Readers certainly have opinions on books. They either love them or hate them. One of the things that readers notice is whether the book is in first person or third person. First person stories are told from the characters' point of views. These use I, Me, My and the reader can only understand what the character is feeling and thinking. They can't get into another person's head.

Author Julie Navickas has taken her award winning books and done something unique. She's rewritten them in first person point of view. This allows readers a deeper understanding of the characters' motivations and delves deeper into their emotions. Finding Love is the second book in the Clumsy Little Hearts trilogy and this time readers can feel those insecurities and heartbreaks of Miguel and Rachel. Out now in hardcover, paperback and ebook, you will want to grab this story and fall in love with their romance.

Blurb:
This new first-person rewrite brings you closer than ever to Rachel and Miguel—more intimate, more vulnerable, and tangled in past heartache neither of them is ready to confront. You’ll feel every spark, every fragile moment of trust, and every devastating turn as they risk their hearts on a love neither believed they would find.

Rachel Prescott has always fallen for the wrong men. Every relationship begins with hope and then ends with “nope”—until Miguel Rodriguez, the handsome new owner of Pier Ninety-two, finds her drowning her latest dating disaster in a bottle of wine.

Miguel knows what it means to love the wrong person, too. Haunted by a past he can’t escape, he has only the fractured pieces of his heart left to offer. But Rachel—with her sharp wit, stubborn streak, and undeniable fire—makes him wonder if those pieces might be enough.

Over mushroom ravioli and a bottle of wine—or two—their connection becomes impossible to ignore. But the closer they grow, the harder it becomes to hide the old wounds threatening everything they’re building.

To find the love they both deserve, Rachel and Miguel must decide whether they’re brave enough to let go of the past—or risk losing each other before their future can begin.

Best-selling and award-winning author Julie Navickas delivers a heartfelt story about imperfect people, second chances, and discovering that the wrong turns in life can sometimes lead you to exactly the right person.

~1st place recipient of a BOOKFEST AWARD in contemporary romance~

EXCERPT
“Rachel has spent her entire life believing love just wasn’t meant for her.”

I nod. “Yeah. She’s told me the same.”

“Well, good. Because it’s true.” Rose sighs. “She’s dated every kind of disaster imaginable. Sketchy accountants. Frat-boy idiots. Adrenaline junkies with drug problems.” She grimaces. “There was even a commercial airline pilot obsessed with collecting vintage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

I wrinkle my nose. “Seriously?”

“Trust me, I wish I were kidding.”

I laugh, and for the first time in what feels like forever, it doesn’t hurt quite as much.

“But jokes aside, when it comes to love,” she says softly, “nothing ever works out for Rachel.” Her eyes find mine. “Until you came along.”

I let go of her hands and rub the back of my neck.

“We’ve spent years teasing her about the guys she’d bring home. Every one of them was somehow worse than the last.” She smiles. “But then she met you.”

I raise an eyebrow. “So… I’m not one of the losers?”

Rose laughs. “Sir, not even close.” Her smile turns gentle. “You won her heart, Miguel.”

Hearing those words somehow makes losing it hurt even more.

“Rose, if everything you’re saying is true…” I rake a hand through my hair. “If I’m really different from every other guy she’s been with…” I let out a defeated groan. “Then why did this happen? Why did Rachel push me away?”

Rose lifts one shoulder. “Miguel, I’m a chef, not a psychiatrist.”

Blurb:
For Adriane Graham, the real question comes down to whether she’s Alec Kaden’s guest or prisoner…

If she’s a guest, then that means Alec freed himself from his family ties to organized crime and that he’s telling the truth when he says he’s protecting Adriane from dangerous men. It means they both can shake off the shackles of haunted pasts and begin anew together.

If she’s his guest, then Adriane Graham is no longer alone. She’s safe. And maybe…just maybe…she can finally find the strength to love.

But…

If Adriane is Alec’s prisoner, that changes everything.

It means his tenderness is simply a ruse to keep her under control; his kindness is just poisoned hypocrisy. It means Alec is a cruel liar, and that somehow, by some desperate way, she’s got to get out of this charming man’s well-guarded house…before it’s too late.

Troubling questions pour like fountains through Adriane’s heart…flowing…
Endless as the Rain.

EXCERPT
“You have me confused with someone else.” She tried to pull away.

“I don’t.” In one motion, he scooped her up and set her gently in the car.

Now in panic mode, she scooted over to the other door. She’d jump out and run.

But the door was locked. She hit the unlock button, but the door still wouldn’t open.

The man sat next to her and closed the door. “Jammed?” he asked the driver.

The driver, a man with ash blond hair, looked at something on the seat next to him. “Yes, sir. The whole conversation was blocked.”

“Drive. We don’t have much time before they come looking.”

The driver backed down the alley and turned onto the main road.

“Let me out,” she demanded as she tried the door handle again. Then she looked around for something to break the glass.

“They’re bulletproof,” the man next to her said.

“Who has bullet-proof windows?”  she snapped. “What are you, a crime lord?”

His jaw clenched. But then he said, “I’m sorry. This is necessary.”

“What are you talking about? What’s necessary, and who are you?”

“I’m taking you someplace safe, and I’ll explain.”

