Vampires are Here! #Deepest_Midnight #New_release

6/24/2018

Picture
Vampires have been the thing of nightmares but in recent years, they are the new paranormal hotties. With authors such as Katie MacAlister and Jeannie Frost, readers are falling for sexy and dominating vampires who secretly protect the world and fall in love for longer than a life time. Clara Winter's new release is along the same lines. A sexy female vampire who believes in true love.

Explore the past as she shares her trials in France as she became a vampire and set out to create a new life for herself.

BLURB:
True love never dies.

At least, it doesn’t for Millicent, a once French noblewoman turned immortal vampire. The love of her life is murdered before she became immortal. Forever is a long time to live in despair. Two hundred forty years later, she locks eyes with an English actor, who happens to look exactly like her dead lover.

Sadness turns to happiness as Millicent and Jack find passion in each other’s arms. Their fling quickly turns serious as Millicent finds happiness once again—and possibly her one true love.

However, their relationship becomes complicated by her own uncertainty, Jack’s mortality, and the other man in Millicent’s life, Alexandre, her maker and companion. When Alexandre puts his foot down, Millicent must decide if she’s going to continue to be led by others or take the reins and drive the outcome of her life.

Deepest Midnight is set in modern day Savannah, Ga with occasional glimpses back to 18th century France. This is the first book in The Immortal Kindred Series.

EXCERPT:
The sun has yet to set. There is a steady pounding on the front door, followed by the piercingly loud ring of the doorbell. I know it isn’t night, because I’m having a hard time opening my eyes, even a crack.

“Police, open up!” This is not good. Wake up, Millicent, and think for God’s sake.

If I open the door, the sunlight will sear my skin, like chicken on a barbeque. Not something these people have ever seen before, I’m sure. Only one thing comes to mind, and I’m not positive it will work. I’ll just have to cross that bridge when I come to it.

Dragging ass out of bed, I dig out a very unsexy, white fleece robe. My limbs feel like lead weights, as I do my level best to push my arms through the sleeves. My body is not cooperating. Every cell inside me screams to get back into the safety of my bed. More pounding.

I reach my bedroom door. “I’m coming!”

Not very demure, but it’s better than having the door broken in. Since my legs aren’t working too well, I slide with locked knees down several steps, almost toppling over in the process.

At the bottom, I robot-walk across the front hall. I stop just long enough to take a deep breath. Gripping the door handle with my left hand, I soundlessly slide back the dead bolt, praying the people outside won’t take it upon themselves to try the door, until I am safely removed. I run, awkwardly, into the living room, launching myself onto the sofa, pulling the robe around me.

“Come in!” I yell, hoping they can hear me from outside.

Beating My Head Against a Wall

6/21/2018

Picture
My divorce was my choice. My fault.

After being married for twenty years, I made the decision to leave. I wasn’t happy. I tried…talking, counseling, begging, changing, bartering, giving up, medication, education, and so many other things. Maybe I finally saw I wasn’t going to have that “dream” marriage.

It was good. There were times it was excellent but too often, I was miserable. Dr. William Glasser states that you should marry someone who you can be friends with, even if sex isn’t in the picture. And at the time of my divorce, we couldn’t even call ourselves friends.

I suppose my ex would have continued to be married and live his life as it was. But he wasn’t really happy either. We worked at it for many years but at some point, one person has to say enough. It’s like a game of tug of war. The rope keeps moving back and forth. But nothing is gained.

Picture
Neither of us deserved to be unhappy. Walking away gave each of us a chance to be happy. However, my biggest regret was my children. They suffered in ways I hadn’t imagined. They lost financially with now two households with less income. Their own image of their life had to change, as they went back and forth between houses. No matter how much two parents put aside differences and remain focused on the children’s best interests, the children suffer. Gone are the family vacations. Gone are the extra funds for wants and needs, and sometimes, it’s as simple as you need to talk to mom when you are at dad’s house.

The unknown answer is how much staying together would have harmed the kids. In my case, I’ll never know. I took the plunge and walked away. I took much less than I could have. I shortchanged my own needs to make things better for my children, at least economically, although there were still times they were shortchanged. I suppose that’s the most difficult part of parenting, those times when you know you have let your child down. Now the time you didn’t buy them the new toy they wanted but the time you couldn’t leave work to pick them up when they were sick.

Picture
For years I beat my head against the wall, hoping for a different outcome. Until the day I stopped and turned in a different direction.

Was I braver? No. I was still scared to death. But I decided to put the energy I’d spent fighting into a different action.

Was I smarter? No. I still had times where I stumbled. But I didn’t let those bloody knees keep me down.

