Football. The imbecile didn’t even realize it was the soccer field. The football team practiced halfway across campus. “Something like that,” she said with amusement, longing to see his reaction to her plans. Stepping back from the trunk, she turned to fully face him. Her eyes roved over his face for a moment before she closed the small distance between them. She slipped her arms around his waist and leaned in against his chest. She amped up her flirting to the next level, wanting him to let his guard down completely. “Before we get started … kiss me. I want to know what your lips feel like against mine. I want to know what you taste like.”
Without any hesitation, he lowered his lips over hers.
And that was when Sasha pulled back with a snort. “Alec was right. You have absolutely no idea what it’s like being friends with a girl. You went into this with the instruction of ‘friends only’. Yet you’re trying to kiss me ten minutes in.” Shaking her head, she grabbed the edges of her sundress and pulled it up over her head. Underneath, she wore a sports bra and a pair of bike shorts. From the trunk, she produced a pair of knee-high socks and cleats.
Matt took a step back, looking thoroughly stunned.
She turned her back on him, reaching into her trunk for her soccer ball as she hid her smile. It really was a shame: Matt was a charismatic guy, and he was so darn good-looking. He was into sports, same as her, and they shared a close confidant in Alec. If she could just get him to break down his walls and drop his act, there was a possibility they truly could be friends. His adaption to the change in plans now would tell her just how likely that outcome could be.
She roughly tossed the ball in his direction, and he barely managed to catch it. Apparently, he was still working through confusion and surprise at her abrupt change of attitude. She would just need to help him along to a more modern way of thinking. “You know, the majority of us don’t discuss lip gloss,” Sasha said with a snicker, referring to a tidbit Alec had shared of Matt’s skewed views on women. “If you’d ever bothered to hold a real conversation with a girl, you’d know that.” She bent at the waist and threw her hair down toward the ground. Gathering it in one hand, she bundled it all together in a high ponytail atop her head.
Flipping back up to face him, she placed her hands on her hips. “Game on, Matty. Time to learn what it’s like to actually hang out with a girl.” Ticking items off on her fingers, she made a list of all the things they wouldn’t be doing. “No candlelight dinners. No kissing. No eyelash batting. No flirting. I’m going to kick your ass out on that field, and make you question everything you know about women.”

Trouble in Paradise
Paradise Ranch Book 2
London Saint James
Roane Publishing, 237 pages
Contemporary Erotic Western Romance
Multiple Partners, Suspense
If you know what’s good for you, you’ll go back to Dallas.
Since coming home Sutton has inherited herself a heap of headaches, two bossy men who want her for their own, threatening notes, and a whole lot of trouble in Paradise. Having Doc McNab as competition, being ten years Sutton’s senior, and under her employ, meant the deck was stacked against Flint Palmer when it came to winning the sexy, vivacious Sutton as his woman. No way would she be interested in an old, worn-out, ex-rodeo cowboy like him, but that wasn’t going to stop the man from trying. With the exception of the pretty as a picture, Sutton Callaway, Kale McNab’s childhood sucked. He’d been jerked up more so than raised by his ex-convict of a father, eventually leaving the girl and West Texas behind. Now, he’s all grown and back in Sutton’s life, willing to do whatever it takes to stay there. Genre(s): Contemporary Erotic Western Romance, Multiple Partners, Suspense, Spanking, Series
Please Note: This is the novel length book following the introductory novella Welcome to Paradise in the Paradise Ranch Series

Adult Excerpt:
“Wake up, darlin’,” a low, smoky voice whispered near Sutton’s ear.
Behind her, hard heat pressed along the length of her bare back, ass, and thighs.
Her eyelids flittered open. Everything seemed hazy. Off kilter. She rubbed at her gritted eyes. Blinked. Glanced around. She was in bed, lying on her side. Silver light trickled in through the sheer-lace curtains and slashed provocatively over her naked torso.
When a large, warm palm slid up the contours of her body to cup a breast, her nipples pulled tight and hardened.
“What are you doing?” she asked in a sleepy voice.
