I'm excited to welcome award winning author Charlotte Blackwell to visit. She is the author of the Embrace Series. I hope you enjoy her visit as much as I did! ![]() Hello and welcome to my blog. I’m so excited to have you here today. I know that the readers are looking forward to learning more about you. Please tell us a little about yourself. Well I have been a stay at home mother to three amazing children for almost seven years now. Prior to that I worked as a practical nurse in the special care nursery and loved my job, but I loved my family more and they needed me. After so long at home I felt there was more out there for me. My oldest daughter had encourged me to read and I fell in love with it. Soon after I decided to try my hand at writing more than just a journal or my feelings and The Embrace Series was born. Now onto some fun questions! If you could change one thing about our world, what would it be and why? Poverty. It breaks my heart to see so many people struggling to make ends meet or not being able to feed their families while others have so much. I’m not saying people shouldn’t be rich if they work hard for what they have, but I think everyone deserves a home, food, hot water, medical and all the basics. If you knew the exact date of your death down to the minute, what would you change about your life starting tomorrow? I don’t know how much I would change. I really do love my life. I would appreciate my husband not working away from home so that my kids and I could spend more time with him. When was the last time you felt alive? I mean really alive! Every night when I tuck my kids in and in the morning when they wake up with so much to learn and live for. Also watching my kids perform in front of others that get enjoyment from watching them. Knowing that I have brought such amazing humans into the world. When was the last time you helped someone that was desperately in need? What did you do? Was this person grateful? I always try to help others in anyway I can. Sometimes it is a ear to listen, a hug, a meal, even a few cents to the kid in line at the store that is short. I believe every little bit helps and something so same can make someone elses day. What television sitcom is most like your family? Why? Two Broke Girls. I have been hooked from the first line and laugh at every episode. They are like most working people and get in to some pretty funny situations. What’s your favorite thing to do to relax? A hot bath with my e-reader. Let’s find out a little bit about you as an author. Did you always want to be an author? Never even dreamt it was possible. What authors had an impact on you growing up and as an adult? As a kid I loved Hans Christan Anderson. Heidi was my fave. As an adult, Rhonda Brynes ( I could have the spelling wrong) the author of the secret. Although I wasn’t much of a reader until about four years ago. Now I just like anything entertaining. Do you have any “must haves” with you while you’re writing? I enjoying having music or the TV in the background, but it isn’[t really a must have. Do you have a common theme or item that appears in each of your books? The stop you in your tracks, never ending love that everyoone dreams of. What have you learned the most from being in the writing business? I’ve learned to be tough. This is a difficult business and not everyone is going to like you or your work. You have to do it for yourself and no one else. I think that works for a lot of things in life. Tell us about your latest release: Everlasting Embrace (book 4 of the Embrace Series) Sophia Pierce has walked the earth for over a century. She’s struggled, but finally found meaning to her existence. She found love, friendship and an amazing family. Now with the love of her life by her side, Sophia feels strong enough to conquer anything. Even raising a baby, born as his mother died at the hands of the Cerberus, evil Vampires. Sophia helps her best friend deal with the loss of her husband and raising their daughter. Stronger than ever, Sophia isn’t prepared for everything she’s about to learn. Good versus evil seems like a pretty easy concept, but that’s not always true. When an Angel hunter comes for Nathanial’s friend Ben a Nephilim, Sophia and the Pierce family vow to protect him. Ben finds safety in the new Supernatural school created by the Pierce family, their shape shifter allies and the Magnificent Ones. With Caspian’s at the head of the school, things are bound to get exciting. Everlasting Embrace will take you on an exciting journey, of danger, love and life. When one love leaves, can another be found? Can that love return to you once they left? Sophia Pierce will learn the answers to this and so much more as she helps the ones she loves heal. How did you decide on your story plot? I’ve always loved the paranormal, vampires and witches. I decided to give it a try. I wanted to do YA because my eldest daughter is a teen. Most of all I wanted important messages with in the story. So I tried to base it on real life, with a paranormal twist. Other than that I just sat down and wrote. How did you choose your characters names and location for your story? Lots and lots of research. Some characters names have meaning to me, others are based on populars names from the time. Locations are all relevent to the story and based on weeks of researching the area. Do you have a favorite scene? Why? I have several from each book. Although if I had to choose one …Book 3 Mystic Embrace, there is a scene when Ebony is in the hospital. This scene is written directly from my life and means so much to me. Do you have a character that you identify with? Who and why? Sophia and Ebony mostly. Both these characters have similar personality’s to me in different times of my life.
