We are hardwired to protect those we love. Parents have been known to lift cars to save their children. Even strangers push others out of the way of oncoming trains to have people's lives. Hayden has always fought... he fought to survive and he's fought to be accepted. Now he must fight for the love of his life. In an age where humans dominate the world… And supernatural creatures exist in the cover of darkness… He must find a place among his rivals or risk losing it all. Hayden has had his hands tied coping with life outside of the Institutes. He’s come far despite all the bumps along the way. He’s allowed himself to believe he could live a normal life…until a new threat makes its presence known. In an instant, his entire life is flipped upside down once more. Those he cares for are not safe with or without him. There’s no escaping his past. Or permanent solution to his problems. One way or another he’ll become the target for all those looking to destroy the hybrid who endangers their way of life and challenges everything they’ve ever known. Now he must decide between kill or be killed, and risk becoming the very monster he’s fought so hard to prove he’s not. Freedom has come with a price, but is he willing to pay the cost? Dissension Excerpt I failed to notice before, caught up in my conversation with Gabriel. My heart picks up speed as I come to the realization that something is off. We may have walked straight into the mother of all traps. “What the hell…?” “Kristina, run!” Gabriel shoves me back the way we came before I can make sense of what has made him so paranoid all of a sudden. I stumble, nearly dropping the flashlight in the process, but regain my bearings and haul ass in the direction of the SUV as fast as my legs can carry me. The ground begins to shake almost violently as we start running, making it very hard to maintain my balance. I struggle to stay upright, the severity of the situation failing to register as I worry more about getting to solid earth. But I’m slowed down by the constant sway, and can feel myself falling behind with each step I take. My heart jumps at the prospect of being left alone to fend with whatever the hell is out here, but Gabriel grabs my arm and tows me at a pace I can barely keep up with. Gabriel legs it, but staggers as the shaking increases in intensity. I bump into him continuously in my desperate attempt to keep up since he’s forced to slow down to prevent a catastrophic fall that could quite possibly be the end of the both of us, but it’s basically a race I’m destined to lose. He can get away, but that will require him to let go of me. I certainly hope he doesn’t. Now Available! He’s been locked away his entire life. He dreams of freedom. The only way he can accomplish his goals is by breaking free of the chains tying him to a dark past and gloomy existence. But there’s one catch. He’s not human. And he’s never set foot outside his jail. Devoted to saving his peers as well as his own life, he sets out to find the one person that can help him achieve his objectives. He knows where she will be and what she will look like, but what he doesn’t anticipate is the fact he finds himself caring for the girl whose life he’s put at risk, more and more each day. He has no name. He has only known hatred and violence before her. However, she will teach him to have faith in humanity, even if she can’t trust him. Together they will embark on a journey to bring down a corrupt system responsible for the loss of many innocent lives. But when he finds his feelings compromised, can he still move on knowing that doing so will put an end to the life she once knew? How far is he willing to go to be free? https://www.amazon.com/Deliverance-Kristy-Centeno-ebook/dp/B01BUIBA7C About the Author: Kristy Centeno is the author of the Secrets of the Moon saga and Keeper Witches series. Ever feel like you've been set adrift and aren't sure which way to go? Seriously, I just had that moment. I was sitting here thinking about my business and a decision I made...only now I'm wondering if it was the right one. And they make songs about this... Torn Between Two Lovers... Reunited... I think we can all say that we've been unsure of ourselves and our choices. And while that happens most often as a teenager, it's not only for teens. I know a certain 40ish adult who is struggling with this... But he doesn't have what Lily has.... Spunk, A great sense of Humor, and a best friend like Sarah! an Excerpt from A Lily by Any Other Name... “For the record,” I say, “No one asked me to prom. Unless you count Sarah.” “You’re going with Sarah?” There’s a hint of relief in Adam’s voice, like a sigh with words instead of sounds. I tilt my head toward the tuxedo shop. “What about you?” “I haven’t asked anyone,” he says. “Yet.” He shifts his weight from one foot to the other. “So…” He pauses and I start to panic. If he asks me to ditch Sarah and go to prom with him, I’ll have to let him down gently. “Would it be all right with you if I took Brit Randall?” he asks. Oh. “All right? With me?” I try to sound off-hand, but it comes out on-handedly. “Why?” “It seems like you two have gotten closer lately. I don’t want any weirdness between all of us.” “No. No weirdness.” My words skid over themselves. “It’s completely not weird. It’s completely fine, in fact. Honest.” “Great. I’m glad we’re being honest.” “Absolutely. Brit’s the best,” I say. “You’ll make perfect prom dates.” “As long as we’re being honest,” he says, looking down at his shoes, “She’s not my first choice.” Then he adds in a very low voice, “You don’t have to tell her that.” “What?” I lean toward him, not sure I heard him correctly. Adam lifts his head and his eyes meet mine. This time he speaks slowly and I hear every word. “I said, Zach Hewitt is an idiot.” “Oh.” We stare at each other for a moment, both of us silent. He pulls his phone from his pocket and checks the time. “Well, I don’t want to keep you. You’ve been so busy. With your mom and everything.” “Right.” My stomach twists. I’m the idiot. “Things should slow down once my mom’s back home,” I tell him. And if I don’t get back to you on my cell phone—” “I can always call your house,” he says. “It’s what all the guys do, right?” He brushes my elbow with a loose fist. “See ya, Lil.” BLURB: 17-year-old Lily Anderson is ready to wrap herself in a big red bow and give Zach Hewitt the greatest gift in the history of Christmas: Her. But when she pulls a pair of booties from her stocking and learns her forty-year-old mother is pregnant, Lily finds herself adrift, unsure of Zach’s commitment. Lily hopes Zach will anchor her with promises of love. Unfortunately, his chaotic home-life makes him afraid of those three little words; and Maddie Franklin-in her Amazing Technicolor Dream Thong–makes sure Zach can have her whenever he wants. With the help of her best friend Sarah, Lily plots to secure her place in Zach’s heart. But after a series of awkward rejections, Lily loses faith in her dream boyfriend, in herself, even in Sarah. That’s when Lily turns to Adam Connolly, a transfer student whose lash-y eyes and comfortable silences make her question who it is she wants and what she needs. But Adam’s support can’t help her the day Lily discovers her parents’ game-changing secret. Faced with the truth, Lily must decide how to deal with her family’s past, take hold of her own future, and accept that there are many names for love. Don’t bother making wishes; what you get is more than enough. Read this funny and touching novel |