His nose nuzzled into the hollow behind her ear. Chills scattered over her sweat-dampened skin.
“I think we both know what I’m doing.” He squeezed needy flesh between expert fingers and licked the side of her neck before sucking there.
“Aah. I—”
“Shh…Don’t fight this.” He rolled her over, onto her back—his chiseled features coming closer—green eyes glittering in the moonlight, and brushed his nose over hers. “Give me what I want, Sutton,” he said, gripping her face between his hands. “What we both want.” He brushed his lips across hers. Urging. Tempting.
When she opened to him, his tongue delved past her teeth. She moaned at the sensation—the slick glide of his tongue against hers. He tasted of expensive wine, and mint chocolate, an extravagance no woman could afford.
Settling against her, tucking his bigger body between her wanting thighs, he devoured her in the most delectable way. He speared deep, taking her breath, fucking into her mouth, rubbing his tongue against hers before sucking on the tip. She was consumed by him. Fire snaked up her spine, and just seconds before she burst into flames, he backed off. Nibbled her lower lip.
Unable to help herself, she arched into him, and lodged her hands into his satin-soft hair.
“I’ve always wanted to taste you.” His black-velvet voice was desire roughened as he kissed his way along the line of her delicate jaw. “Feel you pressed against me.” He licked her chin. “Be buried deep inside of your sweet little body.” His mouth pressed to the pulse thump-thump-thumping in her throat. “Mm...” He slid his mouth over the apex of her breasts. Traced the tip of his tongue around her areola.
“Oh God…”
“Tell me you want this, Sutton.”
“Yes,” she admitted in a breath. “I do.”
As though a reward for her response, he slipped his lips over an erect nipple, tongued and sucked while the wide head of his cock made progress against her clit, sending heated spikes of pleasure to quiver low in her belly.
“I have to have you,” he said.
“This is crazy, Kale.”
But, crazy or not, she plunged her hands into his hair once more, tugging until he returned to her mouth for another deep, probing, hungry kiss. The mastery of his mouth and tongue caused her body to tremble against the steely strength of his.
He pumped his hips, sliding his impressive length along her slick feminine folds. “You’re so wet for me,” he said, brushing strands of blonde hair from her face. “Open your eyes, darlin’.”
Her eyelids fluttered open and she gazed up at him. “We shouldn’t be doing this.”
“Yes. We should.” He ran the pad of his thumb over the swell of her lips. She slipped shaky fingertips down the furrow of his spine. Need rumbled through her like a summer storm. She wrapped her long legs around his tight waist. He muttered a low, sexy curse through gritted teeth before saying, “Tell me to fuck you.”
“We—”
Her words were lost when he ground himself against her throbbing core.
“Say it,” he demanded.
“Yes,” she whispered on tremulous lips, giving in. “Do it.”
With a smooth glide, his warm hand moved along her ribcage, gripped her hip, angling her tightly into him. His other hand tangled into her hair, securing her while the pad of his thumb rhythmically brushed along her temple. He pressed the wide head of his cock to her snug opening, parting her sex, and stopped to stare into her eyes—their heated breath bathing each other’s mouths and chins…
What was he waiting for?
“Tell me what I want to hear, Sutton.”
“Please,” she said.
“Please, what?”
Two words fell from her in a breath. “Fuck me.”
With one hard thrust, he impaled her, stretching and filling her completely until the plump lips of her pussy were at the wide root of him.
She cried out in pleasured bliss. He groaned her name. Her fingernails pressed into his shoulder blades so hard she’d probably leave marks.
Beep…beep…beep…beep...
Fumbling, Sutton reached over to the bedside table, her heart hammering in her throat, and smacked the button on the alarm clock before she threw an arm over her eyes, willing herself to settle down.
“Hells bells.”
She lay there, her body needy and unsatisfied. Out of all the delicious men in the world, why him?
Her hand slowly slipped over the swell and dip of her stomach, stopping at the waistband of her panties. What in the heck was wrong with her? No way would she give Kale McNab the power over her fantasies or her own satisfaction. She considered something in her psyche had to be flawed to even ponder the idea of her fingers finishing where her dream left off, because if there was one thing she knew without any doubt, she couldn’t freaking stand the man.
