery man holding two to-go coffee cups and a bag that was emitting sensuous smells, like bacon and sausage.

"Oops."

I'd forgotten to set an alarm, and I'd left my cell phone in the bathroom. Obviously, I'd missed our early a.m. breakfast meeting, and obviously he'd tracked me down at home anyway.

He smiled. "Nice robe."

I returned the smile with some trepidation and motioned for him to enter. The idea did cross my mind that I was admitting a complete stranger into my home. As he entered, I stealthily made my way to the counter and removed a rolling pin from the ceramic utensil holder. I moved it behind my back as I turned around with a look of utter innocence and nonchalance.

It was an unsettling feeling, having him show up like this, but I kind of wanted to trust him. I wasn't sure why, but I did.

His compliment had made me aware of the old-lady-style floral housecoat I was wearing. It came complete with a zippered front. My hair was probably very interesting about right now, as I'd had fallen asleep with it semi-wet. Probably looked a bit like Einstein's hair on a good day.

I shrugged. "Thanks. Is that bacon I smell?"

Pickles let out a resounding bark at my question. I saw he'd made his way to the kitchen to inspect our visitor and offer me protection. Oh, who was I fooling? He had smelled the food and had come running. He was no dummy.

"Your dog?" the international man of mystery inquired.

"No, he belongs to my sister. His name is Pickles, or as I like to call him, Señor Drool. I would introduce you, but I'm not privy to your name."

He ignored my question and began to set the Styrofoam boxes of food out on the kitchen table in a precise manner, folding napkins and arranging the plastic utensils as if preparing for a formal dinner party. I watched and caught myself admiring his muscled arms, which bulged from the sleeves of a pressed white golf shirt. As he reached across the table to set down my coffee cup, I thought I caught a hint of a tattoo on his left bicep, but the sleeve covered it before I could make out the design.

My eyes moved down his back to note his crisp khaki trousers fit snugly in all the right places. He turned, and I redirected my eyes upward to a more appropriate vantage point. But he'd caught me checking him out. Thank goodness he had the manners not to point it out.

Nonetheless, I clenched the robe a little tighter as a blush crept up my cheeks. Dang Irish heritage—it was impossible to hide a blush on this fair skin. It wasn't like me to be embarrassed, but this whole scene playing out before me was beyond odd. Of course, what in my life wasn't odd these days?

"Shall we?"

He pulled out a chair for me, and I took a seat. Pickles moved to me and placed his heavy head on my thigh. His eyes twitched up at me with immense longing. I pushed the rolling pin between my legs. At least I had some sort of weapon handy in case he was bribing me with food just so that he could distract me before he murdered me. What if he was the murderer?

I swallowed back my nerves as I opened the box of food and gasped with surprise.

It was loaded with scrambled eggs, home fries covered with cheese, crisp bacon, long links of sausage, and a huge buttered biscuit. It was…perfect.

I hand-fed Pickles a piece of bacon and then sliced up a link of sausage and placed it on a napkin. I slid it to the floor, and he made quick work of it.

I looked up at my guest and found he was watching me under hooded eyes.

"Aren't you going to eat?" I asked as I scooped mounds of peppered eggs into my mouth. I'd never been one to act shy around guys when it came to eating. Hated it when girls acted all silly about not wanting to eat when they went on dates. I'd never ordered "just a salad"—ever. No one would ever call me a cheap date.

Keys to Her Heart
by Lacey Wolfe
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Love happens when you least expect it.

Officer Cody Duncan gave up on love years ago. Or so he thought.  He was content with his quiet solitary life, until a clumsy waitress spilled hot coffee on his pants and turned his world upside down. Suddenly, there’s a new heat in his life, filled with cravings for things he once pushed aside.

Lily Jenkins’ busy life as a single mom and primary caretaker for her elderly mother leaves little time for herself. Struggling to adjust to a new life in a small town, her focus is too easily derailed by the gorgeous man she accidentally spilled hot coffee on. Knowing she has too much already going on, Lily vows to keep Cody at a distance, even though she craves him in ways she never thought possible.

Their attempts at simple friendship continually fail as they soon discover an untamable fire between them whenever they are alone together.

Seeing a life he never imagined for himself, will Cody have the patience to wait for the woman of his dreams? Will Lily finally let go and give Cody the Keys to Her Heart?

Picture
As they walked back up the main road in town, Cody couldn’t shake the feeling Lily was holding back on him. From the outside, she seemed to have her life together. She was strong and confident, but something told him there was a story she wasn’t sharing. He wouldn’t push. If, and when, she was ready, he’d listen. He didn’t plan on going anywhere.

God, was he already thinking about the long haul with her? He was in trouble, and he hadn’t even kissed her yet. He’d definitely thought about it, though.

“You’ve been such a gentleman showing me around.” She tugged at the hem of her dress. Her hot, sexy, want-to-rip-it-off-her dress.

“Who better than me?” he flirted.

