Her love of art was instilled by her mother who always inspired her to be creative either with a paintbrush or with a pen and paper. As far back as she can remember her life was always centered around introspection, storytelling, and imagination. Because she is so artistic, she took to the idea of creative writing very passionately. Her ability to describe a scene, person, or place, she compares to painting a picture, where she can describe every detail vividly in order to make the reader feel like they’re truly living in the story. Her works of writing usually center around a powerhouse female protagonist (which reflect her own personality), who progresses through many wild and extreme obstacles. Ashley loves to write stories that end with a cliffhanger, that leave the reader begging for more and questioning what happens next. Her most recent novel sets the stage for the paranormal romance of the century and includes ghosts, poltergeists, and demons who just love to get in the way of true love. Ashley has won awards for her design, art, and writing. Ashley doesn’t believe in down time whatsoever and actually loves having a full “To-Do”list. Ashley is a wife to her wonderful husband, Eric and a mother to a beautiful little baby girl named Dakota. She is also a Graphic Designer and a health and fitness coach. Her husband and daughter inspire her to be the best person she can be and encourage her to pursue any of her dreams (no matter how extravagant they may be). www.authorashleypagano.com Danger has arrived and we've not been prepared. However, a group of teenagers have some special abilities and can save our world. These teens are shifters and special creatures who will take on evil to keep us safe. The second book in The Division series continues the tale of these unique teenagers as they finally face a battle tougher than they ever thought to face. But what I love is that underneath it all, they are still kids, driven by love and friendships. Connie L. Smith does a wonderful job weaving in so many different characters who are strong, determined and still flawed. The war has begun. The battle’s unfolding. And victory feels so distant… The Essenced had prepared and trained, but never imagined the true horror of watching demons tearing through the Division to invade the realm. Every claw is horrific—every snarl disgusting—and the responsibility of keeping that vile terror from expanding beyond the battlefield’s borders rests in the teenagers’ hands. They thought they were ready for that challenge… But then their confidence is shaken when a deadly new weapon emerges from the enemy’s arsenal, and well-kept secrets from the Essenced’s angelic superiors begin to surface. In the midst of the carnage, can the teens find the strength within themselves, and among themselves, to grasp victory in blood-tainted hands? Excerpt “I hear, at the facility, you were barely capable of communicating.” “That’s because I was,” Shane admitted. “Even when I was there for Nicholai’s debriefing after the battle, I was unfocused. Not as much as I’d been in the past, but more than I am here because this,” he tipped his chin toward the Division, “was nowhere near me. You said yourself that my protective instincts have a place now to channel themselves, so I don’t have to be so spacey all the time.” “Yes, I did, and I meant it.” After a quiet moment where the angel watched the alpha pensively, he shrugged and looked away. “I suppose I didn’t fully appreciate the difference in mindsets. Complete preoccupation to boredom is quite a transition.” “Not a hard one to make when we’re stuck in Catoosa for days without even a 3DS or a book.” Stephan absorbed Shane’s comments, and a feeling of unease rose within him when he pondered the implications lying somewhere beneath the actual words. Bored? A Syragh-Essenced in these circumstances? Granted, he hadn’t seen an actual Syragh in millennia, but as memory served, they never tired of their purpose. In fact, on occasion, the creatures’ impulses made them some of the most annoying beings in the universe. One could only be forced to pause walking so a helpful entity could remove a banana peel from his path so many times before the consideration became taxing. And they’d always done those kinds of things with giant smiles. But then again, these soldiers had been human a great while longer than they’d been Essenced. Perhaps the boredom and monotonous outlook could be explained as lingering human characteristics within the pack. Stephan sincerely hoped the reasoning could be so logically addressed. Otherwise… I’ll not even think it, the angel silently decided. Grab Your copy today! And be sure to read the book which started it all!As the demons near, the Essences rise… AJ had never been particularly athletic or coordinated, so waking up to realize she suddenly has super-human strength is a massive, mind-shaking shock. Finding that she’s gained a stalker overnight is another mark in the unusual category, and when she discovers she’s always had the essence of a werewolf in her blood, her world all but shifts beneath her. Demons, she’s told, are looming in the world’s future, and the only hope humanity has of surviving their arrival is if she and teenagers like her surrender their humanity to dive into their mythical essences. Fairies, dragons, dwarves, mermaids… The remnants of seventeen different fantasy species must come to life to save the lives of everyone. Someway, an army of supernatural teenagers must prepare to meet the demons escaping from their dimensional banishment, or everything ends. Can these teens succeed and