Thanksgiving is a time of love. We often think of the love of families for this holiday. After all, we come together to celebrate as a family at a table filled with food. But Thanksgiving is also a time of romance.

The season is changing. The weather is getting cooler. Sweaters and jeans, gone are the flip flops of summer. It is a perfect time for snuggling under covers and dreaming about the future.

Author Libby Kay has shared a wonderful holiday novella with readers- THANKSGIVING OVERRULED. This tale is from her Pinegrove FD series but features two women who would rather work in law than fires. Unless it comes to cooking!

THANKSGIVING OVERRULED is a sweet romance filled with holiday chaos and love as two people find the time to say those three wonderful words.
You don't have to have read any of the firemen stories to love THANKSGIVING OVERRULED but why not! The more stories the merrier!

What could go wrong during a few days away from work, right?

Mari Balogh has a problem, she’s madly in love with her girlfriend and cannot get those three little words off her tongue. After being burned before from her unsupportive family and a string of bad breakups, this paralegal is guarded. She happily agrees on a road trip to Pinegrove, eager for the space to profess her affections. How hard can it be, right?

From a little trespassing and a kitchen nightmare to a surly cat and a series of misunderstandings, the road to I love you is rife with hiccups. Can these two find their way to happily ever after? Or will their relationship go up in a puff of sweet potato casserole scented smoke?

But Pinegrove has proven that love is never overruled!

Excerpt
Winnie woke up naturally, the chirps and rustles of nature her alarm clock. On any other Thursday, Winnie would be up for at least an hour, showered, and on her third cup of coffee.

Now, she wiggled burrowed deeper into the mattress and curled around Mari. She adored her girlfriend all the time, but she was made for cuddling. Every time Mari griped about gaining a pound, Winnie silently prayed it would stay. She adored her Mari’s curves, could get lost in her every dip and valley. Winnie gently squeezed the curve of Mari’s bottom, reveling in the soft moans she made as she stirred.

“What’s going on back there?” Mari asked, sleep coating her voice.

Winnie kissed the back of her neck, the fine hairs at the nape ticking her nose. “Nothing, just thankful we’re here.”

Peace... in your heart. #blessings #smallmiracles #peace

10/16/2025

Picture
There is something to be said for peace. We are hearing a lot about peace these days in the news but I want to talk about personal peace.

Have you ever been in a situation where each day was a stress-filled and anxiety ridden adventure? Maybe you worked each day in a job that didn’t appreciate you and always asked more than you were willing to give? Or you were in a relationship with someone who made you doubt your own beliefs?

Handling the insecurity over believing what you know to be true. The doubts, the fear…

I have worked at a job for over ten years that I hated. Not all of it, but the constant anxiety that I wasn’t good enough, the snarky comments rather than support. It wears on you. But when it’s a job and it pays the bills, you put up with a lot, even your sanity.

I have also been in a relationship where peace wasn’t an option. Every comment was met with a pushback. I began to question my own thoughts and beliefs. Did that really happen? I’d wake up with fear and questions. I’d be afraid to even speak my thoughts that they might be twisted.

But one day, I found peace. I let go of both of those things. Let them go. And the silence is so fulfilling. Being with someone who accepts without question is one of my blessings. It's a peaceful relationship. I wish I could share that feeling with everyone.

A part of my peace is not about who is right or wrong. It’s about letting go and seeking my own soul’s quiet. I find that miracle in the smallest things, a text from a loved one, a kiss from a pet, a breeze on a summer’s day. It’s not easy, but my own peace is so worth it. Being right won’t bring about any prize. I won’t win a lifetime supply of anything. I won’t become a millionaire. But with peace, I will enjoy my life so much more.

Our world is a constant barrage of negativity. People fighting and dismissing others because of beliefs or even the color of their skin. We live in a world absent of peace. Fear, doubts, anxiety swamping everyone. But when you have known peace, even in one corner of your world…it becomes easier to seek it everywhere.

Maybe the songwriters were correct…. We simply have to give peace a chance.

Some bloodlines can't be outrun.

Niki Balam traded her Mayan father’s ancient stories for law books and logic—until terrifying nightmares about her twin sister force her into the depths of the Guatemalan jungle.

At the remote archaeological site of Choja q'eq, her sister Nayla has disappeared, leaving behind only questions and the unsettling presence of Zen Cazares. Golden-eyed and dangerous, Zen is everything Niki's ordered world has taught her to avoid—wild, untamed, and carrying secrets that could unravel everything she believes about reality.