Was I happier? Yes. And in turn, I hoped my children were as well… I know I became a different person, one with more patience and more compassion. More generous with my time and my gifts.

Truly each day is a gift. No one day is promised. Don’t keep beating your head against a wall, and regret the time you could have been climbing that mountain.

Excerpt:

He had an artist’s hands, his touch precise, firm, assured, miraculous. With more skill than she’d ever owned, he teased her nub, alternating between feathery whisks and unyielding strokes.

Her poor pussy didn’t know what to make of it, her climax rushing close then scurrying away.

She twisted the bedspread. It was either that or bitch at him for not delivering immediate relief, playing with her when she wanted to come. Except she didn’t. She enjoyed how he revved her like an engine then let her idle, encouraging her mounting passion. Already he knew her better than she did herself. She braced for the ride.

He brushed her clit and traced her puffy folds.

Perspiration ran down her throat. Her fists and jaw ached from clenching them so tightly. She hauled in a much-needed breath.

A car horn blared.

She flinched, taut with expectation.

“Still okay?”

“Yeah, don’t stop.” She would have added “ever” but didn’t want to spook him with her overwhelming desire for them to be together. A couple everyone would envy and no one could come between.

He rubbed her where it mattered most, quick, hard, tirelessly.

Her orgasm steamrolled over Clover and hit with hurricane force. She trembled and thrashed, her clit too sensitive to endure his relentless stimulation.

He doubled down, going at her like tomorrow might not come.

She gasped but pressed into him, wanting more even when she didn’t, totally messed up.

The room spun faster than a carnival ride. Giddy, she yielded to his intimate strokes, her legs bowed outward, defenseless against him.

Almost. It had almost been perfect. Like heaven on earth.

Until it wasn’t. Until it was all taken away. Just…like…that.

A bumpy life path had finally led Lara Faulkner to happiness. And Finn Murphy, one of country music’s rising stars, was a big part of that. But his secret and a devastating loss had put up a sudden detour sign.

Lara and Finn now struggle with trying to reconnect back to the way they used to be. With his career threatening to create a bigger distance between them, they must find the strength to tear down the emotional restraints before it’s too late.

Fall in love with Book Two of the Country Roads series – ALMOST HEAVEN.

EXCERPT:
“I know you work hard to make all of this happen—your career and being here. I know you have made a lot of sacrifices. I do. I get it. And last night, it shouldn’t have been a big deal, but, I…you know—”

He had started getting off the bed mid-way through my dialogue and was now in front of me. “You know what I’m dealing with right now. The media surrounding the Entertainer of the Year nominees is insane, even if it is a long shot. An engagement party? It’s not a priority.”

“I guess I’m not either.” Maybe I shouldn’t have said it, but I, unfortunately, meant it.

“Don’t.” His eyes pierced mine momentarily letting me know I had crossed the line. “You know that’s not true. And you told me you were fine last night. You said—”

“Well, I guess I wasn’t.” Damn it! I was near tears, and I didn’t want to be. “I’ve gotta go.”

“What? Where?” The man who had hundreds of lyrics memorized in his head and never forgot an important moment in our lives was truly perplexed.

And it pissed me off.

Davy’s Saga, Book 2

Contemporary Suspense
Country Western/ Bull Riding
Blurb
Davy Hill is now married to his beloved, Laurel, and they have a baby on the way. He should be the happiest man on earth, only the slams keep coming. Despite riding like a seasoned pro, once he pays the WBR their share, pays his taxes, his health insurance, and his traveling costs, there’s little left to pay his mortgage on the farm and have food to eat.
When he hurts his hand while shingling the roof of his barn, he and Laurel both are frightened by how close to the edge they are, despite their largess from earlier. Being a bull-rider is a risky career, but it’s all he ever wanted to do. So, despite all the problems, and all the times he gets knocked down, Davy always gets back up, because that’s what a cowboy does!
Never has there been a bull-rider who has more bad and good luck than Davy Hill.

