My First Crush {Men Of May Blog Hop- CONTEST}

5/3/2012

Thank you for dropping by today!  I am giving away a copy of my sweet ebook story, "Second Time's the Charm" to one lucky person who comments on my blog during the Men of May Blog Hop from Friday through Sunday.
Picture
My First Crush

I will never forget Tracey W. and that special summer we had riding bikes around town and kissing by the train depot.  It was a perfect summer romance.  Tracey will always be my first crush and my first boyfriend.

Tracey and I grew up together in small town- Amherst, Ohio.  There are photographs in an album at home of him and I sharing a sandbox, playing in the grass and having fun.  I honestly didn’t remember much about our childhood playdates.  I don’t remember how close our families were or how we spent a lot of time together.  The first time that Tracey came on my radar was in junior high.  He sat next to me in a class and we got to talking about how we knew each other.

Tracey was a blond Sylvester Stallone or even Joey from Friends.  He had those piercing
eyes and casual attitude that said, “Take it or Leave it”.  Most of the girls were already in love with him.  I remember Missy sitting by us and flirting with Tracey.  His smile was reserved but when he really found something funny, his whole face shone like a floodlight.  I was so jealous when he’d turn that smile onto another girl.

For weeks, we’d tease around and chat.  All the while, I’d watch him go out with a different girl each week.  It wasn’t until almost June before he gave me a chance. I wasn’t going to
let that chance go. We would meet in the hallways at school, hold hands before
class and sneak a kiss.  On the weekends, we’d ride our bikes to the pool in town and hang out or meet each other at the train depot.  It was the joyous feeling of new love.  We
thought we’d be together forever.

But like any good love story, something happens and we broke up.  We remained friends and still hung out sometimes together, although my feelings never really changed toward him.  In our sophomore year of high school, his parents decided to move into a bigger house in a different town.  My heart was broken.  We wouldn’t be able to ride our bikes and see each other, never to hang out again at the train depot.  In fact, that year was the last time I saw Tracey as he played football for the opposing team one night in October.

Fast forward thirty years…Tracey and I haven’t reconnected or been in contact in those years since he moved.  I’ve heard from his family but nothing much about him.  It is like he is a
missing person these days. We could pass on the street and not know each other. However, I just have to close my eyes and I see his tosseled blond hair, his striking smile and deep blue eyes.  It takes me back to junior high school and my youth. And when we have those memories, we are always connected.

Who was your first crush?  What happened to your story?  Share your thoughts and enter my contest for a chance to win a copy of "Second Time's the Charm".

My first crush was the boy who lived on my street growning up. He was my first kiss too (well, peck not a real kiss, lol) He was a year older and even though we spent all of our summers playing together (we lived out of the city and there were just 3 kids on the street) we never spoke in high school. We still don't speak now even tho he lives in his partents house (they moved) when I visit my partents. It's pretty odd too but that is how it goes.

That is pretty odd. I guess sometimes we just grow apart and don't really interact anymore. Was he the one who broke it off or did you?

First major crush happened in 7th grade and lasted through 10th. He and I were in a lot of classes together and we just got along so well. Smart and cute plus a great sense of humor *sigh* yea I had it bad. I'm positive he knew but it really never came to be. I ran back into him when we were 21. He came into the bar that I hung out in (I was dating one of the bartenders who is now my husband). We start talking like we had seen each other 5 days ago instead of 5 years. Still very comfortable with each other. He starts to actually flirt with me and I told him I was unavailable. Pointed to the guy behind the bar and he actually stepped back to put more respectable space between us. I loved that he did that. I also was a bit happy that he looked as disappointed as he did. I know I shouldn't have but it was a big ego boost for me at the time. *shrug*

There is something about the ego boost of knowing that your crush still thinks of you. I'd give about anything to see Tracey again, just to get a chance to chat and catch up.

My first crush was so long ago I can't recall! LOL Obviously, nothing happened with the crush and we went our separate ways.

Thanks,

That's sad that nothing ever happened but I'm sure you found someone better!

I don't care for the take it or leave it attitude but that's just me I guess but I do think Joey from "Friends" would be a riot to hang with. My 1st crush was a little mexican boy who played guitar in the 5th grade. Turned out both our mothers had babies in the same hospital the same day and shared a room in the hospital. Weird! I moved away and years later he found me again and had fun just catching up.

That is a strange coincidence Juanita! I'm glad you had a chance to catch up!

I think it was a fellow student, but nothing happened.

That is disappointing. Did nothing happen because he just wasn't right or were you both a little scared?

My first crush that I fell hard for was in elementary school. His name was Ben and as with many grade school crushes, he had no clue. I was school with him all the way up thru and including graduation. He became a real great guy and is now a loving father to 2 beautiful children. I am happy for him. I moved on with my life and have been married for the last 9 years. All in all, we are both doing just fine.

Mimi,
It sounds like Ben was a great guy and I'm glad that you were able to keep in touch.

Thank you everyone for participating in the Men of May blog hop. After throwing all the names into the dryer, the winner was Juanita. I'll be contacting her to send her the copy of Second Times the Charm. Thank you again!
