But when his parents boot him out of their lavish home, he stumbles upon a captivating and enigmatic woman who changes everything. Antoinette has always thrived in the shadows, content to quietly oversee Noir, her gothic nightclub in the heart of New Orleans. But her quiet world is upended when she finds herself dealing with a reckless demon manning her club's door and a dangerous witch on the hunt for her invaluable jewels. Antoinette preferred her life when no one knew her name. Now, the reluctant duo must join forces to outwit the witch and secure the treasures before they lose their lives. As Antoinette is forced to confront her dark past, she faces an agonizing choice: follow a path that leads to death and mortality or surrender to the magnetic pull of Khaos' world. Blood and Jewels is a thrilling paranormal romance mystery set against the sultry backdrop of modern-day New Orleans. It’s the first book in The Casket Girls Family Series. When he gazed back, a woman stood in the middle of the road. “Shit,” he swore, slamming on the brakes. Antoinette gasped as she held on to her seat for dear life. The car slid to a stop, the wheels sliding a bit in the gravel, but the woman was gone. “I didn’t hit her. I know I didn’t,” he said, his head on a swivel looking from side to side, and his hand went to the door handle. “Stop.” Antoinette grabbed his arm. “Don’t open the door.” She punched the door lock, but the doors were already locked. “Why?” She glared at him in the dark. They were now in the bayou proper, thick foliage from the trees and bushes on both sides of the road. “Haven’t you ever seen a horror movie?” Her grip on his arm didn’t let up. “The second you get out of the car to investigate, your Achilles tendon gets slashed or you get hit in the head with a baseball bat.” “Neither of those situations would keep me down for long. I’m a demon, remember? I can’t be killed.” “So you think. We should continue on.” “Do you think it was her?” “Jadis, the witch bitch who beat me up outside of the Comte’s house? Yes, yes, I do.” “But you didn’t see her?” Antoinette shook her head. “No. By the time I looked at the road, there was nothing there. What did she look like?” “Tall and willowy with hair longer and whiter than Gandalf after he returned from fighting the Balrog.” “Sounds like her, and it sounds like she wants to stop us from going any further. If we get out of this car, we’re playing right into her hands.” BUY LINKS: |