EXCERPT
Protecting his family from the dangers of money, Laurel’s words haunted him over the next few days. He was still thinking about them while he repaired the old barn roof. Was it selfish of him to make Laurel worry about money when he could so easily remove that concern forever?
He wished his ma would come to him in a dream and tell him what to do. She’d understand his fear that so much money would change them, that Laurel would turn into Aunt Madeline.
“We have plenty,” he spoke aloud as he stared at his farmland from the barn roof. This high up, he could see Leroy’s bull, Stubborn, out in the cow pasture. He loved to ride that ornery bull, but he’d like the bull a lot more if he wasn’t so hard to get into the chute.
Davy set down his hammer and rubbed his neck. Was he being stubborn like that bull? Or was he smart for trying to protect his family from the dangers of money?
His cell phone rang and startled him. He jumped high enough to lose his seat and slid down the side of the steep roof. As he fell off, his fingers locked onto the roof edge. He held on for dear life. Glancing down, he realized the fall of twenty feet was the least of his problems. The tractor mower parked beneath him, with its spiral row of blades, looked downright deadly.
Determined not to fall, he inched towards the ladder resting against the roof, six feet to the left. He focused on moving one hand and then the other closer to the ladder. Halfway there, his arms were shaking, and his fingers were numb. Sheer will-power and stubbornness got him the last three feet to the ladder.
He remained on the ladder for almost a half hour before he had sufficient arm strength to climb down.
When he reached the house, his hand wouldn’t function to open the door, so he sat down on the porch swing and let his worst nightmares take root.
What if he had fallen off that roof into the mower blades? Chances are he’d have died, but if he survived, with all those blades, some limb would have gone missing…and then he would have bled out before Laurel found him. He closed his eyes. God. She might have had a miscarriage seeing such a gruesome sight.
He shook off the thought. That didn’t happen. He stared at his hand and tried to close it, but nothing happened. He focused harder, but only one finger moved.
“Davy, why are you sitting out here? I’ve been holding dinner for a half hour now.” She then came to him and knelt beside him. “What’s wrong?”
Davy was glad he didn’t have to be brave for Laurel, because all his bravery had left him. “I can’t move my fingers.”
Nurse Laurel took over and interrogated him until she had the full story. Or almost the full story. He didn’t tell her about the mower blades waiting for him if he let go of the barn roof.

Davy had overcome a lot of challenges to find his happily ever after in Slammed. Sadly, some of those challenges didn't go away. They simply hid their mean nature.

In an effort to make sure his wife and growing family are safe, Davy makes choices out of fear leading to dangerous situations. Only through the love of a good woman and the support of friends is he able to overcome the challenges.

I love reading a Liza O'Connor story. Her characters struggle but come out better. They provide readers with an uplifting tale of perseverance and love. And they often make me try to be a better person myself.

You don't have to be a rodeo fan to love Slammed Again, you just have to love great stories.

Series Blurb:

Magic has never been as sexy or as fun. In New Orleans’ French Quarter From Crud to Stud is the makeover service for supernatural beings who want to tame their beasts so they can date mortal babes. Owned by a half-witch and staffed by a good fairy, a reformed female demon, and a voodoo priestess—among others—the place is always hopping. There’s moonlight therapy for weres, aversion therapy to keep vamps from sinking their fangs in anyone’s neck, and no end of spells, potions, and treatments. These ladies definitely put the boys through their paces. But it’s not all work as they search for their one true love. Their journeys aren’t easy, but they’re definitely magical.

Mastering the Beast Blurb:

Surrendering is the only option she desires...

No one believes that under the tough attitude and schoolgirl fashion sense, reformed demon Zoe burns for a man, love and sex. She keeps those urges on ice and well hidden. She sold her soul for a guy once, and all it got her was a one-way ticket to Hell.

Her job, keeping supernatural creatures in line at From Crud to Stud, is all work and no play. Until she’s saddled with a trio of new enforcers who ooze so much sexual heat she’s afraid to be on the same planet with them.

Stefin, Anatol, and Taro try to contain their laughter as their adorable new boss tries to lay down the law. Apparently, no one told her they don’t take orders. They give them. And they’re determined to smooth her rough edges and tame her beast with acts so wanton they’ll make her scream—for more.

Talk about all hell breaking loose. Surrender won’t come easily, but given their devilish charm and her aching need, her journey to submission is one done deal.

Warning:

Contains an unholy trio of demons who don’t like to take turns. Break room…snacking. After-hours…training sessions. In other words, a sensual ride on the pleasure express. Features m/f/m/m sex in every flavor except vanilla. Bring. It. On.

EXCERPT:
Stefin had never met a female demon quite like Zoe.

Wispy smoke rose from her narrow shoulders and long black hair. The delightful scent heightened her female musk and proved her outrageous lust to him, her willingness to submit. What a flirtatious display for a demon, playful yet also provocative, rather than in-your-face sexy.

His devilish desire kicked up several notches, thickening his cock and plumping his balls.

