​Javi blurted, “You’re beautiful, and I’m sorry that asshole didn’t let you know that.” Javi tugged her closer still, resting his head on top of hers. She heard the consistent beating of his heart and relaxed into his grasp. “Beautiful isn’t the right word,” he added, his words rumbling through her. “You’re vibrant, Lo. You have this natural light that follows you everywhere. Your smile transforms you to goddess levels, you have no idea.”

Lola nuzzled his chest, his words bringing tears to her eyes. No man had ever said anything so nice, so thoughtful. “Javi,” she mumbled. “You haven’t seen what’s going on under here.” She wiggled her hips, causing the skirt of her dress to flutter around her legs.

“Lo, baby.” His warning was a growl; her very own Smokey the Bear. “Please be careful with those hips.”

Achingly slow, Javi’s hands glided down her back, moving until they slid over her waist. His fingers dug into her flesh, and she whimpered at the contact. 

“I have stretch marks,” she announced, rolling her eyes at her lack of tact.
