Strong Women and the Men who Love them! #newrelease

10/24/2022

Picture
Are you a strong woman? Women are notoriously strong. We deal with birth and are the caretakers of our families. Trust me if you have ever seen a man sick, you will know just how strong women are! (haha).

The women in the Ngata family are strong. They have faced war and destruction and found a way to not just survive but thrive. In DIA'S LURE, Dia has always run away, rather than fight. Escape and hide were her best skills but when she is unable to do either... she finds out how strong she really is.

DIA'S LURE is the third book in the Solstice Quartet series about the Ngata family, a group of swan shifters and sisters. Their lives were upturned when their tribe was attacked, killing their mother. Ember and Amy have found their happily ever afters, but Dia remained in hiding until this book.

Now available in ebook and print, DIA'S LURE is an action packed shifter romance. Dia not only falls for her former boyfriend but she meets an amazing new heartthrob! And they will need both of them to escape!

Blurb:
When Dia finally gets caught, she has to decide: flee or fight? Or…fall in love?

After years on the run, Dia Ngata’s luck has run out. Not by hunters, though, but by a reclusive bat shifter colony and the witches bound to them. The worst part? Her fellow captive happens to be Carver Kano, the ex-lover who betrayed her all those years ago.

Carver Kano admits his mistakes, and his biggest was being too late to stop the slaughter of Dia’s tribe. Ever since, the investigative journalist has focused on putting the biggest and baddest behind bars; however, he can’t escape the prison of his guilt.

When he gets captured by the bat colony, he doesn’t expect to form a friendship with the handsome bat shifter Milos or to have a chance to earn Dia’s forgiveness. Dia plans to escape as soon as possible. And Milos? He simply wants to survive.

Dia is Kano’s mate, but Milos ignites something in them both. When someone from Kano’s past threatens the colony, can the trio put their fears and mistrust aside? Or will history repeat itself once more?

Love shifters? Catherine Peace’s Solstice Quartet series blends magic and love as three daughters of a swan tribe find love where they least expect it. Peace’s stories bring to mind books by Patricia Briggs and Carrie Ann Ryan.

EXCERPT
She’d learned sacrifice from her mother. Trina Ngata gave up so much—her culture, her family, her life—to come to the Whakamanu. But she wouldn’t have traded it for anything, and no matter the cost and the strain and the enduring loneliness Dia endured, she wouldn’t either. May my sacrifices honor yours, Mama.

But that damned trembling anxiety continued through her arms, trickling like rain down her spine and into her legs; it only grew stronger as their bus trudged through the city. Tension filled the air, a string about to snap. The same tension that had preceded the slaughter. Not again. Her heart raced and her throat closed up; she couldn’t swallow, couldn’t talk, couldn’t scream. She wrapped her arms around her waist in a poor attempt to keep herself together, but it wouldn’t be enough. The attack had to pass on its own.

“Dane?”

Dia glanced up. Hannah, one of the newbies, slid into the seat next to her. “You doing okay?”

Forcing a nod, she tried to speak but the words refused to push through her tight throat. The plucky American, a girl from Ohio who wanted to make a difference in the world, didn’t speak again, but her presence was comfort enough. Slowly, between Hannah’s calm and the consistent vibration of the tires, Dia’s chest began to loosen and her muscles unclenched.

And then the world went bright. A deafening BOOM tossed the bus onto its side, flinging some of the passengers and luggage with it. Screams filled the air, and when the flash subsided, the forest of her birth surrounded her, a nightmare come to life. The hunters had come.

And since she couldn’t fly, she ran.

Dances- Do You Remember Your High School Moves?

10/13/2022

Picture
High School... it was probably a few or more years ago for many of us. But do you remember the high school dances? Ours were in the lunchroom. We had only one big one (the prom) offsite but the rest were in the same place we ate lunch. The music was mostly piped in and the decorations were paper. Dances were the highlights of those years. We loved the chance to show off our moves and maybe steal a kiss from our dates.

WALTZIN' BLIND is the latest release by Connie L. Smith and brings me right back to those glory days. WALTZIN' BLIND is the sequel to Jivin' Tango where we are introduced to the new couple- Lila and Austin. You don't have to have read Jivin' Tango to love WALTZIN' BLIND.  This story is a classic high school tale of opposites attract and the many things/people who get in the way of their happy ending. When High School ends, will Lila and Austin still be the cute couple or will they have found new dance partners?

Coming in paperback and print on November 15th, WALTZIN' BLIND will draw you back to your golden years.

Blurb:
Dancing in the storm is one thing. Waltzing in a secret one? Way harder.
Five months have passed since Lila and her dancer partner, Trent, placed third in the annual dance competition. That’s also when she fell, hard and fast, for her childhood friend, Austin. The dance competition was a dream come true. Austin was the surprise of a lifetime and proof that unknown things can be good—blissful, even, like a perfectly choreographed waltz under a moonlit sky.

But lately, the unknown things are piling up. Her friend, Jacey, is keeping secrets, her parents are acting odd, and Austin is most definitely hiding something from her—something big. And is she losing her mind, or is she suddenly being watched?

