When my kids were younger, we had a speed boat. I loved going out on the small inland lake to fish or tube. There were a lot of great times on the water but the one time which always stays in my mind overshadows every other time.
When my son was three he fell overboard in April... in Michigan. The water was freezing. Thankfully he wore a lifejacket and I could grab him and get him back into the boat. We covered him up in towels and blankets and headed back to shore. It was frightening.
You can say I have a healthy respect for the water. I know what can happen. So I'm not a big fan of having to spend time on a boat. It sounds like fun for a short period of time but I would have to choose where the boat could be...Inland lake, good weather. I can't imagine being in a larger lake in a dangerous situation.
But that's what Susan V. Vaughn does to her characters. She puts their lives in danger in SWEPT AWAY. Thankfully, this is a romance and has a happy ending. You will certainly be biting your nails as you turn the pages.
Blurb:
Jack Reed, a young crab boat captain, has met the women of his dreams while standing up in his younger brother’s wedding. Too bad he is already in love with the open seas.
Carefree Megan Berry doesn't want to be tied down, but can’t forget the passionate night she spent in the arms of the wickedly handsome captain.
A botched matchmaking attempt by some well-meaning friends not only forces the two conflicted lovers back together, it also leaves Megan stranded on Jack’s boat in the middle of the perilous Bering Sea.
The stormy adventure brings excitement and passion as Jack and Megan play out their emotional relationship in a dangerous high-stakes situation. But when it’s time to set anchor, can Jack find a way to keep his career and his fantasy girl?
EXCERPT:
“She didn’t think I would show, huh?” Jack leaned into the wall with a sexy smile.
Megan stole her gaze away, noticing his powerful frame, broad shoulders and muscular arms crossed over his chest. She stood up slowly. There was nothing she could do now but apologize.
“Nice to finally meet you, Jack. I’m usually not this much of a jerk.” Megan absently offered her hand that was still gripping one of David’s toy cars.
Jack’s smile disappeared, and his gaze traveled over her face, making her nervous. He was shorter than Shane’s six-and-a-half feet, but not by much. He had the same dark curly hair as his brother and nephew, but his was cut short and clean. His eyes were a lighter shade of brown, almost hazel, and were lined with dark lashes that gave him a devilish appearance.
Jack was extremely attractive, but he didn’t appear to have the same good humor Shane often wore on his face. Megan desired a man who had a sense of humor above everything else.
Jack uncrossed his arms and chose to take the car instead of her hand. “Do you always play with toys?” His voice had taken on a deeper tone, sending a ripple of awareness through her.
What was the question, again?
