Secret Cravings Publishing Just Desserts~ Pound Cake with Fruit

3/9/2013

Like my character, Syndie Wilder, from Forever Love, I'm not a big homemade chef type of person. I'd like to be but being a mom, teacher, author and publisher, I don't have enough time in my day. My enjoyment comes from spending time with my family more than making food for them.  However, I love this yummy treat for dessert because it is easy to make and something that is light and delicious for the whole year long.

1 pound cake
1 box instant vanilla pudding
3/4 cup of milk
1 container of cool whip
1/2 cup of orange juice
Mixed fruit (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, etc)

Put poundcake in freezer for one hour, cut into 3 layers. Make a box of instant vanilla pudding with 3/4 cup milk. Then fold a cup of cool whip into the pudding . Brush orange juice on top of each slice of cake. Spread pudding/whip on layer of cake , add mixed fruit then repeat. Use strawberries blueberries and raspberries.

Enjoy!!

Forever Love
~~~~~
Fifteen years ago, Syndie Wilder left her small hometown- Amherst, Ohio- to escape the pain of losing her best friend and boyfriend. Deciding that Chicago offered more for an up and coming jewelry designer, she enjoyed the big city life until she chooses to return and care for her father. Taking care of her father and relocating her internet business, Syndie has no time or desire for romance but fate has a way of playing with best-laid plans.
Thom Johnson broke Syndie’s heart all those years ago and regrets it every day. As a firefighter, Thom sets out to protect Amherst and redeem himself for his bad choices. However, he never has forgotten Syndie and the hurt he caused her.
When a chance meeting happens, can the two former friends allow themselves the chance to become friends again, or will the sparks turn a childhood friendship into a forever love?
That's a good old-fashioned recipe, Melissa. My mother used to make the ice box cake with the chocolate wafers and whipped cream--simple and delicious. Love the cover of your book--she's beautiful! Meredith
Pound cake is deslish! As for what food to tempt a loved one-- for my husband it would be lasagne and lemon pie. For my son it would be seafood, steak, and cheesecake!
Forever Love sounds like a sweet weekend read. I've added it to my growing TBR pile. I'm the only one who doesn't bake in my family so they tempt me with cheesecake or these oatmeal-peach-almond cookies. Okay, I'm hungry now.
