Because growing up in Amherst was so fundamental in my teenage years, it was natural to set my stories along those tree-lined streets. One of my favorite places to include is O'Armours, Hot Dog Heaven.
The restaurant was founded in 1976 in an older home on the corner just up from the high school. It quickly became a place for teenagers to obtain their first job, a meeting place after sporting events, and the perfect place for a first date. Featuring memorabilia on the walls and a jukebox in the corner, Hot Dog Heaven was known for its cheesy-fries and loaded hot dogs.
While you may not be able to visit O'Armours, you can get a feel for the place in my Wilder Sisters Series- Home is Where the Heart is. Set in Amherst, the stories revolve around five sisters who left their hometown only to find out what they wanted could only be found in the town they tried to escape.
They all left their small town only to return and face what forced them to run.
Five sisters each left Amherst, Ohio. When they come home again, they find love and family as well as a chance to redeem themselves.