“I can’t think of anyone.” She stared at him. Her long red curls begged him to touch them. Were they as soft as they looked?

“We should do this again.” His heart raced as he waited for her response.

“Yes.” She stepped back a little, increasing the space between them. “My evening schedule is kind of hectic. So daytime is best for me.”

“I understand. You have your son to care for.”

Her gaze darted away and she sucked in her bottom lip. “Yeah. Speaking of which, he’ll be home before long, and I should be there to get him off the bus.”

He hated that their time together was ending. “Okay. Let me walk you to your car.”

“You don’t have to.”

“I want to.”

She gave him the cute little grin he found himself adoring already. Of course, she’d parked near Luigi’s, which had them to her car too quickly.

Lily leaned against the side and he could practically see the wheels turning in her head. Was she debating the kiss as much as he was? Oh yeah, he wanted to explore those sweet lips of hers, but not yet. Not until he could spend a good few minutes with her.

The Last Dig
By Constance Bretes
Genre: Romantic Suspense/Contemporary

Bones, bodies, and a love rekindled.

Paleontologist Caroline Priest is shocked when she finds a dead body at her dig site. When she calls it in to the sheriff's department, her former boyfriend, Rand Callahan, comes out to investigate. The evidence quickly starts to point to Caroline being the killer, and Rand has no choice but to arrest her.

It's clear to Caroline that she's been set up, but by who and for what reason? While Caroline is out on bail, Rand rekindles his relationship with her as they try to solve the mystery before it's too late.

Content Warning: contains some sexual content

Picture
Rand stared at Caroline, taking in what she had just told him. "You lied to me," he retorted sharply. "First you told me that you didn't have a conversation with him, now you're telling me that you did. Your story is starting to fall apart. You need to tell me the whole truth. Was this man stalking you? Did he bother you in any way? Why did you go to his apartment and threaten him and then kill him?" Rand asked, his voice rose in anger.

"You've got to believe me! I did not go to this man's apartment!" Caroline said, her voice getting louder.

"If the man stalked you, bothered you, or abused you in any way, we can help get your sentence reduced. It would go a long way in the courtroom if you confessed and came clean with this now," Rand said, his voice still raised.

"I have nothing to confess," Caroline replied forcefully.

"How the hell did his cellphone end up in your SUV?" Rand's anger burst at her.

Caroline recoiled at his temper. Then she snapped at him, her voice equally angry, "I don't know how it got there!"

"Well, you apparently had it in your SUV all along."

"I don't know how that cellphone got in my vehicle," Caroline stated emphatically, slamming both hands on the table.

"It would be in your best interest if you confess or fill in the gaps of your story. You will be going down for murder one and a very long prison sentence." Rand jerked forward in his chair and looked into her eyes. His eyes were dark and angry.

I have Imogene here to share her thoughts on what she loves about Science Fiction. Don't forget to share some love and enter her giveaway!  Take it away Imogene!

Science Fiction – I love it!

In times past, the woman’s place in SciFi was the fainting virgin, but SciFi has evolved! If you haven’t been reading this series, you should check out the first book. It features a strong-minded woman. In the 80’s we were fed a steady dose of bodice rippers… (Don’t get me wrong, they could be quite hot to read, but times have moved on!)

For me, Science Fiction allows an opportunity to explore universes that aren’t discovered and to play with the strengths I love to give my heroines. In fact, the worse the situation they find themselves in, the more I love it. Under fire? Yes, grab that laser pistol and save the hero! What’s that a wormhole? Darn, heroine it’s time to try out the evasive maneuvers you’ve been practicing for years.
Met a sexy alien and not sure you’re compatible? Go for it!!

I can actually attribute my love of strong heroines to a particular title. Some years ago I came across a book called Angel And The Bad Man. Great title, huh? The heroine was a reasonably mild mannered woman who’d lived a difficult life. She’s seen her parents murdered as a young girl and as the only known survivor she’d been placed into witness protection. Years later and she’s faced with a similar situation, seeing a murder and an ex-criminal is the only one who can save her. Nothing quite goes to plan and she’s shot…

But I also like softness in the heroines. They can be the toughest of the tough but have a hidden softness that they only reveal to the heroine, and there’s the gooey centre. Sigh…

So take a moment to check out my SciFi titles – I can guarantee you a strong heroine and her perfect mate!

Genre: Science Fiction/Futuristic Romance

The Reunion Trilogy, Book 3

The end game is looming, but whether the last of the Ito family will find his happily ever after is in the balance.

Tomi Ito must deal with the knowledge that the woman he's loved forever, Gillian Edgemont, thinks he's abandoned her in her time of need. But when he's abducted, she's there to help save him.

Gillian is running from the wreck of her life and the unrequited passion she holds for her former boss, Senator Tomi Ito. When he follows her to Vega II so does the danger that's been dogging the Ito family.

As the finale looms, does it include a future for Tomi and Gillian? Or will it all turn to ashes?

