Lessons Learned from Sailor Moon- Sailor Mercury

I admit it. I'm a Sailor Moon closet fan! When my children were little they... well I did too, became fascinated with the world of Japanese Anime. Sailor Moon was our favorite. It spoke to the idea that girls could be strong, even when they are silly, goofy, or scared. There were toys, books, movies, soundtracks. We had them all! While I thought Sailor Moon/Serena was quite a boy-crazed baby, the other girls each had some wonderful qualities.

Still after 15 years, I remember episode 5 clearly. Ami becomes Serena's friend. Ami is a smart girl, a shy girl. She is focused on getting good grades and doing well in school. She already knows that she wants to be a doctor. Serena is probably using her at first because she is so smart but a true friendship develops. The girls bring out the best in each other.

In episode 5, Sailor Mercury is in school taking a computer class. The class is a way for the evil Negaverse to suck out life energy of people by putting them in front of a computer. Some days I really do feel that way. Last night I was laying in bed working on my classes and the computer was literally draining my energy. I had to step away from the computer. When I did that, I picked up a book instead and enjoyed some very soothing time relaxing.

While the show was just a cartoon, I can't help but wonder if computers do suck out our energy. When you are sitting in front of your computer, playing video games or even watching TV, time seems to go missing. You only wanted to just check email then two hours later, the house hasn't been cleaned, no writing was done... you get the picture!

If you would like to watch the whole episode, I've included it here from Youtube. Enjoy Sailor Moon and dont' forget to check back on more stories about the Sailor Moon girls and the lessons they taught me!

I'm a Sailor Moon fan as well. I never had a favourite, though. If I HAD to choose it would be one of the outer Senshin, Probably Plute or Neptune. I think they're awesome and mysterious. :D I wasn't a fan of Serena either, but SWOON, Mamo-chan!
Okay, I'm going back to work now.

Thanks Kimberly. I found the guys to be very cute. Too bad most of them were bad guys! I think that Sailor Moon fans should band together!

Giselle, we don't want to ever be too old for good shows! :) I'm going to keep talking about Sailor Moon over the coming months. I loved that show!