After taking a deep breath, Sutton sat up. She was sporting a pair of erect nipples beneath the ribbed tank top she had on. The floral sheet was tangled into a ball at the end of the mattress. The fitted sheet had dislodged from the corner. Her pillow was missing a pillowcase and dangled half off the bed.
Exasperated, Sutton flung her body back—head hitting the mattress and sighed. Just once couldn’t she have a sexy dream about Chris Hemsworth or Joe Manganiello? Or better yet, how about being bookended by both of them?
She allowed the visual to dance around inside her head for a moment. Regrettably though, she’d set the alarm for the butt-crack of dawn for a reason. She had roofers coming to start on the ranch house this morning.
Glancing over at the clock with one eye, she grumbled nonsense from under her breath. It was time to get up. There would be no such luck in the Chris/Joe naughty fantasy department today.
Dang it.

Excerpt Annabel stopped at the end of the pier, and covered her face with her hands as tears rolled down her cheeks. That emotional moment had triggered memories from the Old Land and the Varkins. She remembered Kate, and how she had promised her freedom but was not able to keep that promise. She remembered her family she had lost, and her boyfriend who’d betrayed her. She wished the Big Change had never happened and she was still a human, with her family and friends. She thought she missed the Old Land, even the Varkins. She would never have thought she would think again about that dark place. Annabel stood at the pier and cried as the wind was blowing her tears away. She heard footsteps approaching her from behind. "Excuse me?" One of the fishermen was talking to her, a crying stranger. "Something happened? Do you need help?" "No...Nothing," Annabel replied and turned away. "I know we don’t know each other," he continued, "but I have never seen an Anlight with black wings crying on the pier, so I wanted to make sure you were okay." Annabel couldn’t say anything to him as she knew she was not okay. "My name’s Robin," he introduced himself. "I come here sometimes when I feel sad too. I very well know this..." "Why would you feel sad?" Annabel whispered, not looking at him. "Isn’t this a paradise here?" "It is what you make it to be," he replied. "But I have my sad days too...I lost my son before we Anlights came to the New Land and I didn’t know what happened to him. He just disappeared right before we had to leave the Old Land." Annabel opened her eyes and her heart jumped as she turned to look at the Anlight who was talking to her. He was tall, wearing dark pants and a brown shirt, holding his fishing pole in his right hand. Annabel looked at him for a moment and her eyes widened when the moon appeared from behind scudding clouds and she saw his face in its light. He looked so familiar she was...she knew the reason for his son's disappearance. She turned away from him hiding her emotions. "What was his name?" she asked quietly, predicting the answer. "Markus!" he said. "I called him Mark. He looked a lot like me." Annabel closed her eyes and took a deep breath, knowing exactly what had happened to him. She bit her bottom lip, trying to hold tears from washing out of her eyes. "He was about your age..." the fisherman continued, happily talking about his son, "Very brave young Anlight. Sometimes even too brave for his own good." Annabel stood quietly, trying to calm down. She took another deep breath. She knew his son was that brave Anlight who had been doing most of the talking when they were first captured by Varkins. "I know what happened to him," she whispered, wondering if she should even tell him the truth. Her voice began to shake. "Oh, you do?" The fisherman sounded curious—after all, how she could possibly know? "I was there too...I was with him...and others..." Annabel spoke while catching her breath, trying her best to talk normally without giving in to her emotions. "Nobody lived..." she finished as more tears quietly ran down her face. "Nobody?" he questioned, needing to be sure. "Only me..." She finally could not take it anymore and burst into tears, sniffing and catching her breath. The fisherman sighed and put his head down, in sadness for his son—even though he had already accepted his disappearance and possible death. He came close to Annabel. "I knew one day I would know the truth.” He spoke calmly, and with sorrow. “Thank you for coming here tonight." "I am sorry about your loss," Annabel sobbed harder with every word said. "He and others were in a lot of pain...and those who died…were the lucky ones. They are in peace now and will not feel any pain again." The fisherman took a step closer and put his hand on her shoulder. He smiled slightly. "Sometimes it’s hard to accept what happens to us. Sometimes the reality seems too much for us to take. But we would not appreciate