Picture
Even as Gillian scanned the view, she noted that the pilot slipped a headpiece over his ear so he could communicate with the rescue worker. She wished she knew who was in the water, but his words were too low to overhear.

In the main cabin, she could hear bangs and groaning equipment. The scene on the view screen changed to the belly of their craft. She could see a man dangling in the air, and in the water, someone clutching another person. She said a silent prayer that one of them was Tomi.

Tension rose in the cabin, thick and heady. The rescuer plunged into the cold waters. A harness was handed over and gripped while the officer dealt with the other. From the movements, Gillian could tell that the person was panicked. Slowly, the first harness rose and she could tell it wasn't Tomi, as the person had long hair and bare legs. She sucked in a breath as the second person in the water was assisted into another harness, then he or she rose with the rescuer. Even though she craned, the outline of the officer obscured her view. She sucked in an unsteady breath, clenched her hands together, and waited.

When Gillian was sure she could last no longer, the door opened with a bang. She quickly looked up, anticipation sizzling along every nerve ending.

There in the doorway was Tomi, wet and shivering, but very much alive. In his arms was a woman, bedraggled and dirty, but he held her so tenderly that any hopes or dreams Gillian harbored melted away. There was never any hope for her and the feelings that burned in her chest.

Without a word, Gillian turned away and fought the sting of tears in her eyes. She noted the sounds of joyous reunion between brother and sister, but she kept her gaze averted, to give them privacy, she piously told herself. When the pilot ordered them strapped in, she breathed a silent sigh of relief. She knew that this torture, him being so close but now forever so far away, would come to an end sooner rather than later.

Just as she was sure she'd be spared, Tomi spoke. "Gillian, thank you for coming to find me."

The clog of tears filled her throat, but she managed to croak, "It was nothing."

"It means a lot to me." He reached out and touched her hand, and she bit back the gasp that rose.

Nerves in her hand jumped and thrummed, but she ignored them. "Honestly, I'm just pleased I could help." She glanced in his direction, taken aback by the directness in his gaze before the woman beside him shuddered. He scooped her closer and Gillian turned away.

Her failing business is beginning to take a toll on her, both mentally and financially. To her surprise, the sexy professor is nothing like she had pictured him.

Wanting to escape the demons of his recent past, he moved to Steeple, taking a sabbatical from his teaching job to write a book. He wasn't prepared for the spunky, persistent bar owner to invade his life. But the more she pushes, the more intrigued he becomes.

Neither one of them expected to find any common ground, much less fall in love. What happens when an OCD professor collides with a risk-taking woman who won't take 'no' for an answer?

Content Warning: contains graphic sex and mature content

After lunch, another hour of conversation, and a long swim, Cali lounged on the chair by the pool. Her shoulder-length blonde hair dried naturally and curled at the ends. Carter watched as she closed her eyes and enjoyed the afternoon sun. Her tanned skin glistened with sunscreen and her tiny bikini was almost dry. He wondered how many hours of intense workouts created a body like hers.

"Are you admiring me again?" she asked with her eyes still closed.

"How many tattoos do you have?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?" She giggled.

"I would."

As improper as it was, he couldn't take his gaze away from her right nipple. The evidence straining against her damp bikini indicated a piercing of some sort. He'd never been more fascinated by anyone before. Throughout the years he'd seen quite a few attractive young women on campus, but he never acted on impulse when it came to students, no matter how tempting. Cali wasn't a student. She was a quirky, attractive woman who was very much in touch with her sexuality. She turned him on. He wanted to explore with her.

"Four."

He sat on the edge of the lounge chair, taking her right ankle into his hand. "Here." He outlined the small butterfly that permanently marked her skin.

"That's one." She opened her eyes when he trailed his hand up her leg and to her hip.

It had been years since he had pursued a woman. He'd gotten married when he was twenty-four and stayed faithful through the whole fourteen years of that turbulent relationship.

"Two." He swept his fingers over the pink-and-purple-colored rose petals sprinkled along her hip.

"Keep going."

He took her hand in his and examined more rose petals on the inside of her wrist. "Do they hold significance?" He traced his fingertips over the tattoo, indulging in her smooth skin beneath his touch. The way her flesh prickled in response instigated his actions.

"I like roses." She sat up, placed her legs across his lap, and leaned closer to his face. "My mother had the most beautiful rose bushes in our backyard." She pushed her hair to the side and tilted her neck. "Four."

"It's exquisite," he mumbled as he took in the ivy that started at her collarbone and flowed down the back of her shoulder blade.

"I wouldn't have pegged you for a man who likes ink on his woman."

"I'm not usually." He ran his thumb from the start of the tattoo to where it ended on her back. He wanted to feel every inch of her forbidden flesh. She shivered when he stopped. "It goes back to those boundaries you don't have."

Reaching out, she placed her palm on his cheek, directing him closer to her lips. "The question is…" She brushed her mouth against his chin. "Do you have enough for both of us?"