save the world? EXCERPT: “Their essences. Their beings. When mingled with magic, they’re what make werewolves, dragons, and all other mythical creatures. The individuals from the war wouldn't last, but some of those essences had to, or the world wouldn't stand a chance.” “Oh, this keeps getting weirder.” “And it’ll get stranger still,” he added without missing a beat. “You asked if they retired. This is what happened to them. They gave up their essences and their magic—since magic was draining from the world—to preserve them for future use. It killed them, but they did it.” “Well, where did the essences and magic go?” “Exactly!” He smiled, seeming proud of her for asking that question. “The magic was bottled up and given to a collection of angels for safekeeping. Its release was dependent on one particular angel's judgment as to when the Division was too big to ignore.” She could sense something very bad about to be revealed, but she'd come this far. There was no point in turning back now. “‘Was’ dependent?” He looked right into her eyes as he confirmed her suspicion. “The magic was released, sweetheart.” Her terror multiplied with that admission, both for what it meant for the world in total and for what it implied for her specifically. “The Division was too big? Demons will be here soon?” “Afraid so.” “But what about the essences? Don't they have to mingle with the magic and save the world?” “The essences were hidden in bloodlines,” he said. “Humans were the newest beings during the war, ones who required no magic to live. They would survive. They had to carry on the essences. Each potential essence was hidden in a different bloodline with the humans never knowing what was in their genes. About the Author: Connie L. Smith spends a decent amount of time with her mind wandering in fictional places. She reads too much, likes to bake, and might forever be sad that she doesn’t have fairy wings. And that she can’t swing dance. Much of her preferred music is severely outdated, and as an adult she’s kind of obsessed with Power Rangers. She has her BA from Northern Kentucky University in Speech Communication and History (she doesn’t totally get the connection either), and her MA in English and Creative Writing. Not every book has what it takes to become a novel. Some lack polish (although in those cases, we can shine them), while others lack a spark (this is harder to fix). But when I read Beyond Fate, I couldn't put it down. This story hit me in a few places... first of all, the prologue. I could see the Frat House in my mind. I've been in a few. Growing up on Ohio University's campus, I worked a lot with a specific fraternity. The rooms, the camaraderie and of course the parties... they were a part of my past and when I read about Julia and Russ... I was back there. The second piece was a school. As a teacher for over twenty years, I understood the ins and outs of a school. The teaching, the parents, the lessons... All the things which made the setting so much more real for me. But even if you haven't had those experiences, you are going to fall in love with Russ and Julia's story. A first love is one which is never forgotten. Come join in the fun! Years of separation mean nothing when love is in the air… Julia Diaz never wanted to fall for her friend's older brother, especially at a college frat party. But, for some reason, her heart was stolen by Russell that night. Eight years after, she never forgot him. Now destiny has brought them together. Only this time Russell is no longer a boy. He’s a man who knows what he wants and will not be denied. Russell Webb used to be optimistic, and fun loving until a family tragedy turned his world on its side. Putting all his focus on work, he picked himself back up, and managed to turn his grief into something resembling a life. When a woman from his past reappears, and gives him a glimpse of true happiness, he’ll do anything to secure her heart. Even face the darkness he has avoided for so long. Excerpts: “You’re not going anywhere.” He tightened his arms. The thought of her leaving made him feel desperate. Her smile broadened. “I have to.” “Nope.” “Yes, Russ.” “Sorry, Julia.” He leaned in, inhaling her sweet, jasmine scent. “You are going to have to live here now.” She laughed loudly at his suggestion. The sound was deep, sexy, and marvelous. “What? You don’t want to live with twenty smelly, grown men?” She wiped her eyes, shaking her head no. “Well, maybe I should take you back to the library bathroom, until you change your mind.” She broke out of his arms. “Do it and die.” He grabbed her back to him in a hurry, not ready to throw in the towel. “Stop distracting me.” She cupped his face in her hands, and moved closer to him. “I’m here to offer you a reward.” “What’s my reward?” He felt his body tighten with need as the curves of her full chest pushed against his shirt. She looked up at him, her eyes dancing hazel, this time, with desire. “This.” She pressed her answer against his lips, and then he could no longer feel his toes. The kiss was slow, murderously slow. Her lips were soft, silky, and warm. She tasted tantalizing and delicious. He groaned, pulling her closer, sinking into her. She met him, opening her mouth for his tongue, pressing their bodies together. The moment of sweet was over, and suddenly the kiss became desperate, hot, and sensual. He ran his hands down her waist, and she licked his lower lip, before sucking it in. He pulled his lips away, to drag them down her neck. “I want you.” “I know.” She sighed, pushing out of his arms. “But not here.” PUrchase your Copy Today! |