“I’m telling you, you have the wrong person.”

“I don’t have the wrong person, Adriane.”

He knew her name.

Blurb:
She thought chemistry only existed on the page, then he set her world on fire.
The only men in Lucy’s life are fictional. Which is fine. So fine. At thirty, she is happy with her life. She has a ride or die best friend. A cute little ginger cat to snuggle with. And an apartment full of books. What more could she possibly want? Well, before Jack Jones swaggered into town, with his designer suits and British accent, the answer was nothing. But now, here he is, showing up where she works, calling her beautiful and making her question everything.

Jack Jones had it all. High-powered job in the city. Fancy apartment. Women offering to warm his bed every night. Then he blew up his life. Now, he’s in small town Wyoming, doing damage control while babysitting his sister’s kids. There is one silver lining though… Lucy Mills. He felt a spark during his first visit to Woodvalley Pines, when he’d shamelessly flirted with her at the diner where she worked. Three years on, she’s somehow even harder to ignore. She’s everything he’s been searching for. If only she’d just let him in.

Return to Woodvalley Pines one last time with this swoon-worthy opposites attract romance packed full of chemistry, charm and Isobel Reed’s signature witty banter. Burnout is perfect for fans of Book Lovers by Emily Henry and The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary. Whether you’ve already devoured the other books in the Love Burns Series or are enjoying it as a standalone, you won’t want to miss this final book.

Excerpt
“You okay?” Bethany’s hand went to Lucy’s forearm. “I don’t think you’ve spoken or taken a breath in the past six minutes. I’m beginning to get concerned that the lack of oxygen has cut off the supply to your brain.”

Her best friend was hilarious.

“I just remembered that I forgot to leave food out for Daisy-Mae. I need to go.”

Yes, she was being dramatic, and no, her cat did not need to be fed, but she didn’t care. She lived a relatively drama-free life, so she was allowing herself one tiny little freak-out.

“Oh no, you don’t.” Bethany narrowed those big green eyes at Lucy. “I’m not letting you run just ’cause the mysterious Jack has arrived.”

Jack Jones, the hottest man Lucy had ever seen in real life, had indeed just entered the room. With floppy dark hair, piercing blue-green eyes, and a ridiculously symmetrical face, he was darn right dangerous. Throw in height, muscles, and a designer suit, and he was practically a health hazard.

The sight of him alone was clearly enough to break her. But the sight of him currently being introduced to his three-month-old nephew? She wasn’t sure she’d ever recover.

Annnnnd … my ovaries just exploded.

Cool, cool.

Who was she kidding? There was nothing remotely cool about her. Which was exactly why she needed to get out of there. Before she melted into a puddle, in her friend’s living room, on her pretty abstract rug.

That wouldn’t be a good look.

It wouldn’t be. Yet, she wouldn’t put it past her traitorous body. Apparently, it had control issues around this man. Which was stupid, because she’d only met him once for Pete’s sake. Three years ago. When he’d shamelessly flirted with her at the diner where she worked.

Oh no. He’s coming over.

Abort! Abort! Get out of there now!

Only she couldn’t. Her so-called friend had noticed Jack’s slow-motion swagger toward her, and amid Lucy’s internal panic, Bethany had sneakily grabbed hold of Lucy’s arm and was keeping it hostage.

“I hate you,” she whispered to Bethany, her voice full of the venom her friend deserved.
“You love me.” Bethany had the audacity to laugh.

As soon as their gazes locked, she felt it. That same feeling she felt all those years ago, one she had started to believe she’d imagined. Until now. The skin on the back of her neck prickled. Her body flushed. And her stomach swooped. Deep down, a part of her accepted that this was just her body enthusiastically reacting to an attractive man. But still, the knowledge that she’d gone thirty years without ever feeling this instantaneous chemistry before made it feel significant.

The closer he got, the hotter Lucy felt. It may be January, and Woodvalley Pines may be under a blanket of ice outside, but under her off-the-shoulder cream sweater, there were some questionable things happening. She may even be forced to throw out her bra.

I love my bra.

Wow. That was a sucky thought. Great. Now she was angry, flustered, and sad. Just in time for Jack to enter her space. Close enough for her to see the fierce intensity in his eyes, giving her the overwhelming urge to find the nearest blanket and crawl under it.

“It’s Lucy, isn’t it?” His voice was deep and smoother than silk. Did she mention he had a British accent, too? Because … of course he did. “We met a few years ago … at the diner.”

Don't Miss Any of the Romance!

About the Author

Picture
Isobel was born and raised in London. While she’s a city girl at heart, she loves daydreaming about running away to a charming small town—though she’s not entirely sure her husband and son would share her enthusiasm for the move. When she’s not writing small-town romantic comedies or growing unhealthily attached to the characters in her books, you can find her reading, chasing after her very active toddler, or attempting to channel her inner domestic goddess in the kitchen (with varying degrees of success).

Known for her witty dialogue and swoon-worthy small-town heroes, Isobel signed with Inkspell Publishing in 2021. The following year, she released Love Tools, the first book in her four-book Bluestone Series. In early 2024, she launched Toasted, the debut novel of her seven-book Love Burns Series.
