The Identical The weekend after Labor Day is one of the worst for movies and I agree. There was only one concession open and no waiting! However, braving the lackluster choices, I did find some positives. I give The Identical a C+. This movie was independently made and financed. It wasn’t promoted either, which probably accounts for why no one went to see it! Most of the financial backing came from religious groups and close friends of the director and writer. Many of the people involved did double duty like directing and writing some of the music. Or in the case of Blake Rayne—portraying twin brothers separated at birth. One grows up to be a music icon while the other searches for something meaningful his entire life. The story doesn’t come off as preachy though, except when Ray Liotta is playing the preacher. J Basically it’s more about a man’s search for his own life’s path versus what his dad and society expects. The Identical a cute date night movie for those over 25 years old and understand the Elvis references. And with so few people in the movie theater, you might get to sneak in a few kisses of your own! |