Her world no long feels like a graceful waltz, but a mosh pit of dancing elephants she has to ignore if she wants to keep her sanity, even if it means closing her eyes to everything around her. After all, it’s her tried-and-true method of coping, and she’ll cling to it for dear life.

Lila’s waltzing blind through an obstacle course of secrets. One misstep, and she’ll break under the weight of all the lies and deceit, and the carnage won’t be pretty.

The thing about a waltz? One misstep is easy to spot and hard to ignore, let alone two, three, four…

Don’t Miss the Exciting Sequel to Jivin’ Tango, the beginning of Trent and Lila’s love story. Praise for Jivin’ Tango- “This book involves several lessons many women need to learn. It's also a well written love story. The characters are relate-able and fun. Ms. Smith gives us a front row seat to events pretty common in the high school world.” -Book Reviewer

Can Men and Women be Friends? #newrelease

10/10/2022

Picture
Can men and women be only friends? Or does a romance always happen? This question has been debated for decades and in a million homes. I can only speak to my own experience. I struggled with this. I had a lot of male friends growing up but once I reached puberty, I noticed them in a different way. I'll admit it... I couldn't be only a friend during my teen years. Now as an adult, I do have male friends that are strictly friends. But I'm married. Does that make a difference?? What about your own experience? Friends or not?

I love that Elsa Winckler explores it in her new release- LOVING BROOKE. This is the third book in the Unexpected Love series which features romance in a small town and a matchmaking mother. LOVING BROOKE is a wonderful read filled with steam and humorous moments. If you haven't read the other books in the Unexpected Love series, you will still find LOVING BROOKE a compelling read. Now available in ebook and print--get a copy for yourself!

Blurb:
Can two friends fake love or will their fake relationship end their real friendship?

Irritated by their families continued efforts to get them together, good friends widow Brooke Johnson and Gavin Wilson decide to fake a relationship for the next two weeks. But then Gavin kisses her, making her aware of the desires she’d suppressed for so long.

Suddenly, Brooke struggles to focus on finishing paintings for an upcoming exhibition and her simple life becomes way more complicated than before.

When a creepy gallery manager makes her life unpleasant, Gavin wants to take control of the situation and red lights flicker. Brooke had made a vow to handle her own problems rather than relying on someone. Her husband’s death had left her in the dark about finances. She couldn’t let Gavin take over but will their new romance stand up to her hands off attitude? Or will Brooke learn that it’s okay to lean on the ones you love sometimes?

But in the small town of Alisson, Montana, love will find a way.

This classic friends to lovers and fake relationship story will be sure to delight fans of Nora Roberts and Susan Mallery. Come be swept away, today, by this amazing story!

EXCERPT
She blinked, but she wasn’t hallucinating. On her porch, with Connor next to him, was Gavin Wilson holding two bags of what looked like groceries in his hands, if she wasn’t mistaken.

Speechless, she could only stare. Fortunately, Connor started babbling the minute she opened the door. “I told him we can just open the door, but he wanted to knock.” Connor hugged her legs. “Hi, Mom, I’m hungry. I’ve fetched Uncle Gavin to cook for us. Where is Grandma? I saw her car. Grandma!” he yelled and rushed inside.

Stunned, Brooke stared after Connor.

Gavin cleared his throat. “I found him at my front door.”

“What do you mean?”

“Connor. He came to the house.”

“I don’t believe it. But…why?”

Gavin grinned. “He’s told you.” He lifted the two bags of groceries he was carrying. “I’m happy to oblige.”
Brooke frowned. Had she heard correctly? Her son had gone to Gavin’s house to ask him to come and cook for them?

“But…it’s totally ridiculous; you can’t come and cook for us. Gavin, really…”

“It’s no secret in town you and your mother…how shall I put it? You don’t like cooking?”

“I cook,” Brooke began heatedly, but before she could finish her sentence, her mother appeared, all smiles.

“Yes, my dear girl, we cook, but nobody wants to eat what we cook! Come on in, Gavin, I’m on my way. I’m so glad you’re here.”

Gavin smiled. “Hi, Eleanor, lovely to see you.”

Beaming, her mom gave Brooke a quick hug. “I still have some things to do before I drive back to the ranch. Enjoy your dinner!” She stopped halfway down the stairs to look back at them. “Gavin, ask Brooke to show you her new painting.”

Brooke gnashed her teeth. “Goodbye, Mother.” She quickly closed the door before her mom could utter something even more embarrassing.

“I’m so sorry Connor bothered you. I’ll talk to him. You really don’t have to cook for us.”

“What about bourbon-grilled pork chops?”

Her tummy growled.

Gavin grinned. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

About the Author:
Elsa has been reading love stories for as long as she can remember and when she ‘met’ the classic authors like Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Henry James The Brontë sisters, etc. during her Honours studies, she was hooked for life.

She married her college boyfriend and and they are fortunate to live in the picturesque little seaside village of Betty's Bay, South Africa.

She adores writing kissing books with strong, beautiful, feisty, independent and headstrong heroines and dashing Alpha heroes who loves fiercely and protects the ones they love. Her stories typically incorporate the family background of the characters to better understand where they come from and who they are when we meet them in the story.