the good if we did not know the bad. We are writers of our own lives, and we decide when to close a chapter, and when to start the new one." Annabel wiped cold tears from her cheeks as she looked at him. "Cheer up," he continued. "You’re the lucky one! You can continue writing your life." He paused for a moment. "And I need to get back to my wife...fish for dinner!" He laughed, picking up a small bucket full of fresh catch. He walked slowly back along the empty pier, disappearing in the darkness. Annabel stood on the pier for a while longer, thinking about what he had said. She calmed down, as the wind picked up and she began to get cold. She returned to the car and drove back to her house. When she pulled up, nobody seemed to be there. She looked around as she walked to the porch door, hoping nobody was waiting for her. Annabel entered her house and locked the door behind her. She was just going to call her cousin about her visit when, again, someone knocked on the porch door. Annabel recalled what had happened before, and was not in the mood to continue talking about her own or Dexter's relations. She crossed to the door and moved the blinds to see who was knocking. However, as soon as she saw it was Dexter outside, she slid the door open.
Author Bio:
Originally from the Ukraine, I am still considered a new face to America. Speaking three languages including English, that became just as natural to me as my native Russian.
I grew up in a town on the south of Ukraine doing the same things that other kids my age did. Dreaming, hoping and wishing. Growing up, I spoke absolutely no English and never even saw myself somewhere abroad. Nevertheless writing a novel in another language!
I went to the local school that brought mostly negative experience in my life. But it shaped me throughout the years. My college life was much better. I was known to study well and to go out partying as much as it was possible.
In my first year of college I began to work in the marriage agency and met my future husband. We dated and traveled to most of the Europe along with Egypt.
When I finally got my fiancée visa, we both moved to the states, where soon after, got married. In the first few years I did some modeling and acting. Photo-shoots, run-way and photo in the magazine fulfilled my childhood's dream.
A few years later I became a mother of a wonderful and most handsome little boy. Along with learning and experiencing motherhood, I began to make hand-made jewelry and organic soaps. This hobby turned into my small business and became bigger than I thought it would.
In the last year I discovered: an author lives inside me. Never did I think that I would write an English book and that I would love doing it. But I did! And I loved it!

EXCERPT:I pull open the driver’s-side door, only to have it brusquely shut by a rather large, pale hand. Startled by the suddenness of the man’s appearance, I shift to my left and come eye to eye with a bulky-looking individual with dark brown eyes, and a scar that traces a fine line from his upper lip all the way down to his chin. “Don’t attract attention, missy.” He sneers at me. I glance down at the feel of something hard poking my ribcage and find, much to my horror, that he’s leveled a gun at my stomach. Most of the weapon is concealed by a khaki trench coat he wears. “Keep your pretty little mouth shut and all will sail smoothly,” he warns, standing rigidly beside me. He glances briefly over the roof of the truck. “Tiger. Hello there, my dear old friend. Didn’t take you long to make friends, huh?” I grow stiff. So these are the psychos that are after Tiger. JACE
Lauren and I head down Pennsylvania Avenue making for a nearby gym with a boxing ring, trailed by a considerable crowd of onlookers, most of whom are Secret Service agents. Once inside and changed, I make my way into the ring, dressed in blue boxing shorts and a white sports bra. Roz helps me slip on the red, Everlast boxing gloves. These are my competition gloves I had sent over from Cracked. James has agreed to let Lauren and I fight without headgear. Otis helps Lauren with her gloves.
Roz appointed himself my cornerman and cutman, as if I need either, and he insists I call him Mick. Whatever. I allow myself a quick glance around the gym. A nice crowd has assembled. I recognize many of the agents who are betting against me. Otis said he’d been approached by other agents about getting a piece of the action. I told him I was willing to put up to $15,000 on the line. Otis hit that ceiling in an hour. Apart from the agents, I see a number of staff I haven’t met. In the few days we’ve been here, I’m amazed how many people have heard about the two bad girls who are constantly at each other’s throats. James holds the ropes apart to allow me to squeeze through into the ring. He’s going to ref the fight, which will go on for three two-minute rounds.