But when supernatural forces begin hunting them through the jungle and a malevolent shaman rises to claim an ancient power, Niki realizes Zen might be the only one who can help her navigate a world where ancient Mayan gods still demand blood and sacrifice.

The Mayan god of death Hun-Came is stirring, and his hunger—for power, for blood—will not be denied.

Join author Lisa Dietrich as she weaves a tale of danger, hungry gods, and death magic, that draw the reader through the jungles of Guatemala and into the underworld. Fans of Sarah Maas’-“Court of Throne and Roses” series and Jennifer L. Armentrout’s - "From Blood and Ash" series will love Ms. Dietrich’s new supernatural series.

Excerpt
“Keep moving,” Zen said softly as the sound of rustling leaves grew louder and more aggressive, the monkeys turning to face us as we passed like tracking sensors. “We’ll head that way,” he indicated the direction by shifting his eyes to the left. “Don’t stop,” Zen cautioned. “Just keep moving.”

A large red howler monkey suddenly leaped from his perch to another tree directly in front of me—but the movement wasn’t quite right. It didn’t arc naturally but jerked through the air as if pulled by invisible strings. I clutched my machete with sweaty palms and locked eyes with him. In their depths, I saw something else looking back—something ancient and hungry.

The monkey rocked back and forth in agitation, its movements mechanical, puppeted. It let out a short warning bark that sounded more like the blare of a foghorn than a monkey.

The low guttural roar sent shivers up my spine, ice spreading through my veins despite the tropical heat. “Zen?” My voice shook, barely audible even to myself.

The red howler thrust out his thick neck and bellowed a second warning, setting off a chain reaction among the monkeys until the jungle was filled with the harsh grating bellows, pummeling us with noise—but beneath that sound, I heard words: “Death walks.”

My eyes darted back and forth as I warily watched the agitated monkeys, now certain they were vessels for something else—Hun-Came’s eyes in the jungle, his voice in their unnatural calls.

The loud roaring reached a crescendo as the emboldened animals began to drop from the trees onto the ground surrounding us. Their fur rippled like liquid, bodies reforming as they landed—larger, more dangerous, less monkey and more nightmare.

Zen whirled around to face me, his face pale beneath his tan. “Run!”

Best-selling author Libby Kay romances hearts with her sweet stories about family, friends, and love. Fans of Sherryl Woods’ Sweet Magnolias series are finding all the feels with Old Flames, the latest amazing story set in small town America. Don’t miss this enduring sweet romance!

Two high school sweet hearts, one charming small town, and flames of chemistry that are hard to deny…

Jessie “JJ” Mays has seen it all. Her job in the Peace Corps has put the world at her feet, with adventure calling with every new assignment. Yet after a decade of traveling, she’s become a little lonely—and unable to get over her first love. Soon an emergency phone call from home has her on the next plane, but will her heart survive this visit?

Malcolm “Smithy” Smith loves his smalltown life. His career as a fireman and EMT is fulfilling, his soap opera starlet mother keeps him on his toes, and he’s got a great group of friends. The only thing he doesn’t have—the love of his life by his side. No matter the distractions, he still misses JJ with a fierceness that consumes him.

When a call to a warehouse fire goes from routine to catastrophic, Malcolm is injured and unable to perform the job he loves. The only upside of having a building fall on him? His girl is back in Pinegrove ready to nurse him back to health. And hopefully, this visit is for good…

With some help from the residents of Pinegrove, JJ and Smithy will discover that sometimes, first love burns brightest.

EXCERPT
His job. It was the biggest joy of his life. Of course, there was something else that brought him joy, and he’d give anything to see Jessie one more time. If this was the end, that would be the bigger tragedy, not being able to say goodbye. Not being able to hear her laugh, to feel her in his arms …

The very last thing Malcolm thought about as he closed his eyes was his girl, her warm smile welcoming him to rest. As the smoke wafted around him, he reached out with his free hand, eager to get a touch of her smooth skin. He only hoped she knew how much he missed her, how much he still loved her.

As another chunk of ceiling fell at his feet, faint voices approached Malcolm’s prone form. “He’s over here,” yelled Javi, urgency coating his hoarse cries. “Smithy’s over here!”

“Are you sure? I don’t see his reflective gear!” Trevor called out, stomping around a pile of debris.

Malcolm closed his eyes and smiled, reassured that his friends were here at the end. He also took comfort knowing that Trevor would take care of Jessie; she was his little sister after all. She would be okay, he mused as he passed out from the pain.
She had to be.

Don't Miss the first book in the Pinegrove FD series.... and another sweet novella coming soon!