Slender as a waif, she was no more than five feet, her exceedingly pale complexion decorated with facial piercings. Two silver studs across her nose, four in her plush lower lip, several rings in her dark eyebrows and one in her left nostril. Despite the heavy-metal look, she’d dressed like a convent schoolgirl in a white, long-sleeved blouse, green plaid skirt that fell to mid-calf, anklet socks and saddle oxfords.

Thrown by her get-up, Stefin leaned toward Becca. “Is she of age?”

Becca shot him a look.

He wasn’t certain why. “What?”

“She’s twenty-five in mortal years.”

“How old is she supernaturally?”

“None of your damn business.” Zoe’s comment was throaty as all get out, a big voice for such a small girl.

She stood toe-to-toe with him. Her forehead barely reached his pecs. “In case you haven’t noticed, I’m still in this room. I can hear you, mister.”

What a firecracker, calling him mister rather than Master. Not that it mattered. In very little time, he’d woo her and she’d want nothing more than to submit to carnal hunger, her nudity displayed for his delight and their pleasure.

Flames danced in her black eyes, bottomless pools of indecent passion. Smoke spewed from her hair.
Enjoying her arousal, Stefin grinned.

Her frown faded, showing how pretty she was, her features soft and longing as a woman’s should be.

He leaned down to her. “Tell me how old you are supernaturally and I’ll show you things that will make you smile as you’ve never done before.”

She turned to Becca. “I’m not working with him or them.”

Of course not—she was working for them. They’d be patient and loving Masters and she’d be an enthusiastic sub. The way the universe worked. Stefin shrugged. “I agree.”

Bewilderment crossed her face, followed by relief then what looked like regret. That emotion he didn’t get.

She stepped back.

He followed, or rather pursued, as a man should.

Zoe crossed her arms beneath her small breasts. “You’re really asking for it, aren’t you?”

She wanted to play. How adorable. The other female demons Stefin had known were bold as hell, getting down and dirty with no flirting or come-ons whatsoever, which made sex perfunctory and too similar to his mortal days. As a product of Russian culture during its bleakest period, he’d experienced sexual equality firsthand, where men were men and women were too, everyone the same. Stoically hard. Endlessly grim. Decidedly sexless. That just wasn’t right and couldn’t have been what nature had intended. Stefin enjoyed a carnal dance that a man was destined to win simply because he was male.

He offered a mischievous smile. “Asking for what?”

She arched one slender eyebrow. “Don’t tempt me.”

“I thought I already had.”

High School Drama #The_Art_of_Being_Indifferent

6/3/2018

Picture
Drama and high school go hand in hand. If it's not who is dating who, it's who is doing something else. Everyone gets into everyone else's business and makes sure to share gossip with everyone. Sorta like Facebook.

That being said, I enjoyed my high school years. I was in a small town high school where I was not stuck in one clique. I had friends in all of them and hung out in different ones at different times. It was my saving grace and probably why I enjoyed school. But even with that, I only went three years because I was in a hurry to grow up and so I graduated at sixteen.

But Posey wants to get out of school for a different reason. She longs to head back to Seattle and her old life. One which doesn't involve her foster family nor the hot swimmer from high school who pushes all her buttons.

Blurb:
When opposite worlds collide…

Posey Briggs has a chip on her shoulder the size of Whidbey, the island off of the Washington Coast where she’s stuck with her annoying foster family, and their band of mismatched, screw up kids. The last thing she needs while she rides out these last few months until she’s eighteen and finally free from the system, is to be saddled with some bogus tutoring assignment given by an English teacher with a God complex.

Drew Baxter has the world in the palm of his hands. Best athlete in school, coolest guy on campus, nailing the hottest girl in school whenever he wants. What more could he ask for? Except for his dad to stop making his life a terrorizing game of whose face will get pounded tonight? He’d rather do just about anything other than sitting around listening to the school loser lecture him about Shakespeare every day.

Sometimes the universe has a way of thrusting two people together, even though they’d rather drink poison than sit across a library table from one another. And in this case, the universe knew something Drew and Posey never saw coming: they would become the single most important person in each other’s lives, and save each other from completely unraveling.

About the Author:

"I write because if I don't...my head will explode, and ruin the drapes." ♥
Brooke writes complex, character-driven stories about kismet, reunited lovers, first love, and the kind of romance that we should all have the chance at finding. She prefers her stories laced with some humor just for fun, and enough drama to keep her readers flipping the pages, and begging for more!

When Brooke isn't spinning tales, she spends her time drawing/cartooning, reading, watching movies then comparing them to books, and, of course, wrangling four kids, mugging on her hubby she lovingly refers to as her "nerd", and attempting to conquer the Mount Everest of laundry that is the bane of her existence.