Lauren and I square off in the center of the ring, and James gives the signal for the first round to begin. She starts off fast, trying to bombard me with combinations, sending me on the defensive for most of the round. I dance back from her, blocking her punches and dodging away. She doesn’t manage to land much of anything on me, but I can’t land anything solid either. I think I see what her strategy is, but then I realize she fooled me, and Lauren slams her left glove into my mid-section, almost knocking the wind out of me. This is not Lauren. This is Clubber Lane. Her fist feels like a granite boulder. The round ends. I know she won round one with that punch. But I also hear a silent ka-ching, as I mentally pocket $500 from Agent Saunders.
Roz hands me a bottle of water, which I greedily drink from, while trying to control my heavy, labored breathing. When round two starts, Lauren tries to go on the offensive again. She immediately attempts the same combination that worked before, when she just about emulsified my insides with her punch to my gut. But I’ve already seen this move and when she tries to land the body punch again, I lash out with a right uppercut that tags her on the chin, sending her reeling backwards into the ropes. I hear gasps from the crowd. Before she can recover, I begin to rain blows on her, causing her to cover up and then clutch at me. She’s rescued from me by the bell clang signaling the end of the round. I watch her retreat to her corner, a glazed look on her face. Score this round to me. The match will come down to round three.
The final round starts out slow, with both of us dancing away from each other’s blows, our punches tentative. I don’t know what Lauren thinks she’s doing, but I want to land the knockout blow, so I’m waiting for Lauren to make the one big mistake that will enable my quicker hands to take her down. The problem is she has the best boxing form of anyone I’ve ever faced and there’s no room for error; one mistake and she’ll clean my clock—and vice versa. But the mistake never comes, so, frustrated, I stop dancing and move in on her. Lauren steps toward me and we both start swinging as fast and as hard we can. I manage to land a vicious right hook to her jaw followed by a wicked left jab to her forehead. This staggers her, but she steps closer to me and we stand toe-to-toe, hurling punches at each other non-stop. I drop any pretense of style and finesse. Lauren manages to get in a stinging blow to my mouth and I can taste my blood. Then she lands another crushing punch to my stomach, causing me to back up until I’m up against the ropes, but I’m not covering up. Lauren gets in another punch to the side of my head, but I tag her with a good right cross to the nose that staggers her and then I follow with a left to her jaw. Her knees are wobbly and I think that if I can land just one more shot, she’ll go down, but the round ends before I can deliver that one last blow. I let my gloves drop. I’m exhausted. I know my lip has been split open, and I feel my blood freely flowing down my chin. Lauren has her own river of blood to contend with, as her nose is oozing a steady stream of snot and gore.

