LIZA FACT CHECKS HER STORY:
Can lightning go through Glass?

No. But it can shatter normal windows from the force of the lightning—UNLESS your windows are bullet proof (which Tess’ home has.) Then it won’t shatter, but it may look like a spider web after the strike. The only way that lightning can strike you through a normal glass window is for the first strike to blow out the window and the next strikes goes through the hole.  If that happens to you, then you’ve probably really pissed off God.

Blurb
Megan Clarke had a good life until she wins the Mega Times Lottery and discovers the prize comes with a curse. Worse than the many money-hungry suitors, a serial killer has her in his sight. She changes her name and moves to Iowa with plans to buy their last major forest of white oaks and turn it into a State Park.
Unfortunately, the Lottery Curse doesn't stop at state lines and someone there wants her dead, as well. Good thing a disturbingly handsome law officer is just as determined to keep her alive.

Excerpt for A Fortune to Die For
Megan almost replied that good-looking people lived a charmed life and received promotions more often than less attractive people, but realized he wouldn’t appreciate her observation. So she behaved and answered, “No.”
“I’ve very good instincts. For example, before you replied, you were thinking something…something I wouldn’t like, so you wisely kept it to yourself.”
Her face burned. Busted! “And your instincts tell you the package is safe?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Then take it in the other room and open it.”
Despite his confidence in his instincts, Megan remained on pins and needles for the excruciatingly long half-hour that crawled by as she waited for Detective Williams to return.
Or blow up.

Blurb
Tess Campbell is a mafia princess who wants nothing to do with her dangerous family. She’d rather spend her life making Grams's forest the best state park in Iowa.
Alistair Castile, aka Steel, is a British prince, his archeological career in ruins due to his promiscuous nature. He’s hired on as forest manager of Tess’s woods and quickly falls in love with the charming young woman, so different from the socialites of his world.
Only there are several serious barriers between them: Steel’s career cannot withstand another scandal and Tess’s father will kill anyone who gets in the way of his daughter marrying a Chicago mobster.

Excerpt for Unexpected Love
To emphasize the point, the sky came alive with an electrical show that was both beautiful yet deadly.  Lightning bolts attacked the hills and river before them. The magnificent force of nature especially seemed to dislike the large tug boats slowly moving up and down the river. The crew migrated to the windows to get a better view.
Dan headed to the kitchen and spoke softly to Steel. “Could you ask the guys to get away from the windows.”
“Guys, lightning can shatter glass,” Steel warned. As he moved the burgers to a plate, he spoke softly to Dan. “So lightning can shatter bullet proof windows?”
Dan shook his head. “Nope. They were just blocking my view.”

~~My review~~

In the sequel to the lucky lottery winner, Ms. O'Connor shares what happens when mafia princess tries to save a forest rather than become the next leader of smuggling or money laundering. Tess is a fun character, very unlike her family (except for her grandmother) and ends up proving that love is stronger than genes.

I find myself so caught up in the story that I can't put it down, thereby losing sleep at night wishing I could meet these fabulous people and be a part of their exciting lives. Ms. O'Connor's stories are a true delight and make me want to be a better person.

A must read for fans of suspense and romance. And while you may not be able to put the book down, you will learn a thing or two... about trees, bears and the country roads.