I thought I could handle it. I thought it was part of my job.” “What changed your mind?” “The death of the station’s engineer’s wife. She had come to my house, expecting to catch her husband and me in bed. Billy was waiting inside. He killed her and then he killed himself.” Billy is based on a real event in my real past: In my youth, I was a drive-time DJ and I acquired my own obsessed fan. His name was Billy. He seemed a bit slow, so I always tried to be patient with him. Unfortunately, that resulted in him calling me at the most inappropriate times. I would be reading the evening news to my listeners and the big yellow bulb would blink and keep blinking. (Radio booths don’t use ring tones; they use big yellow lights to silently grab your attention that someone wishes to speak to you on the phone.) Unfortunately, if you are talking on air, the blinking light is highly annoying. Now, most people know if you talking on the air, you cannot answer their phone call. But not Billy. Every single day Billy would call just as I began to read the news. Nor would he hang up when it became apparent I wasn’t going to answer the phone. So the yellow light blinked on and off through the entire newscast. After bungling the name of some weird town in North Carolina due to the blinking light, I lost all patience with Billy. Once I finished the news I picked up the phone. The conversation went something like this: “Billy, I’ve asked you for months NOT to call me when I’m on the air, reading the news.” “I don’t like news,” Billy grumbled. “Then don’t listen to it. But it’s part of my job to read it, so don’t call when I’m on the air.” “I call when I want!” he yelled. “If you call me again when I’m reading the news, I’m not going to talk to you anymore.” “You can’t stop me from calling.” “No, but I can stop talking to you. I’ll just not answer the phone.” “You can’t do that!” he screamed. “I not only can, but I will.” “No! Don’t make Billy mad! Billy hurts people when he’s mad.” It was then I realized Billy wasn’t just slow, he was potentially dangerous. “Okay…Billy, I’m going to let the police know what you just said so if anything happens to me, they’ll arrest you.” “Stupid! You don’t know my last name!” “No, but I know your phone number. The police can get your address with ease.” “Why are you being so mean? I just want to talk to you.” “Yes, and I have asked you over and over not to call when I’m on the air, reading the news.” “I hate news!” “Then don’t listen to it! There are other radio stations. Go bother someone else. But I am not talking to you ever again. And if you call again, I’m calling the police. Do you understand?” Then I hung up. After work, I stopped by the main station and let the owner know about Billy and gave him the phone number just in case Billy really intended to kill me. I am happy to say Billy didn’t kill me nor call anymore. He just moved on to another female DJ. I know this because about two weeks later a young woman from another radio station called. Billy had mentioned he used to listen to me. She asked me how to make him stop calling during the evening news. We spent a bit of time laughing over the situation. Truly, reading the news is harder than you’d think and a big yellow light blinking the whole time is huge distraction. Then I told her how Billy and I parted ways. His threat to my safety freaked her out. I never heard from her or Billy again. I hope she’s okay… Public Secrets Book 1 of the AI Sci-Rom Series By Liza O’Connor Blurb Carla Simon is a best-selling novelist besieged by death threats and lawsuits because her stories keep turning out to be true. I'm short, full-figured, and I march to the beat of my own drum. What happens when the beautiful swan becomes the ugly duckling? Starr Valentine has a perfect life in Middleton, Ohio. She was named captain of the cheer squad, her mother finally allowed her to get highlights, and the cutest boy in school asked her to homecoming. But everything comes crashing down when she finds out her parents are actually monarchs in exile from a mysterious planet called Vega. Starr doesn’t want to leave, but loves the idea of being a princess, and decides moving to an alien world might not be so bad. When she gets there, however, she discovers that something is terribly wrong. Starr has always been the winner of the family, but now everyone is fawning over her chubby older sister, Astra. And everyone, even a handsome and annoying young duke named Julian, seems to hate her. That is when she realizes the awful truth. Astra is now the pretty one. Astra has all the friends. Astra gets all of the attention. And Starr Valentine, voted Miss Perfect, is now the ugly duckling. Her biggest fear is…will she be able to turn back into a swan, or is she doomed to be a loser forever? EXCERPT: That was when I met Julian. He walked around a bend in the garden path just as I tried to shove a monkey into my purse. I’d finally managed to catch one, tearing my stockings in the process, and now the stupid animal screamed its head off, causing all its friends and relatives to start screaming in every tree in the palace garden. There were a lot of trees. There were also a lot of stupid monkey creatures. “What art thou doing? Art thou a complete idiot?” Tall, like all Vegonian men, and handsome, like all Vegonian men, he looked at me like I was an absolute moron. That, sadly, was also like all Vegonian men. I’d begun to notice a pattern. I looked up in surprise. “No, I art certainly not. I…thou…you…” I tried to speak proper Vegonian, but it seemed hopeless. “Who are you?” “Julian.” He had a small, pale scar that pierced his lip. He also had one ever-so-slightly crooked front tooth. So, in spite of his dark hair and eyes the color of Godiva chocolate, he was slightly less than perfect. That, for some reason, made me happy. “I am Princess Starr Valentine.” I raised myself up and tried to ignore the fact that my name sounded like a Japanese cartoon character or a Pretty Pony, the kind that might have stars tattooed on its butt.
